We've been waiting for what seems like an eternity for solid information about Nexus 6 carrier availability, and AT&T just announced that it will offer pre-orders beginning tomorrow, November 12th.

The pricing breakdown is pretty much what we expected to see:

  • $0 down with AT&T Next: $22.77 per month with AT&T Next 24, $28.46 per month with AT&T Next 18 or $34.15 per month with AT&T Next 12.
  • $249.99 with a two-year agreement
  • $682.99 with no annual commitment

...though I can't possibly fathom why someone would walk into AT&T and pay $682.99 for the device off-contract when it is (kind of) available in the Play Store for $650.

Google's pre-order sales of the Nexus 6 on the US Play Store have been, to put it delicately, crap. By my estimate all four storage and color variants of the phone have been available for ordering for a grand total of about twenty minutes over the last two weeks, and Motorola hasn't fared much better selling them on its own site. If you're waiting for the retail release of the Nexus 6...

Motorola started selling a few new color and band versions of the Moto 360 smartwatch this week, with more to come. At the same time a company representative promised new watch faces for existing users via a forthcoming update to the Motorola Connect app. That update seems to be here: version 2.02.21. In addition to faces added from the Motorola design competition back in June, the new app allows you to pick and choose colors and design elements for the default Motorola faces.

Motorola's been planning a soak test for select users of the Moto X 2014 Pure Edition for a little while now, and it looks like it's officially beginning. Earlier this evening, a tipster shared a shot of the update prompt with us, confirming that the test is bringing Android 5.0 Lollipop to the handset, earlier than Google's own OTAs for existing Nexus devices (besides the new Nexus 9 and unreleased Nexus 6).

Motorola took the premium materials one step further this year with the option to buy a Moto X clad in premium Horween leather, then someone at Verizon thought it would be cool to slap some football leather on it. The result, as you can see below is kind of ugly. Maybe it looks nicer in real life?

Nexus 6 pre-orders have been a bit of a mess here in the U.S., with the majority of users still not able to throw their money at Google in exchange for this massive and elusive device. With everything running so, uh, smoothly (?), it's only logical that Google releases it to a dozen or so other Play Stores, right? Right.

OK, maybe I'm being a little overly-cynical here. It's not actually available anywhere else yet.

Last week Amazon briefly showed off a few new options for the Moto 360, including the metal bands that the company has been teasing ever since the original announcement. Those disappeared from Amazon almost instantly, but now Motorola seems ready to sell at least some of them. After a quick announcement on the company blog, some of the new options are being sold now.

At the $249.99, you can still get the stainless steel or black watches with 22mm bands in "stone" or black, respectively.

It's common for Google to drop a few accessories in the Play Store each time a new Nexus comes out, but they often don't ship until at least a few weeks after the device itself. Maybe by the time you get your hands on a Nexus 6 the newly listed cases (by Case Mate) will be shipping. The folio and clear case for Motorola's first Nexus are in the Play Store, but you can't order yet.

If you're as fed up with the Google Play Store's fumbling of the Nexus 6 launch as everyone else, you now have at least one alternative. Motorola has begun selling pre-orders on its website, at least to the United States. You can order the 32GB model and 64GB model at $649.99 and $699.99, respectively, in both white and blue. According to the site, "availability" of the pre-order is determined when you check out, so just seeing it on the site doesn't mean you'll be able to secure a pre-order.

Update: It does appear Google is still doing very small periodic restocks. Keep trying - I just managed to get a white 32GB to the payment confirmation.

It's OK, everyone - some people did get orders in.
