First Motorola Droid X Commercial Shows Up, Contains Lots Of Easter Eggs - Can You Find Them All?

In preparation for the Droid 2 and Droid X launch, Verizon has put out its first commercial, in the best Droid traditions, complete with the "Droid" sound at the end.

Did you even notice how much information this video just provided? Besides the flashing X symbol, pointing at the model being advertised, can you spot all the other easter eggs? Switch to full screen and up the video quality to 480p to see the details better.

For the impatient ones, the list comes after the break. But don't spoil the surprise - watch the video first.

Here are the easter eggs, courtesy of KerrickLong:

0:02 - Droid Landing
0:03 - 4.3" WVGA Screen
0:04 - Buddy or Friend icons
0:05 - Droid logo
0:06 - HDMI Output
0:07 - 8MP Camera

The "Droid Landing" part, as AndroidGuys found out, actually points to a twitter account @DroidLanding which, as you can imagine, will be the driving PR force behind these phones.

We’ve been hearing a number of things about the upcoming Droid X in the past few weeks, and Verizon have now updated their Droid site, giving us a few more details about their latest and greatest device.

The page confirms three things that we already suspected of the device. Firstly, it has a 4.3” display, most likely with a resolution of 854 x 480. Originally, when you hovered over the phone, you were told that it has a “720p screen”. This has now been changed to say “Captures 720p”, undoubtedly dashing the hopes of many people who saw the original post.

Mark Your Calendars: Motorola, Verizon, Google, And Adobe Set To "Unleash The Next Generation Of Droid" - Is Froyo Also Joining The Party?

In exactly a week, on June 23rd, the 4 giants of the Android world - Motorola, Verizon, Google, and Adobe are set to announce something really great, dubbed "the next generation of Droid" at a special invitation-only press event in New York.

We can only guess what the event will touch on - surely, Droid X and Droid 2 are at the top of the list.

However, noting the presence of Adobe, it makes us wonder whether something much-much bigger is coming, i.e. the announcement of Froyo release dates or at least a promise that the new Droid generation will be running Google's newest 2.2 OS.

This is certainly one of the worst kept mobile secrets in a while. It seems we can barely go more than a few days without more Droid X/Xtreme/Shadow or Droid 2 pictures leaking. In this case, it seems Mr. Blurrcam is on vacation and let his high resolution counterpart take a few more pictures of the Droid X.

There’s not a whole lot of new information at this point, but that’s to be expected considering the rate at which we’ve been seeing leaks. If you’ve somehow avoided catching any information on this phone over the last few weeks, here’s a recap of the rumored specs:

  • 4.3” TFT FWVGA screen
  • 720 MHz OMAP 3630 Processor
  • 8 GB of internal storage (possibly 16GB)
  • 8 MP Camera
  • 720p Video Recording
  • mini-HDMI out
  • Wifi 802.11 b/g/n
  • Bluetooth 2.1
  • MicroSD support up to 32GB
  • 9mm at the bottom of the device flaring to 11mm at the top
  • Android 2.1 (possibly 2.2)
  • Dual LED Flash

It seems like every other blog has different specs listed for the phone, so take those with a grain of salt, but this more or less seems to be Verizon’s answer to the EVO 4G, and to be honest, I like the looks of the Droid X much more.

It seems like almost every other day something new is leaked about the upcoming Droid Xtreme. This is fairly typical of any anticipated phone release so, while nothing new, it can get a bit confusing with so many sites reporting on every single leak regarding this phone. Here is a rundown of everything that is Motorola Shadow/Xtreme…

This phone was originally dubbed the Droid 2 before progressing into its second name, the Droid Shadow. It remained as the Shadow for a while, until leaks about its true name started to surface, and finally it has been all but officially confirmed as the Droid Xtreme.

Another week another leak – we’re visited once again by our old friend the Droid Shadow (AKA: Droid Xtreme/Droid X), this time with two new pictures and few tidbits about the phone’s software.

droidleak2

In case you’re out of the loop, the Droid Shadow is said to be Motorola’s latest addition to Verizon’s Droid brand, which we’ve covered here and here (note that I incorrectly referred to the Shadow as the Droid 2 – from what I’ve read since, this is not the case). This time, Droid Life was sent a few pics from a tipster that claimed to have a bit more information on the phone’s software:

  • Android 2.2
  • 9 home screens
  • No Motoblur
  • Dedicated camera button
  • “Very metal”
  • HDMI out

The ‘No Motoblur’ part is a bit strange, especially since Motoblur was pretty prominently shown on the ‘Getting Started’ manual.

Time for another game of ‘Shop job or Shadow: Gizmodo’s received a picture from someone claiming that they found the upcoming Motorola Shadow on the floor at a Verizon corporate gym.

According to the tipster they had enough time to confirm most of the rumored specs of the phone before it was remotely locked down, though suspiciously, they only had enough time to snap one picture.

Engadget notes that the angle of the picture is uncannily similar to that of the leaked ‘Getting Started’ manual that we’ve covered earlier.

The tipster ‘confirmed’ the following specs:

  • 8MP camera
  • 4.3” screen
  • 16GB of internal storage
  • Snapdragon CPU
  • HDMI port

Again, take the above information, or at least the new information (Snapdragon CPU/16 GB internal storage) with a grain of salt.
