Official word from Asus is that they can't make enough Transformers to keep up with demand, something that's perhaps not surprising given that the tablet maintains high-end specs but a low-end price. Luckily for some users, keeping a hawkish eye on (r)etailer's websites has allowed them to snatch one up when the seller was lucky enough to get a few in stock. Now, however, there's an easier way, called NowInStock.

The Acer Iconia A100 - a 7-inch Honeycomb tablet [unlike the 10" A500... makes sense, right? - Aaron]- was originally slated to hit the market in late May/early June, but has been delayed until August/September due to restrictions with Honeycomb on a 7-inch, 1024*600 display. Honeycomb was designed to take advantage of 10 inch, 1280*800 displays, and according to Digitimes, Google is too busy "resolving other issues" to tend to this little debacle, so Acer had no choice but to delay the device.

Could Samsung have learned a lesson from the Galaxy S Froyo update shenanigans? The company will be shipping their hottest new device, the Galaxy Tab 10.1, with Honeycomb 3.1 rather than 3.0. No shipping with out-of-date software here - and pretty speedy turnaround, given that Honeycomb 3.1 probably hasn't been available to manufacturers for too long. Then again, the 10.1 doesn't have TouchWiz yet and won't until after release, so there was no custom UI to slow the update.

The O.G. Samsung Galaxy Tab (7") may not pack quite the same horsepower as the Viewsonic gTab, but it's still a damn fine piece of kit, and today Woot is selling it for just $260 + $5 for shipping. Even better, it's the 16GB Sprint 3G + WiFi model, meaning those of you who want to sign up for a service plan can do so. The catch: it's a refurbished model.

UPDATE: ...and it's gone. Did anyone successfully place an order before Amazon pulled the listing?

If you're the type that would rather have a dedicated MP3 player instead of using your phone for such a task, but still want to show your love and support for Android, then you'll be glad to know that the Samsung Galaxy Player 4 is now officially on sale at Amazon for $229.

The tech world has been abuzz about NFC (near field communication) for the last several months, and it appears that Big Goog may be rolling out the mobile payment service that utilizes it in a couple of days. According to Bloomberg, Google has a press event set for May 26th, where the service should be officially announced. The initial launch is rumored to include five cities - New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington D.C.

Those of you who have gotten their hands on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be pleased to know that you can now flash ClockworkMod Recovery on your tablet. This applies to the "regular" Galaxy Tab 10.1, the "Limited Edition" that was given out at Google I/O, and the 10.1v model (which is thicker and sold in different markets) as well.

Users can head over to Droid Basement to download and install the mod, which allows for a greater selection of behind-the-scenes options, such as the ability to back up and restore your entire system using nandroid as well as integrate with ROM Manager.

Just so you're not worried that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet with its single proprietary 30-pin connector (according to Wikipedia, it's not the standard PDMI port) is going to be crippled in the HDMI, USB, storage, and keyboard department, the company unveiled a whole host of [rather expensive] accessories that should satisfy even the most needy ones among you.

Since over 5000 Google I/O attendees already received and inspected every inch of their 10.1s, you may have already seen a flood of complaints regarding the absence of any kind of standard connectors, be it USB, HDMI, or SD.

So, I'm probably not the best person to write about anything that might encourage someone to buy a DROID Charge (I sure as hell wouldn't, and our friends at Droid-life agree), but here we are. Amazon's offering the Charge for a slightly-more-reasonable price of $200 on a new 2-year agreement or eligible upgrade, down from the absolutely absurd price of $300 you'll get it for everywhere else.

charge

I still wouldn't call it a deal.

What a week for Samsung Galaxy S family device owners! First, the Captivate was officially added to the list of devices supported by CyanogenMod, the largest Android ROM community in the world, and now not 1 but 3 more phones are following suit - the Galaxy S, the T-Mobile Vibrant, and the Sprint Nexus S 4G (crespo4g).

The news hit yesterday, but since no downloadable builds were available from the CM mirror network until late last night, we decided to wait until they're up.
