Were you one of the many people surprised and delighted when T-Mobile announced that it would be selling the LG Optimus T for just $29.99? If so, you're about to be even more surprised and delighted - both the Optimus T and its Huawei-built brethren are now available for $0.00 on a new two-year contract!

It's not exactly shocking to see Wirefly touting the device free of charge when some of their recent deals are taken into account, but it certainly is a bit surprising to see that T-Mobile's doing the same. While the latter's still charging $29.99 for the colored versions of the phones, Wirefly will hand you both the Burgundy and the Titanium versions free.

T-Mobile's recently announced LG Optimus T isn't exactly the most specced-out little bugger, despite its Autobot-like name, but according to the carrier's Facebook page, it will have at least one exciting feature: a budget-friendly price point. Indeed, T-Mobile will be selling the device for a seriously considerable $29.99 (on a new two-year contract and after a $50 mail-in-rebate, of course) starting November 3rd. A top-of-the-line device this may not be, but there's no denying that at a price more affordable than that of many messaging phones, many customers will view the Optimus T as an impulse purchase. And hey, who wouldn't want more customers to convert to Android and discover all 100,000 of its apps?

T-Mobile Introduces The LG Optimus T: Android Babysteps

Although the name may be reminiscent of Optimus Prime, this phone might not live up to the most powerful Autobot. Think of the Optimus T as an Android feature phone with the stats of a mid-range device.

It comes packed with the following specs:

  • Android 2.2 FroYo
  • 3.2 inch capacitive touchscreen
  • 3.2MP Camera (no Flash - what is this, 2005?)
  • Wifi (includes Mobile Hotspot Option)
  • GPS
  • Bluetooth

The Optimus T appears to be the exact opposite of what most people are expecting to see from handset manufacturers: a starter phone. Most of you who are reading this blog are probably hoping to see the latest and greatest in Android handsets, but LG is aiming at the users who are on the fence about Android.
