We've known since launch that the Moto Maker customization tool for the Moto X wouldn't be an AT&T exclusive forever, and it looks like that period is just about to expire. Droid Life spotted this placeholder page on Verizon's web store, which indicates that more colorful, customized versions of Motorola's new flagship will be coming to Verizon soon.

Moto X Developer Edition (Verizon And GSM) Gets A $100 Price Drop To $549

The Moto X got a price drop on all American carriers late last month, bringing the on-contract price down to $100 for all American carriers (though you can find it cheaper at some retailers). It looks like Motorola is following suit with the unlockable developer versions of the phone, which are sold directly from the manufacturer and without subsidy. Previously the Developer Editions were $649.99, but you can now pick one up for $549.99.

The discount has been applied to both the GSM-LTE model (basically an unbranded AT&T phone - the T-Mobile model doesn't need a developer edition) and the Verizon phone.

RockMyMoto Roots Moto X After Latest Camera Update, Should Work On All Recent Motorola Phones

Some Moto X owners weren't particularly happy to learn that a recent OTA with improvements to the camera also had the undesirable consequence of breaking root acquired through PwnMyMoto. Fortunately, the creator of PwnMyMoto, Justin Case, is back with an updated root method that works on the latest Moto X update and should be compatible with all recent Motorola firmwares.

Update: RockMyMoto is confirmed to also work on the latest firmwares for the Droid Maxx, Ultra, and Mini.

AT&T, T-Mobile, And Verizon Moto X All Get CyanogenMod 10.2 Experimental Nightly Builds

The Moto X already comes with a Nexus-like user experience, but for many users, that just isn't enough. The looks are great and all, but there are just some features that can only be found buried at the end of custom ROMs like treasure at the end of a rainbow that only power users can see. But CyanogenMod fans who happened to pick up a Moto X on AT&T, T-Mobile, or Verizon, hold up before downloading the recently released nightly builds, as these files are only intended for the unlocked or developer editions.

If you have one of those, fire up that torch and put on those safety glasses, because there's about to be a flash.

US Cellular Is Next Up For The Moto X OTA Update: Camera Enhancements, Better Touchless Control, And More

US Cellular, come on down: you're the next contestant on The Price Is Free. We've seen the first over-the-air update roll in for Moto X models on T-Mobile, Sprint, and AT&T, and now Motorola has posted details on a nearly identical upcoming update for US Cellular. That will probably makes Verizon the last major carrier to apply the Moto X update. Try not to act too shocked.

As you can see, the 139.12.57 follows the updates for other carriers point-for-point. It's still Android 4.2 - this is a maintenance update. The biggest change is to the camera, which gets improved low light performance and faster focus, plus faster switching between the cameras and the gallery.
