Sprint's Galaxy Note II With LTE Will Launch On October 25th For $300, Offers Rebate To Get Your Arm And Leg Back

For the first time, Samsung's largest flagship line will be landing on Sprint with the Galaxy Note II. During the initial launch, though, you better know you want it as this device will come with a whopping $300 price tag with a new two year contract. This isn't unheard of for some major devices, but it still ranks as one of the most expensive handsets you can buy.

The Note II will be launching with Android 4.1.1, LTE, and the same Exynos processor as the international version. As we know, devices that use the Exynos 4 processor require a discrete LTE chip outside the SoC itself which can add thickness to a phone.

Residents of the great white north have a special treat coming up soon. The Galaxy Note II is coming to Mobilicity the day before Halloween. If you know you're going to want it on day one, though, you can sign up for a pre-order right now and get $50 off. Unfortunately, the ad doesn't specify just what price you'll get $50 off of.

One tipster sent in an email that he received after placing his order. The email seemed to have an additional stipulation that you must be one of the first 1,000 people to purchase and activate your phone. If there are more than 1,000 pre-orders, it's unclear if everyone will receive the $50 credit.

Samsung Releases Kernel Source Code For The Galaxy Note II

Now that the Galaxy Note II has been released in select European countries alongside a few other places around the world, Samsung has released the kernel source code for the device, along with other open source software components.

Although the kernel source will be of little use to regular consumers initially, ROM developers may be able to use it to ensure that their software performs as well as it can do on the phone. That means better performance and more stability, so even if you aren't a code aficionado, this is still good news for you.

Samsung Rolls Out The First Firmware Update For The Galaxy Note II, Enables Two Window Multi-View In The UK And France

The Samsung Galaxy Note II, which started to ship in international markets during the past week, has just received its first firmware update, enabling multi-view mode to take advantage of the phone's huge 5.5-inch display.

The new firmware will allow users to view two windows at once, without constantly switching from one app to another. If, for example, you were watching a movie and you received a text message, you'd normally have to leave the movie app to open the messaging app. Now, if you have both apps open side by side, you can do both at once without being interrupted.

Samsung Galaxy Note II Now Available From Vodafone UK, Free With A Contract Of £47 A Month

Following the release of the Samsung Galaxy Note II in the UK on Monday, Vodafone is now offering the device alongside Three.

The network has only the white version of the Note II for now, with plans starting at £33 a month for 600 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of data. At this price, you will also have to pay £149 up-front. For £37 a month, you can get unlimited minutes and texts and double your data allowance to 1GB per month as well, with the phone costing £99.

Vodafone isn't the best network in the UK for data hungry users, but you can jump to 2GB of data every month on its £42 and £47 a month plans.

Orange And T-Mobile UK Announce Three Android 4G Phones Ahead Of EE's Launch At The End Of This Month

Orange and T-Mobile UK, the two companies forming the new 4G EE network in the UK, have launched three 4G capable Android phones today.

That means that if you're an Orange or T-Mobile customer, you can now buy the Samsung Galaxy S III LTE, HTC One XL, or Huawei Ascend P1 LTE on contract to ensure that you're ahead of the game before 4G goes live in the UK at the end of this month.

Update: EE will launch on October 30th, as per Olaf Swantee, CEO of EE:

We are delighted to announce that the official launch of our new customer brand, EE, offering the UK’s first superfast mobile 4G and fibre broadband service, will take place on the 30th October 2012.

Samsung Galaxy Note II Now Available On Three UK From £34 A Month, Pay As You Go Available For £499.99

When the original Galaxy Note came out in the UK, it was met with a certain amount of skepticism from consumers. However, Samsung obviously knew what it was doing, as the device has gone on to sell really well. Fast forward a few months, and it's time for round 2: the Galaxy Note II comes with a bigger screen, a more comfortable aspect ratio, and it's available from today on Three.

The cheapest monthly plan for the phone is £34 for the 'Ultimate Internet 500.' That gives you truly unlimited data, 5000 text messages, and 500 minutes every month. If you want more minutes, you can choose to opt for the One Plan instead, which will put you back £36 a month and bump you up to 2000 any network minutes and 5000 same network minutes.

Samsung has really been talking up the Note II lately. For good reason, too - it looks pretty amazing. While they have already showed off some of its more notable features, a new video of the Korean version is now available on YouTube highlighting a few features that we haven't seen before, like multi-window. Start around the two-minute mark below to catch it in action.

Pretty amazing, no? It's like they took everything Ron hated about the Note 10.1's "multitasking" feature and fixed it. They split-screen several different apps here - some proprietary, some not. GTalk makes an appearance (including a video-chat no less), as well as S Note, the stock browser, messaging, and a few more.

Wow, AT&T. Instead of sending multiple device announcements on different days, the company just announced a few new smartphones and a tablet for its 4G LTE network, all of which are made by Samsung. Let's take a look, shall we?

Samsung Is Holding An Event On October 24th In New York, US Note II Availability Announcements Imminent?

We already know the Galaxy Note II is headed to all of America's "big four" carriers with Exynos and LTE (well, LTE on 3 out of 4) in tow. What we don't know is when. Samsung promised "before the holidays," but that's a pretty large window. It seems likely that window is about to close - next month.

Samsung has announced an event to be held on October 24th in NYC, and the invitation makes it quite obvious what the topic of discussion will be.
