Dan Rosenberg Releases Bootloader Unlock Tool For Motorola DROID RAZR HD / MAXX HD, RAZR M, And Atrix HD

If you own a RAZR HD, RAZR MAXX HD, RAZR M, or Atrix HD, and you've been waiting for the day when sweet bootloader-unlocking goodness arrives, wait no more: Dan Rosenberg has come to the rescue yet again.

Dan just published a tool that will allow you to unlock any of the above-mentioned Moto devices, assuming you have root access on your phone. Just have a working superuser app on your device, download the tool, connect to your PC with USB debugging enabled, and run the included script. From there, follow the instructions.

There are a few catches. First, you must be rooted - some 4.1.2 builds for the supported devices do not yet have a working root method.

Android 4.1 Now Rolling Out To The Motorola Atrix HD On AT&T

As of late, it's been apparent that Motorola has been trying to make good on its promises of offering more timely updates. The RAZR M was the first to get its bump to Jelly Bean, and was followed by the RAZR/MAXX HD. Now, it's the Atrix HD's turn.

Beginning today, AT&T and Motorola are pushing the Android 4.1 OTA to the device, which brings a handful of improvements over ICS, including Google Now, Project Butter for speed improvements, and enhanced notifications. Of course, Motorola has thrown some tweaks of its own into the mix, as well - like Drive Smart, Quick Settings, and more.

Motorola Announces ATRIX HD Developer Edition With Unlockable Bootloader

Welcome to the newer, friendlier Motorola, where every would-be Android modder is catered to. After creating developer editions of both the new Droid RAZR M and Droid RAZR HD for Verizon (the first from the manufacturer-carrier combo since the XOOM) Google's new acquisition is spreading the love to AT&T. The company announced the ATRIX HD Developer Edition, complete with unlockable bootloader, via its Twitter account today. There's currently no price or date available, beyond the fact that it will be available soon.

If Moto follows its pattern with the Verizon phones, the ability to unlock the bootloader will not be made available to customers who bought their phones from the carrier, on-contract or otherwise.

Software Update Build 77.12.22 Rolling Out To The Motorola Atrix HD, Brings Bug Fixes Galore

Atrix HD owners, it's time to hit the "check update" button - a new software update (build 77.12.22) is currently rolling out to your device. The OTA brings quite a few bug fixes and the like:

Wi-Fi

  • Improvements in WI-FI to allow for stronger connections in more places.

Battery

  • Optimized Battery performance and metering for longer battery life

Camera

  • The camera changes include improvements for low light performance, reduced blurriness, and better color accuracy.
  • Bar code scanning applications like AT&T code scanner will have a higher rate of accuracy on 1st scan.

Games/Apps

  • Optimized EA/Gameloft games performance.
  • With Spotify Market Application, when skipping to the next song, the player will no longer pause.

[Update: Amazon, Too] Deal Alert: AT&T Motorola Atrix HD On Sale, Already Half Off ($49.99) At Best Buy

Update: If you have some sort of unholy vendetta against Best Buy and refuse to order anything from there, you'll be glad to know that Amazon now has the same deal. Both white and black versions of the Atrix HD are now $50 for new and existing customers.

Well, would you look at that. The new Motorola Atrix HD "4G" officially went on sale just today, and Best Buy has already chopped off fully half of its reasonable asking price. You can pick up the 4.5-inch, 1.5Ghz dual-core ICS phone for just $49.99 online. The sober black ("titanium") version is in stock, but the white version going for the same price is not.

Motorola: Atrix HD Will Have A Locked (Signed) Bootloader, "Our Goal Is To Provide A Way To Unlock … To Those Who Wish To Do So"

Those wondering whether Motorola's recently-announced Atrix HD will carry a locked bootloader can exhale – in a string of tweets earlier this evening, Moto confirmed that, yes, the Atrix HD's bootloader will be locked and signed.

That being said, Moto indicated that their "goal" is to provide a way to "unlock the bootloaders on our devices to those who wish to do so," adding that more details are "to come."

What this means for the end user is that (for now) customization of the Atrix HD will be severely limited.

Motorola And AT&T Officially Announce The Atrix HD, Available Beginning July 15th For $99 On Contract

While this phone doesn't have many secrets left to reveal, Motorola and AT&T just took what wraps were left off of the Atrix HD. Like recently leaked, the Atrix HD has some pretty modern specs:

  • 4.5" ColorBoost display with Gorilla Glass
  • 1.5GHz dual-core processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8MP rear shooter, 2MP front camera
  • Android 4.0

Like the RAZR and RAZR MAXX, the Atrix HD also comes equipped with a Kevlar backing and "splash guard coating," so you should be able to use it to protect yourself from gunfire and take it swimming (Disclaimer: not really.) Motorola has also thrown its Smartactions app into the device, which is basically a Tasker-like solution, albeit not as powerful.

Motorola 'Dinara' Now A Reality – Moto Reveals The ICS-Powered ATRIX HD For AT&T

Remember last month when we finally saw a press shot of the fabled Motorola Dinara? Well, it looks like the device has come to reality as the ATRIX HD. Discovered earlier this evening, an official Motorola landing page gives us all the juicy details on the device, many of which we saw coming from the first rumors.

Maintaining Moto's recent design language, the device sports a carbon-fiber backing and a slight chin up top where the camera lives. One of the most beautiful things about the device so far is the fact that it will evidently run a lightly seasoned version of Ice Cream Sandwich, sporting on-screen navigation buttons.
