Samsung Galaxy Stellar Jelly Bean Update (JZO54K.I200VRBMA1) Coming Soon, Google Now Comes To The Mid-Range

Samsung seems to have gotten the hang of updating phones besides the major flagships. While it's still coming about nine months after the release of Jelly Bean and nearly six months after the release of the handset, the Galaxy Stellar will be upgraded to 4.1 "soon", according to these Verizon support docs. The OTA will bring the much-beloved Google Now as well as expandable notifications and all the other goodies of the newest tasty treat.

The update is 403.6MB in size, so you're going to want to be on WiFi when you download it. While we don't yet know exactly when the OTA will start, it usually doesn't take too long between the arrival of these support docs and the initial rollout.

Samsung Galaxy Stellar Receiving Minor OTA Update (VRALH2) Soon

If you head on over to Verizon's support page, you can find a changelog for a decidedly minor update to the Samsung Galaxy Stellar (version VRALH2). The update improves backlight brightness coming out of sleep mode, boosts voice quality, and fixes some bugs that may have led to "rare occurrences" of device resets.

If you have a Stellar, this update should be rolling out to you in the next couple of weeks.

Samsung Releases Kernel Source Code For The Just-Announced Galaxy Stellar 4G, Galaxy S Duos

This morning, Verizon officially announced the Galaxy Stellar 4G, a mid-range handset that will be available beginning on September 6th. Samsung is running two steps ahead, as the company just released the kernel source code for the device. This basically means that ROM devs and kernel hackers can download the source and have tweaks in place before the device is even released.

Also newly available on Samsung's Open Source Release Center is the kernel source for the Galaxy S Duos, a dual-SIM handset recently announced for the European market.

Verizon Officially Launches The Galaxy Stellar For Free On Contract And After Rebate

When we last heard about the Samsung Galaxy Stellar, a mid-range device coming to Verizon, Aaron was left wondering why this device was alleged to cost more than the Galaxy Nexus on contract. Well, now we have the answer: it doesn't! The 4" LTE device will be free with a 2-year contract, though that's after a $50 mail-in rebate.

Samsung Galaxy Stellar - Formerly 'Jasper' - Pops Up At Best Buy, Spills The Beans Ahead Of Release

First we caught a glimpse of the Samsung Jasper, a mid-range device slated for Big Red. Then Droid Life was leaked a photo of the price card for the Samsung Galaxy Stellar. Now we know they're one and the same,courtesy of a full product listing that has cropped up on Best Buy.

Though the Stellar is listed as available for store pickup beginning today, it's actually unavailable in stores at this point. That could be because it's before the stores have opened, or because the date was simply entered incorrectly.
