We knew that Stagefright fixes were due to start rolling out this week, and it's Sprint leading the pack. Sprint already rolled out an update to the Note 4 earlier this week, but now you can add several more Samsung devices to the list, plus the carrier has confirmed LMY48I for Nexus devices will have the Stagefright fixes included.

LG Announces The Wine Smart, An Android 5.1-Powered Flip Phone With A 3.2-Inch Touchscreen And Pretty Low Specs

Smartphone manufacturers are always looking for ways to differentiate their products from the competition, but this largely consists of UI skins and different build materials. Occasionally someone will stick on decent sound speakers or introduce a way to wake up a phone without using buttons, but much of the experimentation hardly stands out as something that makes one phone stand out against another to someone who doesn't follow phones as their passion.

Eventually someone says screw it—we're gonna kick it old school, and announces an Android-powered flip phone. Samsung has done it a time or two before, and now LG is taking a swing with the Wine Smart, a flip phone that runs Android 5.1.1.

European HTC One M9 Getting First Android 5.1 Update, Promise Of Shorter Charge Times

While European owners of HTC's One M9 got its most critical update bringing camera and battery life fixes in June, they've been waiting for the jump from Android 5.0 to 5.1 as unlocked and American carrier versions (except Verizon) have received it. The wait appears to be over, though, as users have begun reporting a fairly large OTA that promises a version increase to 5.1 along with quicker charging times.

https://twitter.com/Rage06/status/628498218503020544

The ROM version for the update is 2.10.401.1 and the download is a mighty 831.88 MB, so make sure to be connected to Wi-Fi before pulling the trigger. There are certainly a variety of other refinements beyond those mentioned in the OTA notification, not to mention important security fixes.

[Hugely Tacky Conduct] HTC Pushed A Fantastic Four Notification Ad To The One M8 And M9

HTC has been experimenting with alternative revenue streams lately, and it was already walking a fine line. Ads started showing up in BlinkFeed a few weeks ago, but users could disable them. Now a large number of One M8 and M9 users have been served an ad in the notification shade. It was promoting a Fantastic Four movie theme, and people are not happy at all.

[Deal Alert] Get The Unlocked 32GB Samsung Galaxy S6 For $479.99 On Ebay

It hasn't been two weeks since we shared with you an eBay deal for the unlocked 32GB Samsung Galaxy S6, but the price has gone even lower now. Forget about the $499.99 tag, it's now $479.99 — the cheapest we have ever seen the S6 at.

This sale gets you the G920i version of the S6, which is the international variant. But it is factory unlocked and supports the 3G/LTE bands for AT&T's network. It will work on T-Mobile's LTE too, but it will be limited to the carrier's 1900MHz re-farmed HSPA+ areas.

The deal is valid for the black, white, and gold versions of the S6, and shipping is provided to the USA for free (with tax only in Missouri), and a swath of other countries for a fee.

Alleged Photo Of The Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact Shows Fingerprint Reader-Equipped Side Power Buttons

When you're looking for phone leaks, Twitter isn't a bad place to start. @ViziLeaks has shared photos of what are supposedly the upcoming Xperia Z (TBC but probably 5) and the corresponding compact version. You can see them flanking an iPhone, with the compact model on the left.

In responses to tweets, @ViziLeaks details what we're seeing and not seeing in this image. There's a side power button on the side of the Xperia Z5. This apparently doubles as a fingerprint sensor, which you can see by looking at the software on both devices.

Motorola's Latest Commercial For The New Moto G Is Actually Pretty Hilarious

As we know, most smartphone commercials are, at best, OK. Many are less than OK, and some are just downright awful (see also: HTC-RDJ). Apple manages to score a hit every once in a while, but even their ads can come off as corny and contrived (or just boastful) sometimes.

Perhaps the greatest unicorn of all in smartphone advertising is a legitimately chuckle-worthy commercial. They're rare beasts, and even if that chuckle is from a completely WTF place (see: G Flex, ad sadly taken down), a laugh is a positive reaction. Usually. Anyway, Motorola made this new commercial for the Moto G and we all thought it was pretty funny.
