Every Nexus release thus far has been accompanied by a neat YouTube-based Nexus Unboxing video craziness (see 1 and 2). The Galaxy Nexus launch in the U.S. is no exception - in fact, it turns out to be the subject of Android's tease this past weekend (which some folks found kind of disappointing considering the level of expectations reached something like FREE NEXUS FOR EVERYONE!!11, ICS for all devices, and the release of Majel).

Ninja's Unboxing 3, as before, takes over the fake YouTube video page, but this time gets down 8-bit style. 3 levels later, and... never mind, I won't tell you how it ends - nobody likes spoilers, right?

wallet

If, like many LTE Galaxy Nexus users, you are frustrated by Verizon's choice to block Google Wallet from Samsung's hottest new device, and don't want to root just yet, XDA has some good news. It turns out that Google's standard Wallet APK can be installed on the Nexus' LTE variant without issue.

The news came after many rooted users reported issues using a flashable .zip file to get Google Wallet up and running. Of course, users installing Wallet on their new Nexus devices are also eligible for the standard $10.00 credit courtesy of Google, making the news that much sweeter.

Without further ado, click either of the download links below and start impressing unwitting bystanders as you pay for purchases using your LTE Galaxy Nexus.

Finally. It's real.

After all the rumored release dates, and Verizon's best efforts to sweep this phone under the carpet, the Galaxy Nexus for Verizon is real. It's real and I have one.

I picked it up on launch day at 8am, at a pretty busy Verizon store. I went on a long Ice Cream Sandwich bender, and now I'm here to report my first impressions.

First off, forget all that technical Pentile stuff. I want to hate Pentile, I really do, but the screen is just gorgeous. I'm normally the type to complain about Pentile's checkerboard layout, but the pixels are so tiny I just can't see it.

After a rollercoaster of emotions and months of waiting, the back-from-mythical Galaxy Nexus was finally released on Verizon yesterday, but were the main reasons for the delays, in fact, related to unstable and poor connectivity? I've had endless problems with connectivity on the Thunderbolt (even with the latest firmware), and plenty of you had similar issues with pretty much all other LTE devices.

Can the Galaxy Nexus be no different? I assumed loss of data (even 3G, I'm not even talking about 4G here) and voice was a thing of the past with the Nexus, but having run into this Reddit post with multiple confirmations, I decided to do a quick poll using our social media accounts.

Galaxy-Nexus

Update x2: Amazon Wireless just dropped the price of the Galaxy Nexus for new subscribers down to $150 (still $250 for upgrades). It's only "for a limited time" so you better hurry!
Update: Wirefly just dropped the price a bit more, down to $190 with a new two-year agreement or $240 for upgrades.

Well, it's finally here – Verizon's variant of the hotly anticipated Galaxy Nexus is available at last, going live with a variety of online retailers just moments ago.

First up is VZW, offering what is perhaps their most hotly anticipated device this year for the hefty price of $299 with a new 2 year agreement.

Update: We've also got the images for the newest update to the Galaxy Nexus, Android 4.0.2:

Google Android software engineer Jean-Baptiste Queru has just let loose a factory image of the Verizon Galaxy Nexus, meaning developers now have an official software build to recover from bricks and to tinker with to their hearts' contents. You can find the image, ITL41D, here. The post also indicates more Verizon Galaxy Nexus goodies will be coming later, so we'll keep you updated as more is released.

It should be noted that this is not an image of the OTA update that was released earlier today, ICL53F.

If you're the proud new owner of a Galaxy Nexus on Verizon, then your device should be receiving its first OTA update sometime today. It's mostly a bug-fixer, with a few optimizations thrown into the mix:

Device features

  • Optimized Mobile Hotspot when used with VPN.
  • Optimized 3G/4G data sessions for faster response times.
  • Fixed an incorrect notification that “data wasdisconnected due to roaming”.
  • Wi-Fi now automatically reconnects when returning to a known Access Point.
  • Improvements to special visual effects feature when using front-facing camcorder.
  • Visual improvements to the lock screen.

Email and Messaging

  • Fixed an issue where some email attachments would not open correctly.

There's no doubt that a good number of you are foaming at the mouth waiting to get your hands on the Galaxy Nexus, which is finally available today. While we've already seen a few sites drop the price a bit, none have been able to match the price that LetsTalk is offering the GN for: $155 for new customers, $175 for upgrades. That's half-off the price that VZW is asking for new customers!

The original price for the device is $230 for new customers and $250 for upgrades, so in order to knock an addition $75 off of LetsTalk's already-low price, all you need to do is use coupon code $75VZN at the checkout (shown above).

Here it is boys and gals, the moment we've all been waiting for - the official launch date for the Galaxy Nexus on Verizon. The Android dreams of so many of us across the country will finally be fulfilled tomorrow, December 15th for three-hundred bones and a two-year agreement.

Update: The phone will go on sale on vzw.com at 1 a.m. EST December 15th.

Seems like we've been waiting for an eternity - who's going to be waiting in line?

Note: This is the press release the way it's written for tomorrow, therefore any mentions of "today" are actually December 15th.

The final release date for the worst Android device launch in Verizon's history since the Thunderbolt and the Bionic is still unclear, but some Best Buy locations apparently didn't get the memo and started selling the Galaxy Nexus ahead of schedule. Some of those who were lucky enough to grab this holiday season's hottest LTE-enabled Ice Cream Sandwich gadget decided to let the photos do the talking, as folks tend to get pretty edgy when it comes to Galaxy Nexus news. Let's have a look, shall we?

First up we have Sean Bates, aka sfbates, who posted the following:

I'm not sure what the deal is with all 9s in the SKU, but something tells me someone either made a booboo or knowingly sold an item with a SKU that clearly indicated the item was not meant to be for sale just yet.
