[Deal Alert] Motorola DROID RAZR M Only $50 With A New Contract From Amazon Wireless

The DROID RAZR M just landed on Verizon yesterday for $99. A little while later, it dropped to $80 on Wirefly. Now, you can get both the white and black versions from Amazon Wireless for just $50 with a new two-year agreement (proof that you should never order anything directly from the carrier, especially on launch day). If you're already a Verizon customer, you can still get this solid mid-ranger for $70, which is $10 cheaper than anywhere else.

Motorola DROID RAZR M Review: This Is What Budget Phones Are Like Now? Where Do I Sign Up?

"The new Motorola starts today." That was new CEO Dennis Woodside's proclamation during the unveiling of the new RAZRs, and I think that statement gives away a little more than intended. Smartphone development takes the good part of a year, so they're implicitly admitting that these phones were made by someone else. That "someone else" being the old Motorola.

Yes, Google's deal to buy Motorola was announced a little over a year ago, but, thanks to all the regulatory bodies around the world that had to approve the deal, Google has only been in charge of Motorola for about three months.

[Deal Alert] Droid RAZR M Pops Up On Wirefly For $80 (20% Off) For New And Upgrading Customers

The RAZR M was certainly one of the more interesting phones Motorola announced last week, even if it did come with a disappointing definition of "edge-to-edge." Today, the phone launched on Verizon Wireless, but if you're already looking to score a discount, Wirefly has both the black and white versions available for $79.99 with a new two-year contract, or for upgrading customers.

Motorola Droid RAZR M Launches On Verizon Wireless Today, Get It For $99 With A Two-Year Agreement

Just one short week ago, Motorola took to the stage in New York City to talk about the DROID RAZR HD/MAXX and RAZR M. While we don't know much in terms of pricing and release information for the former, the latter just became available on Verizon's website and in all retail locations.

For those who may be unfamiliar with the RAZR M, it's the littlest brother of the RAZR line, packing similar specs to last year's cutting edge namesake in a much smaller form factor:

  • 4.3" 540x960  display with "almost no borders" and Gorilla Glass
  • 1.5GHz dual-core processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB storage, microSD card slot
  • 4G LTE connectivity
  • 8MP rear shooter
  • NFC
  • 60.9 x 122.5 x 8.3; 126g
  • 2000mAbh battery
  • Android 4.0.x

The RAZR M marks a new high for "budget" devices, as the device only costs $99 with a two-year agreement.

Motorola Allegedly Confirms RAZR M Will Pack Intel Atom Processor In The UK

Speaking to Pocket-Lint at today's unveiling of the RAZR M and RAZR HD, Motorola has reportedly confirmed that the RAZR M will be announced in the UK with an Intel chip, ousting the Qualcomm S4 found in the US Verizon version. Pocket-lint says the device will also get a "name change," but that just may be referring to the dropping of the DROID branding.

What we've seen of Intel phones so far hasn't been too impressive, so let's hope Motorola has managed to tame the Medfield-based Atom processor into something you'd actually want inside your smartphone.

Motorola unveiled a trio of new handsets today: the Droid RAZR HD, RAZR MAXX HD, and RAZR M (too much caps lock, Motorola!). While the first two focus on large 4.7" HD displays, the latter is all about packing as much display possible into a small shell.

Motorola RAZR M 4G LTE Pics And Specs Leaked Ahead Of Announcement

Aside from some FCC filings, the Motorola XT907 has been a unknown quantity as we get closer to Moto's September 5th Verizon event. Now the details are in the open, and it's looking like the device will be called the RAZR M 4G LTE (yeah, that's a mouthful). This phone will be a small but welcome bump up from the current generation RAZR devices, but it's no RAZR HD.
