5.5" 1080p AT&T LG Optimus G Pro Pre-Order Is Live, Ships May 7th

A couple of days ago, we found out that LG's latest powerhouse, the Optimus G Pro, is going to be exclusively available on AT&T in the United States. We had our eyes on this device ever since David reviewed the Korean version and found it "decidedly superior to the Galaxy Note II in many ways."

The 5.5" 1080p device packs a competitive Snapdragon 600 clocked at 1.7GHz, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, 13MP/2.1MP cameras, and a 3,140mAh battery.

AT&T Makes The LG Optimus G Pro Official, Available Beginning May 10 For $199

We've known about LG's NYC event that's happening today for, well, a while now. We've also basically known that it's going to be about the Optimus G Pro here in the US, and that the device would likely be coming to AT&T.

IMAGE_-_Optimus_G_Pro_front_201304301522182 IMAGE_-_Optimus_G_Pro_front_angled_201304301522181 IMAGE_-_Optimus_G_Pro_back_201304301522183

Looks like all the "rumors" were true (we definitely didn't already know that... right?) because AT&T just officially announced the G Pro. For those unfamiliar with the device, it's LG's Note competitor, and it's quite the beastly little (big) gadget:

  • 5.5" 1080p IPS Display (440 PPI)
  • 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor
  • 2GB RAM
  • 32GB built-in storage, microSD card slot
  • 13MP rear shooter, 2.1MP front camera
  • 3,140mAh battery
  • Android 4.1.2

The G Pro will hit AT&T shelves on May 10th for $199 with a two-year agreement, but if you want to secure this next-gen behemoth before that, pre-orders will start on May 3rd.

LG Revolution Gets [Minor] OTA Update - Software Version VS910ZVB, Actually Removes Bloat

Verizon just posted up some software update documents for the LG Revolution, one of the aging first-gen LTE handsets that debuted on the network way back in 2011. The software version is VS910ZVB, as opposed to the build that rolled out a year ago  - VS910ZV9.

The new build includes some OS security fixes, removes quite a few pieces of bloatware, and updates Google Maps Services. Given the removal of bloat and patching of holes, this may well be the last update the Revolution ever sees.

Full Details (And An Image) Of The Optimus G Pro Surface Ahead Of Next Week's Event

LG has an event coming up in New York City on May 1st. That is exactly six days from today. And do you know what it's going to announce? The Optimus G Pro for the US. But if just knowing that isn't enough, pictures and full details of the device have hit the 'net today, leaving essentially nothing for LG to actually announce next week.

So, there's the phone, sporting full AT&T branding.

Verizon Updates Spectrum 2 Support Docs, Jelly Bean Incoming (Build VS93021B)

Looks like Verizon's on a roll – two OTAs in the same day! Earlier today, it updated the support docs for the original Stratosphere with details of an upcoming incremental update, and now it looks like Jelly Bean is getting ready to hit the airwaves on its way to the LG Spectrum 2.

image

Aside from Jelly Bean goodies, the update also packs a few fixes and tweaks:

+ Weather application and widget have been updated
+ NFC LG Tag+ help has been improved
+ Brightness option has been moved to notification panel for global access
+ Browser now loads Google account bookmarks
+ Improved readability for email conversation
+ Optimized Bluetooth® connect/disconnect and audio stream switching implementations
+ User can back up contacts when the SIM is swapped to a new device
+ Preloaded widgets including Social+, Today+, Finance, News and Power Control have been removed

Once Big Red updates its support docs, that usually means an OTA is imminent – this one should likely start heading out sometime this week.

LG Optimus G Pro (Korean Version) Review: LG Finally Finds The Sweet Spot (A Relatively Large One)

Giant smartphones are becoming increasingly popular the world over, and for the last two years, it's a market Samsung has absolutely and utterly dominated. The Note and Note II are both excellent devices, and Samsung had the rare luck of getting something right the first time with the Note line. If you want a big phone, and money is no object, the Note II stands alone. It seems LG, though, has something to say about that.

LG Spills The Beans - May 1st Event In NYC Will Debut The Optimus G Pro For The US

My Optimus G Pro review (of the Korean version) will be on the way later today, but it sounds like LG has finalized plans to bring its Note II competitor to the US, a la a follow-up to event it announced last week, scheduled for May 1st.

LG sent out official invitations to said event today, and they're not even trying to hide the star of the show: the Optimus G Pro is on its way to America.

CyanogenMod 10.1 Released For The LG Optimus 4X HD, Starting With Nightly Builds

Just a week or so after the CyanogenMod ROM team expanded its support for LG's Optimus G flagship, another high-end smartphone has been added to the mix. The Optimus 4X HD (also known as the P880) just showed up on the official CyanogenMod servers, in a 10.1 (Android 4.2) build no less. Right now there are only two builds posted, but that should increase fairly quickly, and the Tegra 3 internals mean that the CyanogenMod developers will be on familiar ground.

LG Announces New York Event May 1 – Get Ready For The Optimus G Pro In The US

If Samsung makes a UI overlay for Android, LG will make a UI overlay for Android. If Samsung starts making bigger phones, LG will start making bigger phones. And if Samsung announces its new flagship device at a big New York City event, you can bet LG is going to announce its new flagship device at a big New York City event. Yes, the time has come for LG to (almost certainly) reveal the Optimus G Pro for US carriers.
