LG's Curved G Flex Smartphone Appears In More Detailed Photos And A Hands-On Video [Poll]

We've all long known that curved smartphones were coming, it was just a matter of when. Yet once Samsung unveiled the Samsung Galaxy Round, the hot dog shaped device still managed to catch us off guard. Quite frankly, the handset from Samsung's South Korean competitor, the LG G Flex, which is curved from top-to-bottom (rather than left-to-right) looks more like what we had in mind when we thought of curved screens.

Possible Nexus 5 Retail Packaging Leaked, New White Variant Revealed

This is the point in Google's product cycle where the leaks start falling like rain. Earlier today a Korean site named UnderKG (in case you couldn't tell through the obnoxious watermarks and bloom) posted photos of what appears to be the retail packaging of the LG Nexus 5. The boxes depart a little from the design of the previous Nexus devices, but still follow the basic pattern.

What's more interesting is that the device itself seems to be a white variant that we haven't seen before.

LG G Pad 8.3 Is Now Available In The U.S. For $349, Offered In Both Black And White

Remember the LG Optimus Pad? It came out back in 2011, a time when seeing Android running on a tablet was relatively new. I bring it up now because that was the last time LG released a tablet in the US. Today the company has announced the immediate availability of its successor, the LG G Pad 8.3, a slightly smaller tablet that will retail for a lower price of $349.99.

Press Renders Of LG G Flex Leak Showing 6-Inch Curved Display

Samsung made its rumored curved display smartphone official last week – it curves sideways and it's called the Galaxy Round. However, Samsung's South Korean smartphone competitor LG is supposed to be prepping a curved phone as well. Some newly leaked press renders show what is apparently the LG G Flex in all its shapely glory. As expected, it curves the opposite way and curves a lot.

Like Samsung's phone, the G Flex is expected to have a curved AMOLED screen rather than just curved glass like past devices.

Breaking: Nexus 5 Prototype Bares All In Leaked Crystal Clear 7-Minute HD Video

A crystal clear 7-minute video of the Nexus 5 (I think we can accept that's going to be the name at this point) was just leaked on the web. It's an older build than the one leaked by TuttoAndroid yesterday, but look - it's the Nexus 5 hardware in the clearest shots we've seen yet! smartphones.sfr.fr appears all over it, so the full credit for this leak goes out to them.

LG Announces The G Pro Lite, A Cheaper Optimus G Pro That Keeps The Size But Loses The Specs

Don't let the name fool you - the LG G Pro Lite isn't a small phone. This handset has a 5.5-inch screen, a 3,140mAh battery, dual SIM slots, and its own stylus. That means the G Pro Lite is just as large as the Optimus G Pro itself. What makes it "lite" then? The specs. The new handset drops from a quad-core processor to a dual-core processor, and with a 960 x 540 resolution, you can forget watching the 1080p content the original device could handle.

LG Is Now Mass-Producing Flexible 6-inch OLED Screens, Presumably For Upcoming Smartphones

If you've always wanted a phone with a big, curved screen, LG wants to grant your wish. To that end the company is now mass-producing flexible OLED screen panels, presumably for an upcoming device or class of devices. The screen itself (not the phone or tablet that it's going into) will be 6 inches diagonally, .44mm thin, and just 7.2 grams.

LG didn't include a photo with their PR, so here's the same Samsung demo that's been floating around for years.

WSJ: LG Will Launch Smartphone With A Curved Screen In November

LG and Samsung are long-time competitors in the South Korean electronics market, and the two are reportedly racing to release a curved-screen smartphone. Now the Wall Street Journal is reporting that LG's curved phone is set for a November release and it will be called the G Flex. Other sources claim the device will be dubbed the LG Z.
