My, my, but it is difficult to keep a device properly under wraps these days. The latest leak for LG's 2014 flagship G3 comes courtesy of the company's own Dutch website, spotted by Netherlands enthusiast site Portable Gear. LG took the promotional page down almost immediately, but not before keen eyes managed to record pretty much everything about the upcoming phone. Spoiler alert: reading the following won't leave you many surprises for tomorrow's event in London. Read More
Regular Android Police readers know we're big fans of ZeroLemon's even bigger batteries for most flagship phones that can support them. If you've got an LG G Pro 2 (and preferably some oversized pockets as well), you can extend your untethered time by a considerable amount with the 9500mAh extended battery. The battery and its body-wrapping case are now on sale at Amazon for $49.99.
The G Pro 2's battery is already among the largest standard phone batteries available at 3200mAh, so the ZeroLemon package should give you roughly triple the battery life on one charge. Read More
T-Mobile is ready to pull the metaphorical VoLTE lever marked Seattle, giving the city early access to the upgraded infrastructure the carrier hopes to roll out to more parts of the country over the course of the year. This voice over LTE connection will allow consumers to use voice and data at the same time, as voice calls will go out over IP on LTE rather than taking the current switched-circuit path approach. Between a bevy of leaks and no small amount of official previews, LG won't have much to tell us at its press conference next week that we don't already know. The latest official glimpse at the upcoming G3 flagship is the video below, which shows off the "QuickCircle" case, the latest incarnation of a flip case with a touch-through preview window. The idea isn't new, but the shape is: the QuickCircle case uses a large radial display area for basic phone functions. Read More
With today's leak of many of the LG G3's specifications in an internal presentation, it seems all but confirmed at this point that the company's new flagship will sport a 5.5" QHD display. That's big. Like, really big. That's only two tenths of an inch smaller than the display on the Note 3, the current phablet of choice.
This, understandably, has some people hesitant: why is LG going so big with the G3? Read More
As was the the G2, LG's G3 is one of the most leaked high-end smartphones of the year, and the information just seems to keep on flowing. Today, GSM Arena posted images from an internal presentation on the G3 in Korea, and they basically confirm many of the device's suspected components.
Perhaps most importantly, the G3 will apparently be the first major smartphone to launch with a QHD (Quad HD) display, something long predicted as inevitable in the race to ever-denser screens. Read More
Hey guys, how's the ol' Optimus G Pro holding up? Pretty well? Good news! That guy is about to get even better, as AT&T is pushing the Android 4.4.2 OTA starting now. That brings about a bunch of new features, including some battery improvements, Project Svelte (which just generally makes things faster), and more.
You can grab the update now by heading into the settings menu and hitting About phone > Software Update > Update now. Read More
If you haven't seen the LG G3 by now, you've been living under a rock. LG's upcoming flagship has been leaked ten ways to Sunday, but we're finally seeing it in full-on press shot mode with the latest dump from Phone Arena. Unfortunately, these photos still don't show us what the G3's software is going to look like, though that does make it easier to hold out a modicum of hope that LG will back off with its UI modifications on this new device. Are there just not enough wearable options in your life? Well, LG is going to be getting into the game come May 18th. The company's previously announced Lifeband Touch and corresponding Heart Rate Earphones will be on sale at that time to augment your person.
These devices were announced back at CES 2014, but now we've got a release date. The Lifeband Touch is mostly a fitness tracker with a small OLED screen, but it can also pipe in all your notifications and do a few other tricks. Read More
I'll wager that you haven't been to an action movie in the last two years without a trailer blaring great farting blasts of brass at you over quick cuts and helicopter shots. If it works for Hollywood, perhaps LG hopes it will work for Seoul. The company is teasing its upcoming G3 flagship in no uncertain way with a new teaser, no doubt intended to whet the appetites of gadget hounds before the press event on May 27th. Read More
