Nexus Prime Screenshots And Videos Emerge, Gives Us A Good Look At Polished Ice Cream Sandwich

The Prime leaks are rolling out in full force now, and we're really starting to get a good look at what Ice Cream Sandwich is all about. While Google and Samsung decided to cancel the Unpacked event -- originally set for October 11th -- where the Prime and ICS were to be announced, at least we have something to look at while we wait for the date to be rescheduled.

First off, the crew over at MyDroidWorld have gotten their hands on the Prime boot animation, threw it on a Droid Bionic, and shot a video for all to see. It's sleek, fast, and overall looks pretty cool.

[Updated] Samsung And Google Postpone Nexus Prime And Ice Cream Sandwich Announcements

We've been hearing about the Nexus Prime for months now, but things have really been heating up in the past week or so: first, Samsung released an official teaser trailer about the event and gave us a glimpse of the device's side profile. And yesterday, we had two conflicting sets of specs "leak out" (though obviously neither was confirmed). Finally, the official AndroidDevelopers YouTube account put up a video called "Android ICS Launch," set to stream during the Samsung Unpacked event in which the Prime and ICS were set to be revealed.

Update: Samsung's own blog confirms the delay.

More Nexus Prime Specs Leak, Strongly Disagree With Previous Information

Oh, snap -- things are starting to get real now. This morning, BGR broke some exclusive info on the Nexus Prime that they obtained from a "trusted source." Now, GSMarena is reporting that they also have exclusive info on the upcoming device, but there's one problem: the latter strongly disagrees with the former. In fact, about the only thing the two sources are in agreeance about is the display --a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED HD running at 1280x720.

So, let's have a look at what GSMarena's source is saying the Prime will be packing:

  • 1.5GHz dual-core processor, most likely Exynos
  • PowerVR SGX543MP2 GPU (the same one that's in the iPad 2)
  • 8MP rear shooter with 1080p video capture
  • 2050mAh battery
  • Global-ready

I have to say, that sounds more like a Nexus device to me.

Probable Nexus Prime Hardware Specs Leak: 1.2GHz Dual-Core OMAP And 4.65-Inch Super AMOLED HD Display

It's apparent that the Nexus Prime/Galaxy Nexus announcement is getting closer, as new information is starting to surface almost daily. Today, the hardware specs have been revealed by a "trusted source" in BGR's camp -- so let's have a look:

  • Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (Note: we're still not sure of the version number for ICS, so take that with a grain of salt)
  • 9mm thin
  • 4.65-inch 1280 x 720-pixel Super AMOLED HD with curved glass
  • TI OMAP 4460 dual-core Cortex A9 processor clocked at 1.2GHz
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 32GB of built-in storage
  • 5-megapixel camera on the back, 1.3-megapixel in the front
  • 1080p HD video capture support
  • LTE/HSPA depending on carrier
  • Wi-Fi a/b/g/n
  • NFC
  • 1,750 mAh battery

After reading through the specs, it's clear that there are a couple of things that may come off a bit...

Here It Is - Samsung Gives Us A Peek At The Nexus Prime (Or Whatever It Will Be Called) In Teaser Video Leading Up To Mobile Unpacked

Hot on the heels of the Nexus Prime's blurrycam debut, Samsung has provided us a tantalizing peek at the so-called Nexus Prime in a teaser video leading up to Mobile Unpacked 2011, where they are sure to unveil Google's next flagship device.

It appears that rumors pointing toward a curved display are true, and that the Nexus Prime will share the sleek, trim form factor that we've come to expect from Samsung's mobile offerings. BriefMobile speculates that the three dots we're seeing on the right side of the device will be its docking connection, and that the camera will jut out forming the slight chin we see on the backside of the Prime's alleged 4.6" 720p display.

First Blurrycam Shot Of The Nexus Prime Shows Up, Shows Off On-Screen Buttons And 320 PPI

Of all the questions that have been surrounding the upcoming Nexus Prime, there has been quite a bit of intrigue about the buttons, or lack thereof, I should say. How will it work? What will the on-screen buttons look like? How will Ice Cream Sandwich work on device that already has physical buttons?  ...and that's just the beginning of the inquiries.

While we still can't confirm how ICS will handle the latter, thanks to a leaked blurrycam photo obtained by GSMarena, we now have a better idea of what to possibly expect from the Nexus Prime and its button configuration.

More Nexus Prime Info Leaks: 'Official' Name, Screen Size, Device Thickness, And Possible Launch Date

Rumors surrounding the next Nexus, internally known as the "Prime," are really starting to pour out now. Firstly, we saw a document that suggested a rather disappointing screen resolution, which fortunately, was later revealed to be nothing more than a placeholder. On top of that, Eric Schmidt outed the tentative release timeframe for Ice Cream Sandwich yesterday: October or November.

With all of this in mind, GSMarea has gotten ahold of some info from a "trusted source" on the Prime, and if true, will be the biggest payload we've seen yet.

First up is the name. We've actually heard that it could be called the Droid Prime on VZW, but for the majority of its life thus far, it has been referred to as the Nexus Prime.

Phew - Nexus Prime Wap File With 480x800 Resolution Just A Placeholder After All

Yesterday we reported on a shocking bit of news discovered within an XML file on Samsung's website. The file nexusprime.xml suggested that the next Nexus device was to have a screen resolution of just 480x800. This, along with the ARM11 processor listed in the file proved to be a source of concern for many, but the bewildering specs seemed too out of place to be true.

After some digging around (thanks, Florin and others who raised valid concerns), a similar file for the Nexus S was discovered on Samsung's site in the very same folder (nexuss.xml). The two turn out to be exactly the same, save for the model numbers of the devices they represent.

Nexus Prime User Agent Profile Spotted On Samsung's Site - "Really?" Responds Android Community

For those still wondering whether Android's first Ice Cream Sandwich device will be made by Samsung, there may finally be a definitive answer. A file recently spotted on Sammy's website called "nexusprime.xml" tells us that the answer is yes.

The XML file contains the User Agent Profile for what we are assuming is the Nexus Prime, but there are a few shocking revelations buried within. The first thing that stands out is the screen resolution, which is listed as 480x800. This goes against just about every Nexus Prime rumor we've seen that have indicated a 720p resolution.

Additionally, the file lists an ARM11 processor, and the model number GT-I9250 - a number that we've seen before.
