[Update: It's Official] The Original Moto X On Verizon Is Finally Getting Android 5.1 Via A Soak Test

While many of us have been living the Lollipop life and looking forward to Marshmallow, life hasn't been so grand for owners of the first generation Moto X on Verizon. They've been languishing on Android 4.4.4 all this time, but it looks like that's finally changing. A soak test for Android 5.1 is starting to roll out, and that could soon mean a general release of Lollipop for this once proud device.

Moto Body Makes Its Way To The Play Store, Provides More Detailed Fitness Stats From Your Moto 360 On Your Phone

Moto 360 owners have been enjoying a Moto Body application on their watch since the Motorola Connect update in November 2014. The app, however, was limited to the confines of the small screen on their wrist, providing daily steps, calories, and activity data, but with no weekly or monthly stats. That changes today with the dedicated Moto Body application that has hit the Play Store.

The app isn't a Motorola exclusive — it is compatible with various brands of Android devices, as long as the phone runs Android 4.3 and up. But it will only install the Wear component on a Moto 360, so you won't be able to use it on other smartwatches.

Huawei Mate 2 And Moto E 2015 CyanogenMod Nightly Builds Are Now Available For Download

The CyanogenMod team continues to develop builds for new phones, and today we get support for two budget-oriented options that are popular with the unlocked crowd. The Moto E 2015, a phone with a relatively small screen and a tiny price, and the Huawei Mate 2, a phone with a relatively enormous screen and a price that's still pretty small, both have CyanogenMod 12.1 (Android 5.1) ROMs waiting for them on the official download site.

The Mate 2 is under the "mt2" codename, currently with three nightly builds available, and the Moto E 2015 is (for no obvious reason) labeled "otus" with two builds available at the time of writing.

Amazon Has The Moto X Pure Edition Up For Pre-Order If You Don't Want To Customize It

Earlier today, Motorola opened pre-orders for the 2015 Pure Edition Moto X. If you don't really care about Moto Maker or customization at all, then Amazon is the way to go - if you're a Prime member you'll get yours just a couple of days after release. It's slated to be released on the 9th of this month, so you'll most likely be one of the first to get your hands on Moto's newest flagship.

It's available in both 16GB and 32GB variants, with three color schemes for each: black, white, and white with a bamboo back. The plain color models (black and white) are both $399 for 16GB and $449 for 32GB, with the bamboo model coming it at $25 more.

Motorola Makes The Second-Gen Moto 360 Official: Small And Large Sizes, Women's Version, Sport Model With GPS, And The Familiar Flat Tire Screen

Motorola hasn't done a particularly good job of keeping its new Android Wear devices a secret, but today they've made them official. There are now four models to choose from: what you might call the "classic" version, 46mm wide, a new 42mm smaller version that comes in men's and women's variants, and the "sport" model with a silicone band and built-in GPS. All of them ditch Motorola's questionable choice of a Texas Instruments chipset in favor of the Snapdragon 400, which has become the de facto standard for Android Wear watches.

Aside from the new size and the sport model, the changes are few, at least on the outside.

@evleaks Shares Renders Of Revamped Moto 360 With Metal And Leather Bands

I would say you should feel excited, but we've actually seen the upcoming Moto 360 reboot a few times already. In yet another confirmation that Motorola is on the verge of announcing at least one and probably two new models of the Moto 360, our industry's most famous tipster, @evleaks, briefly came out of retirement to share the above image with the world.

In context, there is no useful additional information offered.

Our highly scientific analysis in Android Police's group chat has revealed that these two renders appear to be the same size in terms of watch face, so are not both the rumored 360S and 360L; just one of the two in different style combinations.
