AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Release Date Announced: October 2nd For $200

We've basically known all there is to know about the US versions of the Galaxy S II for a while now, just short of the release date and price for AT&T and T-Mobile.

You can scratch Ma Bell off that list now, though, as it just announced via Twitter that the long-awaited GSII will be available on October 2nd for $200 with a two-year agreement. I'm sure all AT&T customer have the spec list embedded deep into their memory banks in anticipation of this beauty, but just in case you've forgotten, here they are again:

  • 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display
  • 1.2GHz dual-core Exynos processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8MP rear shooter capable of 1080p video
  • 2MP ffc
  • 16GB internal storage
  • microSD slot
  • HDMI out
  • NFC
  • HSPA+
  • Android 2.3.4

[Tutorial] How To Enable Game Controller Support On The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

With the arrival of Honeycomb 3.1 came some really nice features, including one of the most useful to date: USB host support. This allows users to plug thumb drives, external hard drives, mice, keyboards, and more into their tablets and use them with little-to-no hassle.

Out of the many uses for USB host support, adding a game controller to your tablet is a simple way to have more fun with your device -- it improves the experience with a lot of games, especially if, like me, you hate touchscreen controls.

Samsung Epic 4G Touch's Stunning HD Video Capabilities, Or Why I No Longer Need A Dedicated Camcorder

After getting the Samsung Epic 4G Touch (that's Sprint's Galaxy S II) on launch day, I had to quite conveniently leave on a planned trip to the wine country half-way between San Francisco and Los Angeles. During this trip, I took this sample video in 720p HD resolution to test the Epic 4G Touch's camera performance I've heard so many great things about from everyone outside the U.S. Considering our review of the E4GT is lacking a video test, I thought this post would be the perfect follow-up.

[Review] Samsung Epic 4G Touch: Big Power, Big Performance, Bigger Package

Here we are: the launch of the first Samsung Galaxy S II to hit a U.S. carrier, dubbed the Epic 4G Touch (E4GT) and landing on Sprint today. It certainly took long enough for the SGSII to hit U.S. shores - it was announced by Samsung in February during MWC, and launched as early as May in some markets. It was a huge success even before launch, with Samsung receiving millions of pre-orders, and for good reason - the SGSII was incredibly well rated, with reviewers universally praising it as one of (usually the) best Android device available.

Just In Time For The Release Of The Epic 4G Touch, Samsung Makes The Kernel Source Available

One of the best things about Samsung in recent months has been its timely release of source code for new devices -- often times before they even hit the market. True to form, Sammy just dropped the Epic 4G Touch source in its Open Source Release Center.

This is quite exciting news for those picking up this monster device today (or who already have it in-hand), as only good things come from the development community once the source hits.

Sprint Announces Samsung Transform Ultra For Boost Mobile: 1Ghz Processor And Gingerbread For $230 Without Contract

Boost Mobile, a pay-as-you-go subsidiary of Sprint, is set to add yet another Android-powered device to its lineup: the Samsung Transform Ultra. Like most other Boost phones, the Transform Ultra isn't as powerful as something that you'll find a post-paid carrier, but the lack of a required agreement makes this a very attractive product nonetheless.

While some of the more detailed hardware specs were left out of the official press release (see below), here is what we do know about the Transform Ultra:

  • 1GHz processor
  • 3MP rear camera, VGA front
  • Slide-out QWERTY
  • Android 2.3.x

As I said, it's far from a powerhouse, but it's nothing to scoff at, either.
