HTC-J-Butterfly-HTL21-3V-black

Remember that HTC phone with the massive, 5" 1080p display that we've been hearing rumors about? Well, it's here! Where "here" means Japan. The Taiwanese manufacturer has just announced the HTC J Butterfly, the follow up to the previous HTC J model. This phone is packing a positively drool-worthy 1080p SLCD 3 display (you read that right) in a 5" slate. In case you were wondering, that is a retina-destroying 440ppi.

Earlier this evening, CyanogenMod's Google+ page published an announcement that read "Who says Everest is in Nepal?". That's right – the Motorola Xoom 3G (GSM) variant has joined the list of CM-supported devices, getting its first experimental build dated 10-17.

Steady Hawkin, in a comment to the announcement, notes that the experimental build is "still a WIP," and encourages users to report any issues they may encounter.

If you're a Xoom GSM owner looking for some CM10 action, just keep an eye on the CyanogenMod download center's Everest page (linked below) for the latest builds.

If you were thinking about picking up one of Motorola's newest Android handset, maybe this will push you over the edge. Android tinkerer Dan Rosenberg has published a root exploit that should work on almost all of Motorola's recent devices including the RAZR M, Atrix HD, Photon Q, RAZR i, and the upcoming RAZR HD.

The exploit is exceptionally easy to run. All you have to do is get your device plugged in with USB debugging on.

Did you think that the Galaxy S III was the only one getting all of Samsung's Jelly Bean attention? Not so! As it turns out, the company is also working on Android 4.1 for older phones, including but not limited to the...*deep breath*...Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch. A build has leaked out over on XDA of 4.1.1 in all its TouchWiz-ified glory that's ready for the flashing looking at, if you're feeling adventurous bored.

The G'zOne Command is slated to receive a small maintenance update fairly soon, according to the Verizon Support site. C771M130 is definitely not breaking any major ground, promising that the PIN unlock keyboard now displays correctly, improved keyboard accuracy, and a more sensitive proximity sensor.

As always, updated support documents don't indicate that an OTA is actively rolling out, necessarily, but that it's at least close to being released. So, tap away at that "check for updates" button over the coming weeks.

Add another chapter to the Nexus 7 32GB saga. We've seen it once, twice, three times - and now it has showed up on Staples Advantage (their site for business users) with an estimated availability date of October 18th. That's probably just some sort of placeholder, though - it's highly unlikely that we'll see it show up in just two days' time.

The price shows as a few dollars less than the 16GB version, which lines up with previous rumors that the 32 may actually replace the 16 - a questionable move on Google's part, no doubt.

ASUS just unveiled the second generation Padfone, which seems to be an improvement over its predecessor in every way imaginable. The phone has a better processor, more RAM, a larger, high-resolution display, and a much better camera. The Tablet Station is somewhat similar to last year's model, but even the way the phone is docked into it is more intuitive than ever. In fact, that's exactly what ASUS was going for with every aspect of the Padfone 2: intuition.

For the first time, Samsung's largest flagship line will be landing on Sprint with the Galaxy Note II. During the initial launch, though, you better know you want it as this device will come with a whopping $300 price tag with a new two year contract. This isn't unheard of for some major devices, but it still ranks as one of the most expensive handsets you can buy.

The Note II will be launching with Android 4.1.1, LTE, and the same Exynos processor as the international version.

At an event in Milan this morning, ASUS made official the PadFone 2 – the tablet/phone combo device that looks to improve on its predecessor while continuing the goal of providing "incredible mobile flexibility." ASUS touts a redesign of both the phone and tablet elements, the integration of which appears to be much more elegant than the original, with the phone sliding vertically into the back of the tablet, ditching the clumsy door of the original PadFone for a sleek dock.

If you're not impressed by the leak-happy LG Nexus, and don't buy into the somewhat fuzzy rumors that we'll see multiple Nexus phones this year but you're still seeking a pure Google experience in a gorgeous, powerful frame, Daily Steals has just what you're looking for.

The popular 24-hour sale site is offering the Samsung Galaxy Nexus 16GB, unlocked for GSM networks, for just $319.99. For reference, that's about $30 cheaper than Google's current price, and with a mere $5 shipping charge, it's a fantastic deal.
