The Optimus G is a phone you'd have to be living under a rock not to have heard about at this point, but pricing and availability information for the US has been surprisingly scant up until now. We knew it was coming to AT&T and Sprint, but in regards to when and how much, "soon" and "some amount of money" were really all we had.

Today, on its official blog, AT&T announced that the Optimus G will be available for pre-order starting October 16 (at this link), and you'll have to cough up $199 and either start a 2-year contract or renew your existing AT&T agreement to get it at that price.

I know what you're thinking. Did he fire six shots or only five? LG? Making an interesting video? Pshaw, I say! Before you dismiss it, though, let me ask you something. Have you ever seen a phone built out of magic and diamonds?! No? Then I've got something new to show you. In this four-minute promo video for the LG Optimus G, we see a man who is, apparently, a sparkle bender, forge a block of pure obsidian, then literally carve the phone out of this block with telekinesis.

That's right, we're finally jumping on the rumor train for the next Nexus phone(s?). Today, Android and Me published an article with a rather detailed rumor stemming from a "regular source who has provided accurate information in the past."

Given their confidence, and the specificity of their assertions, we're inclined to put some stock in them. So, what is the rumor? Let me break it down for you.

First, the Optimus G is going to be a Nexus phone.

Before you ask, no, we don't know how much, and we don't know when. Yeah. Sorry. Anyway, if you've been looking forward to the first mass-market Snapdragon S4 Pro smartphone, you're in luck. Because at some point in the future (wooooooo) you'll be able to get it on AT&T or Sprint! That smartphone, of course, is the LG Optimus G. Which, if you haven't heard about it, must mean you've been living under a rock for the last month while LG has personally gone door to door making sure literally everyone has seen it.

Wi-Fi Alliance, the go-to association for certification of wireless LAN technologies, today announced the launch of its Miracast certification program.

For those unaware, Miracast is a new wireless display technology that allows users to "transmit" or stream video or other media content from one device to another quickly, easily, and wirelessly using Wi-Fi Direct. The technology essentially offers a mirrored display experience with low latency and responsiveness that's just what you'd hope for.

Greetings from New York! LG showed off the Optimus G today, their new monster of a phone. If you haven’t heard, it’s the first phone with a 1.5Ghz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. Qualcomm's dual-core chips can hold their own against the quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3, so this should be one of the fastest phones available. It’s also one of the first phones to have a next-gen Adreno 320 GPU, which, again, means it should be really fast.

LG has confirmed that its upcoming flagship, the Optimus G, will be launching in the United States this November. Carrier partners went unannounced, but given LG's historical relationship with Verizon, we'd hedge our bets there first and foremost, though AT&T could be another likely contender for the first major handset released with a quad-core Qualcomm processor.

We do know the Optimus G is packing LTE, but that it must be courtesy of a discrete radio, as the APQ8064 Qualcomm S4 Pro chipset does not include a cellular modem.
