T-Mobile's Samsung Galaxy S II Will Come With A 1.5GHz Dual-Core Snapdragon According To GalaxySsupport's Twitter

When Samsung officially unveiled the US variants of the Galaxy S II, the spec sheet for T-Mobile's variant was oddly absent from the show. After that, we started hearing that it would not be sporting the same Exynos processor of its AT&T and Sprint siblings, but rather a chip from a "different manufacturer," with no word as to who that manufacturer could be.

Today, though, one Twitter-er had enough with the guesswork and decided to get an answer directly from the source: @GalaxySsupport, the official support account for all US Galaxy S devices. The first response was a bit lackluster however, only stating only that it "has a dual core processor." Naturally, this answer was just not good enough, so the question was asked again, this time with more detail.

The Samsung Galaxy S II (SGSII) has been one of the most highly anticipated devices in recent memory - perhaps second only to the annual new iPhone. There are two very good reasons for this: first, the original Galaxy S devices were hailed as some of the best on the market. Samsung Galaxy S II For AT&T And T-Mobile Has NFC, Sprint's Variant Lacking

Adding to the pile of news surrounding the Samsung Galaxy S II this week, we have some new info -- some good and some bad . The good news is that the AT&T and T-Mobile variants will both be equipped with NFC. Engadget (along with François Simond) took a peak earlier today into the system files of AT&T's S II variant and found conclusive evidence of NFC presence, including a pre-installed app, but whether mobile payments will be one of the SII's capabilities remains to be seen. Additionally, FCC filings from T-Mobile confirm NFC is onboard for its GSII as well.

Galaxy SII Variants For Sprint, AT&T, And T-Mobile Officially Announced - Coming Mid-September

The official Galaxy S II press conference has only just begun (it's streaming live now), but all 3 carriers we've been expecting to see the S II on - Sprint, AT&T, and T-Mobile - have already sent out their press releases.

The Galaxy SII is already available in Europe and Korea, debuting as Samsung's fastest selling smartphone to date. The 3 variants in the U.S. will share many of the same specs, but some aspects, such as the screen sizes, battery capacities, and mobile radios, will be different.

Here are some of the common specs:

Blazing fast 1.2GHz dual-core Exynos processor
Super AMOLED Plus display
8MP camera capable of 1080p video - the S II takes some of the best video we've seen on any phone
2MP front-facing camera
16GB built-in storage
microSD card slot with support for 32GB
HDMI out at 1080p
Android 2.3 (most likely 2.3.4)
4G of some kind (HSPA+ on T-Mobile and AT&T, WiMax on Sprint)
802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi
On-device encryption of user data
Voice Talk voice commands (this is not the same as Google Voice Search)
Screen Capture built right in (press the Power+Home keys simultaneously)

One specific spec worth highlighting is Samsung's Exynos processor, which should be quite a bit faster than the Tegra 2 that most dual-core phones have been using so far (with the exception of the TI OMAP on a few models).

We've all been waiting for weeks - nay, months - for Sammy to bring the Galaxy S II to the US. Announcement day is finally upon us despite a bit of a delay due to bad weather, but Sammy has already revealed the Sprint version of the GSII, named the Epic 4G Touch, ahead of tonight's event.

The Epic 4G Touch will sport a larger, 4.52-inch Super AMOLED Plus display, verses the 4.3-inch screen of its global counterpart. This version will also include 4G WiMax connectivity and the familiar 1.2GHz Exynos processor.

While we were hoping for a bump in processing speed up to 1.5GHz, the larger display is definitely a welcome addition.

Beefed Up Samsung Galaxy S II LTE Headed To Rogers This Fall

We told you about Rogers' plan to bring LTE to the Toronto area this morning, which included a mention of the LTE infused Galaxy S II. More information about this monster device has now surfaced, and it is chocked full of upgrades.

Aside from the inclusion of LTE connectivity, this device will be housing a 1.5GHz processor (most likely Exynos), NFC, and a 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display, making this the most likely candidate for beastliest device of the year.

No exact release date is available just yet, only that it will be available sometime this fall. Congrats, Canada - I'm officially jealous.

Samsung Officially Announces The Tab 8.9 LTE And The Upgraded 1.5GHz 4.5" Galaxy S II LTE. Could The US S II Variants Have These Upgrades At Launch?

Whoosh - looks like we can take the report of upgrades to the already impressive Galaxy S II and the upcoming Tab 8.9 from the rumor bucket and place it carefully on top of the confirmed stack. In fact, the rumor was not only spot-on regarding everything Samsung just officially announced, it even had more information that Samsung didn't cover, which means some details will keep the rumor tag until we find out more.

First up, the Galaxy S II LTE (hilariously misspelled as LITE in the official blog post in one place - it's anything but lite) is not only gaining an LTE radio, it's indeed getting bumped from 1.2GHz to 1.5GHz - still dual-core, of course.

Samsung Galaxy S II Event In NYC Postponed Due To Hurricane Irene

We've practically been counting down the days until Samsung's Galaxy S II event, which was originally scheduled for Monday, August 29, but now it looks like we'll have to add at least one more day to the count. Thanks to Hurricane Irene, New York City has been declared in a state of emergency and over 250,000 people have been evacuated, thus forcing Sammy to postpone the event at least one day, to Tuesday, August 30th.

Of course, we've been waiting this long... I guess one more day isn't going to hurt anyone.
