[Inconceivable!] The Verizon Galaxy S5 Is Getting Lollipop Starting Today

Verizon has been known as an enemy of timely software updates for many years—centuries maybe, I haven't been keeping track. That makes today quite unusual. The Samsung Galaxy S5 on Verizon is getting an update... to Android 5.0 Lollipop. It's the first US variant to see the update. Weird!

[Update: Official] Samsung Sends Invitations To Its Mobile World Congress Unpacked Event On March 1st

As winter slowly loosens its grip on the northern hemisphere, gadget nerds everywhere poke their noses above ground, looking to see if we'll soon have new hardware to drool over or six more weeks of relatively stale news. Easily the most anticipated springtime hardware announcement of the last few years has been Samsung's annual flagship refresh, and it looks like that will be coming on March 1st.

If you have a late-model Samsung phone on US Cellular, odds are pretty good that there's a software update waiting for you. The Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 flagships are getting an updated build of KitKat, along with the last-gen Galaxy Note 3. Don't get your hopes too high: all three phones will still be running Android 4.4.2 after the update. But Samsung is pushing out a few incremental changes, notably for the dialer and camera.

[Deal Alert] eBay Has A New Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 For $300 ($100 Off Retail)

If you don't mind Samsung's software layer, the Galaxy Tab S series are a couple of darn fine tablets. Cameron called them "the best tablets" you could buy" half a year ago, taking especially fond note of the 2560x1600 Super AMOLED screens. If you've been waiting patiently for the smaller Tab S 8.4 to go on sale (shunning the many deals on the Tab Pro with its LCD panel), today's the day: TigerDirect is selling it on eBay for $299.99.

[Deal Alert] Refurbished AT&T Unlocked 32GB Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 LTE Just $380 On eBay

The Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 is a big tablet. Unsurprisingly, it comes with a hefty price tag to match. Back when it launched early last year, the 32GB Wi-Fi version came at $749.99, and the price has only dropped down to $599.99 on Amazon in the time since. AT&T still sells its 4G LTE-enabled version at $899.99.

Let that sink in.

Then take a look at eBay, where refurbished AT&T units are currently going for $379.99.

Samsung Expands Milk Music To The Galaxy Tab 4 And Note Tablets

You could reasonably make the assumption that when Samsung debuted its own media streaming service known intriguingly as Milk Music, it would have released it across its entire catalog of devices. But that's not the way Samsung has decided to pour this beverage. Instead, it's serving things out to a handful of devices at a time.

The latest Galaxy devices to get a slurp are tablets, particularly the Tab 4 and some unspecified Notes.

Qualcomm Confirms Snapdragon 810 Won't Be Used In 'A Large Customer's Flagship Device' — Probably The Galaxy S6

We've heard a lot of back and forth about the Snapdragon 810, the first high-end 64-bit ARM processor from Qualcomm. First there were rumors that overheating caused Samsung to drop the chip from its Galaxy S6, then LG said the 810 was fine in the G Flex 2. Now, however, Qualcomm says the 810 will not be powering "a large customer's flagship device" this year. That almost certainly means Samsung.
