CyanogenMod Publishes Unified Nightly ROM For The US GSM, International, Verizon, Sprint, And US Cellular Editions Of The Moto X (2013)

CyanogenMod's custom ROM relationship with the original Moto X has been somewhat... tentative. First the general GSM and Verizon developer editions were given separate nightly builds, then came a unified ROM based on Motorola's Qualcomm S4-based phones, the Moto X and DROID Maxx. (Technically the DROID Mini and DROID Ultra, too, but there's no way to unlock the bootloaders on those.) Now all of the Moto X builds are being unified under a new download entry, codenamed "Ghost."

According to a CyanogenMod representative, the nightly ROMs under the "Ghost" codename should work with all of the available unlocked versions of the Moto X.

Verizon Updates The DROID RAZR HD, DROID RAZR MAXX HD, And DROID RAZR M With Minor Security And Messaging Improvements

As a personal user of the DROID RAZR M, I've got to say that Motorola's 2012 line of branded DROIDs have held up remarkably well. That's due in no small part to frequent and relatively speedy updates. The latest one doesn't come with a new version of Android (they're running 4.4.2 at the moment), but it does have a few security enhancements and improvements to the default messaging app.

razr update

Users of the DROID RAZR HD, the DROID RAZR MAXX HD (which has nearly identical software), and the smaller DROID RAZR M should be seeing the updates presently.

iFixit's Teardown Of The Moto 360 Shows Packed Internals And A 20mAh Battery Discrepancy [Updated]

Update: Motorola responded to Ars Technica's post on the same iFixit story to explain the battery discrepancy. According to the statement, 300mAh is a "minumum rating" for the battery manufactured by Pro-Power, while 320mAh is a more typical rating. (Batteries are much less precise in terms of capacity than, say, a RAM DIMM.) The mix-up reportedly stems from the fact that they simply didn't have room for both a minimum and maximum rating on the tiny label, and erred on the side of caution - after all, end users aren't really supposed to see it.

Original Moto X Developer Editions (GSM And Verizon) Receive A $50 Price Cut

We all know the new Moto X is going to drop soon, and it's shaping up to be a fantastic phone. However, Motorola still has some last gen devices sitting around. What better way to get rid of them than to cut the price... a small price cut in this case. The Developer Edition Moto Xs for Verizon and GSM networks is now $399 instead of $449.

Verizon Has The Moto 360 With Metal Band Up For Pre-Order, Estimated Delivery Date November 11th

We knew Motorola was planning to sell the Moto 360 with a metal band later this fall, but Verizon already has a pre-order page up. That's the good news. The not so good news is that it won't ship until November 11th, according to the site. Ouch.

Motorola's Punit Soni: There Will Be No Second Generation Moto X Developer Edition For Verizon

Root addicts and ROM flashers on Verizon, prepare to lose it. According to a short question and answer session with Motorola Mobility's VP of Product Management Punit Soni, there will be no Developer Edition of the swanky second-gen Moto X for Verizon. Google+ user Shane Barone asked Mr. Soni about the availability of a developer edition and got this apologetic reply:

soni

Developer Editions are special carrier editions of phones sold without a contract and with an unlockable bootloader, made available for customers on carriers that permanently lock bootloaders as a matter of course.

Motorola Migrate Now Enables Bluetooth Contact Transfers From 'Dumbphones' After Update

Motorola Migrate always seemed a little unnecessary to me - if you're coming from an Android phone, all your contacts should already be saved with Google, and I never saw the point of hoarding years of text messages. But Migrate has allowed for easy contact transfers from Apple's iPhone line, and with the latest update, it can even grab them from other 'dumbphones' as well. (Sorry, I let some inner fanboy out there.)

According to the update text, Motorola Migrate can now import contacts from "non-smartphones," as long as they have Bluetooth and follow the standard contact transfer system that's been in place since before Android existed.

[Weekend Poll] Did You Buy A Moto 360?

If you're in one of the eligible countries, you're probably well aware that the Moto 360 has begun shipping, so we want to know if you bought one.

The Moto 360 is easily the most anticipated Android Wear device to date, and possibly even the most awaited smartwatch. Its semi-circular display and very modern but still watch-like design have been huge factors here - I would definitely agree the 360 is still the best-looking smartwatch we've seen, even compared to concept hardware.
