Just yesterday we featured a deal for the AT&T version of the enormous LG Optimus G Pro over at Amazon Wireless, but if you're willing to put in a bit of legwork (and you live in one of a few specific areas in the US) you can do even better. Fry's electronics stores have the Optimus G Pro available for just $99.99 with a new two-year contract. That's a full half off of AT&T's retail price for the subsidized phone. Unfortunately, the deal is only valid in retail stores - Fry's online store is only allowing the $600 off-contract purchase at the moment.

If you have a penchant for big phones, but find the Galaxy Note II entirely too pedestrian, the LG Optimus G Pro on AT&T might be just the thing. AT&T is asking $199.99 for this brand new device, but Amazon is already offering a deal (albeit a small one). The Optimus G Pro can currently be snatched online for $169.99 on a 2-year contract.

This new LTE-packing handset has a 5.5-inch 1080p screen, 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage. Inside is a 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600, the same super-chip found in the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4. Sadly, there are no fun color choices for this device – it's just black.

LG Optimus G Pro Available At AT&T Starting Today

The 5.5-inch, LTE-toting LG Optimus G Pro is now available for purchase at AT&T. Packing a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, a 1080p display, and a 3,140mAh battery, the G Pro's no slouch, and, as we found in our review of the Korean version, stands up well against competitors like the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.

The Optimus G Pro can be picked up for $200 on a 2-year contract, $450 on a 1-year one (an option that makes the least sense financially), or $550 without signing your life away. It's currently in stock both online and at AT&T retail locations, so if you're in the market for a new tab/phone, get to it!

LG Announcing New Device May 30 – Could This Be The Optimus G2?

As is the custom these days, another Android OEM has teased a phone with an event invitation. A year ago it wouldn't have been very interesting to speculate on what LG was up to, but the OEM has been returned to prominence after building the last Nexus device and delivering a competent flagship phone of its own in the Optimus G. This invitation summons press to an event in Macau, China at the end of the month, and it might be the Optimus G2.

The tagline on the invitation is “ImaGination Begins,” so we're definitely looking at an announcement in the G family of devices.

[Updated] Bluetooth Filing Reveals LG LS980 Running Android 4.2 - Is This The Snapdragon 800-Powered Sprint Optimus G 2?

Update: Turns out this probably isn't the Optimus G Pro - it looks a heck of a lot more like what is being collectively dubbed the Optimus G 2. It seems an official Sprint page with build.prop info for the LS980 has been dug up (by our commenters), and it reveals a few tasty tidbits -namely, confirming Android 4.2[.2], and an MSM8974 chipset. That's no Snapdragon 600 - that's a Snapdragon 800. That processor isn't even out yet, so whatever phone this is, it's still a ways off. Our guess is the successor to the Optimus G.

While Bluetooth organization filings aren't always the most reliable way to identify a particular upcoming device, we're fairly confident in a filing that was made yesterday for a certain piece of LG hardware: the LS980.

5.5" 1080p AT&T LG Optimus G Pro Pre-Order Is Live, Ships May 7th

A couple of days ago, we found out that LG's latest powerhouse, the Optimus G Pro, is going to be exclusively available on AT&T in the United States. We had our eyes on this device ever since David reviewed the Korean version and found it "decidedly superior to the Galaxy Note II in many ways."

The 5.5" 1080p device packs a competitive Snapdragon 600 clocked at 1.7GHz, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, 13MP/2.1MP cameras, and a 3,140mAh battery. Not bad, right? The only thing it seems to be missing compared to its two major competitors, the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S4, is 802.11ac Wi-Fi, but chances are that by the time you are able to fully utilize that kind of speed, you'll be due for an upgrade.

AT&T Makes The LG Optimus G Pro Official, Available Beginning May 10 For $199

We've known about LG's NYC event that's happening today for, well, a while now. We've also basically known that it's going to be about the Optimus G Pro here in the US, and that the device would likely be coming to AT&T.

Looks like all the "rumors" were true (we definitely didn't already know that... right?) because AT&T just officially announced the G Pro. For those unfamiliar with the device, it's LG's Note competitor, and it's quite the beastly little (big) gadget:

LG has an event coming up in New York City on May 1st. That is exactly six days from today. And do you know what it's going to announce? The Optimus G Pro for the US. But if just knowing that isn't enough, pictures and full details of the device have hit the 'net today, leaving essentially nothing for LG to actually announce next week.

Giant smartphones are becoming increasingly popular the world over, and for the last two years, it's a market Samsung has absolutely and utterly dominated. The Note and Note II are both excellent devices, and Samsung had the rare luck of getting something right the first time with the Note line. If you want a big phone, and money is no object, the Note II stands alone. It seems LG, though, has something to say about that.

After the rather abysmal failure that was the hilariously-shaped Optimus Vu, it had been rumored LG was getting out of the big phone game. Apparently, though, it's had a change of heart - the Optimus G Pro being the result.

LG Spills The Beans - May 1st Event In NYC Will Debut The Optimus G Pro For The US

My Optimus G Pro review (of the Korean version) will be on the way later today, but it sounds like LG has finalized plans to bring its Note II competitor to the US, a la a follow-up to event it announced last week, scheduled for May 1st.

LG sent out official invitations to said event today, and they're not even trying to hide the star of the show: the Optimus G Pro is on its way to America. While the invitation does not announce any specific carrier partnerships, Sprint and AT&T both carried the Optimus G, so they're probably the best starting points.
