Soon after HP started their TouchPad fire sale, a version of the device running Android 2.2 appeared on eBay and went on to sell for almost $700. Hopes for an Android port were high and the developer community swung into action offering a $2300 bounty for anyone who could load Android on the TouchPad. The CyanogenMod team, Android developers extraordinaire, did not disappoint and soon the news broke that they had managed to successfully get Android running on the TouchPad.

LG-Doubleplay

Who's in the market for a whack looking phone with some sort of flip-out hybrid keyboard-screen? You are? Then the LG Doubleplay is singing your song. Check this... thing... out:

LG-Doubleplay

Don't worry. I gagged, too.

The Doubleplay will most likely be a low-end phone, judging by the reported 320x480 display and weak 5MP camera. That doesn't keep it from being unique though, with a secondary LCD that will probably serve very little practical purpose embedded right in the middle of the keyboard.

If you've been considering making the jump over to T-Mo and aren't interested in the power-packed Amaze 4G, then there's a good chance you've been eyeing the Sensation 4G. If this scenario sounds familiar, then Best Buy's website is the place to be, as you can get the Sensation 4G for nary a dime.

The Sensation is packing some pretty powerful innards under its hood:

  • 4.3-inch qHD Super-LCD
  • 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core processor
  • 768MB RAM
  • 8MP rear shooter, VGA ffc
  • 1GB built-in storage, microSD card slot
  • Android 2.3.4 with Sense 3.0

Now that we've taken a look at the hardware, check out some of the things that Best Buy highlighted:

Not one hundred dollars, not ten dollars, not one dollar, one cent. That's right, the LTE-packing Droid Bionic can be yours for a penny from Amazon Wireless if you're a switcher. Current Verizon customers have to pay the full $220. The usual hooks apply, it's a penny only on a 2 year contract.

Amazon is even throwing in free shipping. What more do you want? If you are still on the fence, check out our review of the Bionic here.

At this point, it's pretty clear that we've all been knee deep in Ice Cream Sandwich goodies all week long. We've already given you the Music 4.0.1, Google+ 2.0, and ICS Clock widget APKs, but that's not all - now we have some details regarding the CDMA Verizon Nexus Prime. At least that's what we thought it was called before Google and Samsung decided on the Galaxy Nexus as the final name, according to our reliable source who goes by Geek Vundotra (remember the leaked apps above?).

Since Google and Samsung called off their event (which was set to announce Ice Cream Sandwich and the next Nexus device), the rumor mill has been going at full tilt. Today, however, a more positive rumor has spun out: Engadget reports that "an inside source" has indicated October 19th as the new date for the Unpacked event.

The source also tells Engadget that the event will be held in Hong Kong, and is timed to line up with AsiaD: All Things Digital, taking place next week.

Hey GTV fans: Fantastic news! The final version of the Google TV SDK went live today - Google TV is still alive! This is a follow up to the preview build released in August.

Apparently, the differences between this and the preview version are pretty minor: by popular demand, the Action Bar now renders horizontally (like tablets), and there are additional on-screen quick access keys, like picture-in-picture, fast forward, and channel buttons.

A couple of new images of both the internally-named Motorola Spyder, rumored to be the device Moto and Big Red have planned to announce as the Droid RAZR on October 18th, as well as the 8.2-inch variant of the XOOM 2 have surfaced. While we've already seen rough prototype shots of both XOOM 2 variants once before, this new leak shows a much more polished look on the little brother, suggesting that it's near completion and most of the kinks have been worked out.

Finally it's T-Mobile's turn to take a swing at the Samsung Galaxy S II, almost six months after the rest of the world. No adjective soup for this variant; its official name is, plainly, the "T-Mobile Galaxy S II." Formerly known as the "Hercules," this is the misfit in the GSII family. In its heart pumps a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, instead of the normal Samsung Exynos. So it's not just a carbon copy of all those other GSIIs.

What do you do if you're a known patent troll and a major company announces a new device that is sure to sell millions of units? Try to sue the heck out of them, of course. That's exactly what's going on with Amazon's upcoming Kindle Fire, the still-unreleased tablet from the online retail giant.

The story goes a little something like this: Amazon announces the Fire for an ultra-affordable price. Everyone is happy and wants this new device, so pre-orders are through the roof.
