Skype V2 Now Working On More "Unsupported" Handsets

Yesterday, Skype with video was officially released to the Android Market. There was one problem, though: it was only supported on a small number of seemingly random handsets, like the Nexus S (but not the Nexus S 4G), Desire S, Xperia neo, and Xperia pro. Thanks to the ingenuity of skilled Android modder 0mie, that's no longer the case.

With 0mie's modded version of Skype 2, video chat should be fully working on a number of recent phones, including the Thunderbolt (running Gingerbread), Sensation, EVO 3D, Galaxy S II, and Droid Charge.

Three Sweden Gets Samsung Galaxy Z, A More Affordable, Lighter-Spec'd Galaxy S II

Among high-end Android phones, Samsung's Galaxy S II pretty much takes the cake. The combination of powerful specs, thinness, and Android 2.3 give it a very competitive edge. But not everybody needs all of that, which is why Samsung is launching the Galaxy Z on Three Sweden. Basically, the Galaxy Z is the same as the Galaxy S II but with slightly toned down specs. Even so, it still puts many other Android phones to shame:

  • 1 GHz dual-core processor (possibly Tegra 2)
  • 4.2" WVGA Super LCD display
  • Android 2.3 with TouchWiz 4.0
  • 8 GB internal memory
  • microSD card slot
  • 5 megapixel camera with LED flash

The phone is currently available for pre-order at the source link below for 3995 SEK, which comes out to around 630 US dollars.

Samsung Galaxy S II Coming To Bell, Virgin Mobile, And SaskTel In Canada, US Still Lies In Wait

While the US patiently waits for any of its carriers to announce the Samsung Galaxy S II, our neighbor to the north just got itself a heaping helping of awesome. Not just one or two, but three Canadian carriers - Bell, Virgin Mobile, and SaskTel - announced that they would be carrying this superphone in the coming weeks.

The only carrier to provide any worthwhile info was SaskTel, stating that the GSII will come in for $79.99 with a three-year agreement, but no official release date was pegged.

Verizon Galaxy Tab 10.1 4G LTE Pre-Order Up, Starts At $529.99 With New 2-Year Enslavement

I'm not sure how well this 4G-ified Tab 10.1 is going to do in terms of sales, but it's coming nonetheless. And in four flavors! And by that, I mean there's two storage options (16GB or 32GB) and two color options (grey or white):

MANYTABS

These prices are, of course, subsidized with a new 2-year data contract. How subsidized? Try $100 off (yes, that's all). Sounds like Verizon is super confident about this thing, too.

Rumor: The Next Nexus Phone May Be Built By Samsung, Has Super AMOLED HD Display

We're as skeptical of oddly-specific rumors as the next blog, but given the source, we feel it'd be negligent of us not to pass on this information to you. A couple weeks back, we reported on a BGR-exclusive story that leaked information about the next Google Nexus Android phone.

Now, "Prime" is rumored to be the device codename being tossed around at the Googleplex for the upcoming handset, but BGR's exclusive source has reason to believe that name will make it to end consumers.
