Nexus 10 16GB And 32GB Once Again Sold Out On The U.S. Google Play Store [Update: They're Back]

Google's stock woes continue into the new year, with Nexus devices in short supply for the official Android hardware vendor. After a brief restock earlier this month, both the 16GB and 32GB versions of the Nexus 10 tablet are completely sold out in the United States Play Store. There's no way to know when more stock will be available, though we wouldn't blame you for hanging on to your hard-earned cash for a new Nexus device at Google I/O. In May.

If you've got your hearts set on the drool-inducing Samsung tablet, don't give up hope: there's always retail outlets.

CyanogenMod 10.1 M-Series Builds Rolling Out Now For Select Devices, More Coming Soon

With CM10, the CyanogenMod team started pushing out M-Series releases, which are designed to be a more stable alternative to nightly builds. In fact, CM cites these builds as being "mostly stable and ready for everyday use."

We saw two runs of M builds show up for CM10, which were followed by the stable release a few weeks later. Now, the team has released the first M build of CM10.1 for several devices:

  • Samsung Captivate
  • Samsung Nexus S (+4G)
  • Samsung Galaxy S3 USA models (D2*)
  • Samsung Galaxy S (galaxysmtd/galaxysbmtd)
  • Google Nexus 7
  • Google Galaxy Nexus (all variants)
  • Google Nexus 4
  • Google Nexus 10
  • ODroid U2
  • Samsung P3100, P3110
  • Samsung P5100, P5110

Of course, this is just a starter list and more devices will be added in the coming days/weeks.

Nexus 10 Back In Stock On The U.S. Play Store (For Now) In Both 16GB And 32GB Flavors

Like riding a roller coaster, it seems like ordering Nexus devices from the Play Store is full of its ups and downs. Today, it's up! At least, for the 16GB and 32GB Nexus 10 for U.S. customers. The two tablets have just gone back in stock via Google's storefront. There is even an encouraging "Ships in less than one week" disclaimer. Ordering seems to be working flawlessly at the moment, though, there isn't a huge rush right now. Still, if you're looking to get one, this would be a good time.

Tired Of Waiting On The Play Store? Staples Has The 32GB Nexus 10 In Stock, Ready To Ship [Update: Out Of Stock]

Update: At the time of writing, Staples has marked the Nexus 10 "Out of Stock." We'll let you know if and when it reappears.

It's no secret that the Nexus 10 has been sold out in the Play Store for some time now. Anxious would-be customers who are tired of waiting for the ten-inch Nexus with the fabled 2560x1600 (300ppi) display now have another solution, though – Staples has the 32GB Nexus 10 listed in stock, and estimates a delivery time of 2 business days.

The tablet was listed on Staples' website a few days prior to the time of writing, but was "out of stock." Today, however, it's ready to ship, though the Nexus' availability appears to be limited to the office chain's website and perhaps a few lucky physical locations.

First CyanogenMod 10 Nightly For The Nexus 10 Released

If you're itching to ROM up your Nexus 10, now's probably the time to start - CyanogenMod 10 nightlies have officially landed for Google's large Nexus slate, available now at the CM website.

Android 4.2.1 (JOP40D) Rolling Out To Nexus 10, Nexus 7 Wi-Fi, And Nexus 7 Wi-Fi/3G – Manual Update Available [Updated]

Just grab the matching file below, both of which clock in at a slim ~1MB. The main fix in this build is for the now-famous December People app bug. The update should appear on your device in the coming days, but maybe your contacts have some big events coming up in December and you just can't wait to add them.

Google Pushing Android 4.2.1 OTA, Fixes The 'December Bug'

Earlier this month, we reported on a pretty big omission in Android 4.2's People app: Google forgot December. So, any birthdays, anniversaries, or other important dates you may have needed to note for that month were simply impossible to document. Now, though, it looks like El Goog is fixing that issue with a small 1.1MB update. This OTA is, of course, labeled as Android 4.2.1, and aside from the December fix, we're not sure of what else it may bring.

Yeah, we know, Google goofed the Nexus 4 launch. It's a bummer. But if you didn't manage to get your order in, you can now obsessively check availability in your respective country using the Play Store Availability Checker. The site offers two view options: the whole Nexus device list for your respective country (link), or a list for a single device in all Play Store countries (link).

Nexus 10 Toolkit Now Available: Get Your Tweak On The Easy Way

A few days ago, developer mskip released the Nexus 4 toolkit, which simplifies the unlock/root/recovery/etc. process on the device. The same dev has now released the Nexus 10 toolkit, which does essentially the same thing, only for Google's first 10" slate. These toolkits really take the work out of doing a number of otherwise potentially tedious tasks:
