The Man Who Stole 22,500 LG G2 Smartphones Was Caught After Driving Into A Pole

Last week we reported that a truck transporting 22,500 LG G2 smartphones headed for Sprint was stolen at a truck stop in Gary, Indiana. WDRB reports that at least one man who committed this daring high-stakes robbery has been caught in Louisville, Kentucky along with the 18-wheeler he stole. How was this fiendishly clever criminal apprehended?

He drove the truck into a telephone pole.

No, seriously. Mr. Juan Perez-Gonzalez was arrested by the Kentucky State Police near the scene of the accident, where the truck apparently containing most or all of the LG phones was still sitting.

Remember Phonebloks and how we all had a good laugh about how unworkable and idealistic it was? It turns out Motorola has been working on a similar project for the last year, and it's called Project Ara. This is really happening.

Update 10/28/13 10:30pm PT: The update is rolling out now (thanks, bdh and ohbuckeyeman!):

update 4.3update

Samsung has added details about the upcoming I545VRUEMJ7 software update that will, among other things, make the device compatible with the Galaxy Gear. That means anyone who ran out and purchased the watch before discovering that it was only compatible with the Note 3 can now breathe a bit easier (I'm sure at least one person did that, right?).

CyanogenMod 10.2 Nightlies Now Rolling Out For The Sony Xperia Z Ultra

When it comes to hardware aesthetics, Sony has some of the best industrial design around. The 6.4-inch Xperia Z Ultra is undeniably attractive in its glass and metal casing. The software isn't so appealing, and not just because it's Android 4.2 - Sony's custom interface leaves a lot to be desired. If you'd like to run something closer to AOSP, not to mention a latter version of Android, the indefatigable CyanogenMod team is now offering nightly builds of CM 10.2.

KitKat.com/Android Is Indeed Down, Password-Protected, And Waiting To Be Revealed, But It Doesn't Bring KitKat's Launch Any Closer

Earlier today, the Nexus and KitKat crowds almost had collective heart attacks when they saw that kitkat.com/android was now password-protected and likely hiding something behind the locked gates. Possibly even all the complete KitKat details we've been dying to see (or whatever is left of them anyway). Could it be? Did the site go down for the big update, and the launch is imminent? Not so fast.

While the page does indeed pop up a login dialog, the revelation doesn't really mean anything just yet.

There aren't exactly many Google Glass explorers out there, since Google has not put the $1,500 product on sale anywhere, but your chances of spotting a wearer in the wild is about to shoot up. The Glass team announced on Google+ today that over the next few weeks, all explorers will get to invite up to three friends to join the Glass Explorers program. They will still have to buy the glasses, mind you, but this means the device will soon be more accessible than it has ever been.
