Alleged Samsung Galaxy S III Shows Up On Video Packing A 1.4GHz Quad-Core Processor And 720p Display

Anyone who reads Android Police knows that we generally spend a lot more time debunking rumors and leaks than we do actually reporting them as valid news. With that said, this could be the best look we've seen at the upcoming Galaxy S III yet (if Samsung chooses to stick with that name, of course). While this is most definitely a real device, it's possible that it could be something different than the GSIII altogether, though I honestly doubt that Sammy would pack this kind of hardware into anything other than its highest-end flagship:

  • 4.6-inch 1280x720 Super AMOLED display
  • 1.4GHz quad-core processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8MP rear camera
  • 16GB built-in storage, microSD card slot
  • NFC
  • 2,050mAh battery
  • Android 4.0

Okay, okay.

Samsung China CEO Kim Young-ha: 'The Company Is Considering Rescheduling The Rollout Of The Galaxy S III From May To April' In China

After tons of leaks (mostly ridiculous), we're finally starting to hear some concrete information about the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy S III, this time directly from the source: Samsung China CEO Kim Young-ha.

In a recent interview, Young-ha stated that Samsung is aiming to boost sales by 40% in China by launching an aggressive marking campaign for products such as TVs, laptops, home appliances, and, our favorite, smartphones. Since the Galaxy Note is already wildly popular in the Chinese market, Young-ha said Samsung is "considering rescheduling the rollout of the Galaxy S III from May to April," which makes this the first confirmation that we've heard from Samsung regarding any sort of potential GSIII launch timeframe.

[Rumor Stomp] New Samsung Galaxy S III Image Leaks, Claims To Be An Official Press Photo, Is Definitely Fake

The Samsung Galaxy S III rumors have been gathering quite a bit of pace lately. Just a few days ago, we saw a leaked image of what the phone could potentially look like, although we had our doubts over its authenticity due to the presence of physical buttons below the screen and the form factor of the device.

Fast forward a few days, and another image has "leaked" online, this time from the Dutch website GSM Helpdesk.

[Rumor] Samsung Galaxy SIII May Feature Inductive Charging "Secret Weapon"

Despite the fact that Samsung has said almost nothing about the upcoming Galaxy SIII, the rumor mill is churning so hard it threatens to break free from its foundation. The latest rumor about Sammy's upcoming flagship is pretty great – DDaily, a Korean IT news publication, is reporting (via anonymous sources) that Samsung's Galaxy SIII may have a "secret weapon" – a built-in inductive charger.

While the Galaxy SIII wouldn't be the first device to come standard with inductive charging (remember Palm's Touchstone?), DDaily reports that Samsung's wireless charging plans go a step further – evidently, the SIII wouldn't even need to be touching the charging mat to begin charging.

Alleged Samsung Employee Allegedly Leaks Alleged Photo Of The Galaxy S III - The Plot Thickens

Following the controversy surrounding a potentially leaked image of Samsung's upcoming Galaxy SIII, many were left (still) wondering just what Sammy's flagship would actually look like. Thickening the plot significantly, a Redditor has stepped up and posted what is claimed to be a real photo of the actual Galaxy SIII, provided by an employee of Samsung.

Just under an hour ago, the Redditor (using a throwaway or one-off account), posted the photo, claiming that the Samsung employee provided not only a photo, but some juicy details as well.

[Analysis] Is Today's Galaxy SIII Leak The Real Deal? Probably Not

Today's suspected Galaxy SIII leak caused quite a stir in the Android community, of course sparking concerns over validity, likelihood that Samsung would choose such a form factor for the upcoming flagship, and just when we may see the real thing up close. A great summary of the leak on Reddit, and the subsequent comment thread got me thinking, though: just how likely is it that the leak is real?

Could This Possibly Be The Samsung Galaxy S III?

Samsung has been holding on somewhat tightly to any details of its highly anticipated upcoming flagship, the Galaxy S III. We've heard a few ridiculous rumors here and there over the past several weeks, but today's "leak" looks to be the most believable thus far - either that, or a masterfully created hoax.

As pointed out in this thread on Reddit, there are many aspects of this leak worth pointing out, beginning with the biggest hints of all: the date in the calendar and location in the weather widget.

Samsung Says Galaxy S III Launch Date Rumors Are Untrue, Won't Even Confirm It's Called The Galaxy S III

It's always strange to see a company directly comment on rumors about its own products, but Samsung doesn't seem to take issue with it, as a statement they made to The Verge late last night confirms.

The latest speculation Samsung has cracked down on has been in regard to the Galaxy S III, stemming from a ZDNet Korea article that indicated the device would be unveiled next month. Here's the rough Google translation of the original tweet from Samsung's Korean arm regarding the issue:

[Please note] Some known through press releases Galaxy S3 4 월 stand is not true.

Rumor: Samsung Galaxy S III To Be Better Than Galaxy S II In Numerous And Suspiciously Predictable Ways

I don't like talking about "industry insider" rumors. They are inevitably wrong about one detail or another, end up being total speculation, or are just downright trolls. Those that are true tend to be the ones that are very detailed and often leak their way out days, or hours, before a device's launch. Rumors that circulate months beforehand? Not so much.

But the Galaxy S III (if it will even be called that) is likely going to be the most anticipated Android device of the year, especially after the worldwide success of the Galaxy S II.
