A few days ago, all variants of the Galaxy Nexus got the first taste of ClockworkMod 6. Now it's available for the Nexus S/4G and the Nexus 7, in both standard and touch varieties.
This new version of CWM brings a host of new features, like faster backups, incremental backups (yay!), a fix for restores over 2GB, and some UI tweaks.
As always, you can either grab the downloads directly from the ClockworkMod site or flash them directly from ROM Manager. Enjoy.
Jelly Bean was announced at Google I/O just recently, but a posting from Google's Android open source guru, Jean-Baptiste Queru has confirmed that Android 4.1 is hitting the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) repository right now. Time for the developers among you to update your clients to get all the official bits.
This release will be tagged as android-4.1.1_r1 in AOSP. While the source is going live now, the full proprietary binaries for Google-blessed devices won't be rolled out until later. Google plans to directly support the Nexus 7, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S, and Xoom through AOSP. Be aware that the addition of the Jelly Bean code to AOSP doesn't mean any OTA updates are on the way.
Last week, JBQ from Google released full flashable images of the newly baked Android 4.0.4 (IMM76D) for a few devices - the GSM Galaxy Nexus i9250 yakju and the Nexus S i9020T (soju). The Nexus S release specifically wasn't compatible with the AT&T version (i9020A sojua), but an image for i9020A was promised at a later date. Additionally, builds for the Nexus S 4G on Sprint and other variants as well as the Verizion Galaxy Nexus were to follow.
Today, the Nexus Factory Images page was updated with some of the promised goodies, although not all of them with versions we were quite hoping for.
In the last 2 days, we've seen a whole lot of Android 4.0.4 goodies. First, Google unleashed the Android 4.0.4 AOSP code, then followed up by sending out incremental OTA updates to the Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, and XOOM Wi-Fi. Maintaining the momentum, today our favorite Android release engineer JBQ today put together full OS images for the GSM Nexus S and GSM Galaxy Nexus, which can be used to completely restore compatible devices back to stock.
Did a flash go wrong? Did you wipe /system by accident? Don't have an upgrade path to 4.0.4? Don't worry - with these full images you can forget your trouble and start with a clean slate.
An new official update IMM76 (Android 4.0.4) is poised to roll out for the Nexus S. The update file, which weighs 18MB, can be downloaded directly from Google's servers and applied only over stock IML74K (Android 4.0.3):

It has been shown to work on the i9023 variant, and we're currently trying to figure out whether it works on different flavors of the i9020. If you have the Nexus S 4G on Sprint, sorry, this update is definitely not for you - you have access to 4.0.4 already anyway. And, of course, if you have the Verizon Galaxy Nexus, your 4.0.4 update leaked last month here.
I know what all you non-Nexus S owners are thinking: wait, didn't the ICS update roll out to the NS back in December? In fact, it did. But there was some sort of battery drain issue, so Google had to stop the update. And that's the last semi-official thing we heard about it.
Needless to say, Nexus S owners are pissed.
Today, however, Engadget has received "confirmation" from a "trusted source" that the ICS update is set to begin rolling out to the NS (again) and the NS4G "in the next few weeks." While it shouldn't take this long for El Goog to push an update to a Nexus-branded device, it's nice to hear some movement is finally being made on this front.
Just under a week after receiving almost unprecedented support from the Android community to fund the purchase of new build servers, the CM team has begun pumping out CM9 nightlies for a handful of devices. There's no question - the CM team is moving quickly, and the release of so many nightlies in such a short time span is exciting, to say the least.
Koushik Dutta, in a Google+ post earlier this evening, expressed appreciation, confirming that CyanogenMod "was able to purchase 3 top of the line, ridiculously geared, build servers," which will soon have an automatic build schedule. Dutta also indicated that CM7 nightly builds will be up and running again soon.
Just days after hearing about the leaked release of Android 4.0.4 for the Nexus 4G, French mobile phone company SFR has not only announced (Google Translate) which devices will be getting ICS in the coming months, it has also confirmed the existence of Android 4.0.5.
According to its post, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S will be receiving an OTA update to Android 4.0.5 sometime in March, while the HTC Sensation and Galaxy SII will be updated to Android 4.0. In addition, a number of older Android devices, including the LG Optimus Black, HTC Desire S, Desire HD, Samsung Galaxy S, Galaxy Pro, and Motorola Defy+ will be updated to various versions of Android 2.3.
After Koush tantalized users with a video showing off the first official touch-based ClockworkMod Recovery interface two days ago, CWM has taken to Google+ and posted download links for the official beta, making CWM Touch Recovery available to Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S users.
Update #1: Nexus S 4G now supported.
Update #2: According to Koush, the newest ROM Manager update that is being rolled out now has a new option to download ClockworkMod Touch for supported devices as an in-app purchase (or for free at http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager).
It's worth noting that (for now) the beta is only available for the Nexus S' GSM variant (Update: NS4G now too), and for both CDMA and GSM versions of Samsung's Galaxy Nexus.
