[Update: Winner!] Win A Samsung Galaxy Note II (N7100) From Handy Apps And Android Police

When it comes to online safety and passwords, I live and die by a password manager. I use one on my PCs, as well as my Android smartphones and tablets. This way, I always have my passwords with me, and I only have to remember one (to get into the password manager). In fact, I've never even seen some of my passwords when I use a generator.

[Update: Sprint's, Too] Verizon Galaxy Note II Gets Its First Official CyanogenMod 10.1 Nightly

When I was a kid, my grandfather used to always say "last to market, last to get official builds of CyanogenMod." Seems the old man's wisdom once again proves to be true, as official CM 10.1 nightlies just showed up for Verizon's variant of the Galaxy Note II.

Update: Looks like Sprint's version of the Note II just got CM10.1, too.

For those of you who own said Note II, this means you can finally get away from Samsung's Playskool-inspired Technicolor UI and experience Android in its natural form. Well, maybe not entirely natural, but you and I both know the enhancements added by the CM team are useful, lightweight, and simply make the Android experience better.

[Deal Alert] Verizon's Galaxy Note II Is Now Just $199 For Upgrades And New Subscribers On Amazon And Wirefly

Verizon, out of all four of America's major carriers, is notorious for keeping the subsidized price points of its devices high long after release. Even 3rd party retailers seem affected by this trend, and, as such, we've not seen Verizon's Note II dip into real "deal" territory since its debut late last year.

In all likelihood, that's simply because of demand. Verizon's coverage and network sell handsets, and Big Red remains (if only marginally) the largest mobile network in the US. Because of its ongoing DROID marketing campaign, it seems pretty likely Verizon sells more Android-powered handsets than any other carrier, too.

Verizon Pushing A Small Security Patch To The Galaxy Note II, Likely Fixes The 'Exynos Bug'

Note II owners on Big Red, an OTA update is coming your way. Don't get too excited, though – it's just a small security patch that fixes the dreaded Exynos bug. Thus, if it's anything like the Exynos patch for the Galaxy S III, you can also expect a new bootloader. That usually means bad news for the root community (especially when it's a Verizon phone we're talking about), and it's likely no different in this case.

However, it's probably safe to say that the Exynos vulnerability is far more troubling to many users than losing root access, so you may want to go ahead and pull this one as soon as it's available.

[Update: Most GSM LTE Models] Galaxy Note II (t0lte) Gets Official CM 10.1 Nightlies

Tired of living in TouchWiz's Crayola nightmare on your AT&T LTE GSM Galaxy Note II? CyanogenMod to the rescue yet again - official nightly builds have landed, based on CyanogenMod 10.1. This build will work with the AT&T and T-Mobile Galaxy Note II's in the US, and international versions of the Galaxy Note 2 LTE that are compatible with GSM carriers. Specifically, models GT-N7105, SGH-I317, and SGH-T889. This build will not work with the international Note II 3G (GT-N7100). Support for CDMA versions is still being worked on (sorry, Verizon and Sprint Note II owners).

You can find detailed flashing instructions in this XDA thread, and known issues with the current build here (Bluetooth audio, for example, doesn't work).

T-Mobile's Galaxy Note II Getting A Bug-Fix OTA, Patches The 'Exynos Exploit'

If you have a stock Note II on T-Mobile, it's time to hit the "check updates" button, because a fix for that nasty Exynos bug is on its way. If you're not familiar with said bug, it basically allowed any app to root and gain full access to any Exynos 4-powered system. And that's a bad thing.

Fortunately, Samsung recognized the issue and started working on a patch almost immediately. It has already rolled out to the Galaxy S III in the UK, and now it's coming to the Note II on T-Mo. Hopefully other carriers will follow suit shortly.

US Cellular Updates Galaxy Note II To R950VXALL1, Adds Multi-Window [Full Changelog]

US Cellular is issuing an update to their variant of Samsung's Galaxy Note II, bringing the baseband version up to R950VXALL1. The headline feature with this update, as may be expected, is multi-window support. That's not all the R950VXALL1 package brings, though.

The update, besides evidently bringing the device up to Android "4.1.4" Jelly Bean (did you mean to say "4.1.2" there, USC?), brings an armload of bug fixes, from a "Burst Mode" camera fix to occasional toggling between 3G and 1X, to minor UI changes including the replacement of the notification shade's "sync" button with a multi-window shortcut and a makeover for the phone's Sound icon, switching from gray to green.

AT&T Re-Gifts Multi-Window Support, Gives It To Samsung Galaxy Note II Owners

Owners of the AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II have been patiently waiting for multi-window support on their enormous smartphones ever since launch, and just in time for an awkward after-Christmas present, the carrier has delivered. Today's over-the-air update brings software version JZO54K.I317UCALK7, Android 4.1.2, with the crucial addition of that useful desktop-style trick. T-Mobile Note II owners got the same treatment last week.

If you're unfamiliar with Multi-Window, the new version that the Note II uses allows users to split the screen into two sections with fully-functional apps, which are no longer limited to TouchWiz (as on the the Note 10.1 tablet).
