Months after the worldwide release, the Nexus 4 is still in short supply in nearly every market around the globe. If you're in Australia or Spain (and reading this on Tuesday) you might have a shot at grabbing the world's most elusive Android phone. The local editions of the Play Store are currently showing the Nexus 4 in stock in both 8GB and 16GB flavors.
The last time that the Nexus 4 was available in both these countries, the supply dwindled almost immediately - according to commenters, Spanish supplies were depleted in an eye-popping ten minutes. Read More
Earlier this week, we got wind of a new OTA build JOP40G possibly hitting the Nexus 4 soon. I thought this update would finally be the elusive Android 4.2.2 that we've been hearing about, but it looks like that's not the case.
Yesterday, Google pushed some new open source code to AOSP (Android Open Source Project) marked with 2 new tags: android-4.2.1_r1.1 and android-4.2.1_r1.2. The build number corresponding to the 4.2.1_r1.2 release is - you guessed it - JOP40G (with mentions of JOP40F and JOP40E along the way too) - the same one we thought would be 4.2.2. Read More
Since the debut of the Nexus 4 last year, users have been craving official accessories. The Nexus line has never had great luck in seeing OEM accessories come to market, but the long-awaited release of the Nexus 7 dock brought a glimmer of hope.
It looks like Nexus owners have even more to be excited about today, though, as the Nexus 4's wireless orb charger is up for grabs from Pure Mobile. Read More
Australians on the prowl for the Nexus 4, your time has finally come. You were last, after U.S., Canada, Germany, Spain, France, and UK, but who's holding grudges? Just like our tipster indicated, both the 8GB and the 16GB Nexus 4s are on sale on the Play Store as of a few minutes ago. The Bumper, unfortunately, seems to be out, but that's a minor niggle in the grand scheme of things. Read More
Yesterday, we caught a glimpse of an alleged white Nexus 4. While we initially questioned its legitimacy, we ultimately walked away assuming that it was indeed the real deal. However, the question was: is this going to become a thing, or is it simply a prototype?
While today's leak can't really help us answer that question, it does give us a very good look at what the white Nexus 4 has to offer. Read More
Yesterday, Google re-released the Nexus 4 in the U.S., Germany, and Canada. We also heard that the UK, France, and Spain would be the lucky ones today. So far, everything seems to be panning out nicely, as both the 8GB and 16GB versions of the device – as well as the bumper case – just went on sale in the UK. Read More
We're still waiting to confirm availability in France and Spain.
If you're waiting your turn for a chance to buy the Nexus 4 off the Google Play Store in the UK, France, Spain, or Australia, then listen up. The elusive Nexus 4 stock should be replenished in the aforementioned countries come January 30th (January 31st for Australia).
According to our tipster who was spot-on this morning about the 9am U.S. launch (Germany and Canada are already live as well), "Temporarily Out Of Stock" will finally switch to "In Stock" at the following times:
There's no word on whether the bumper cases will go on sale, so be sure to check once the Nexus 4 is live. Read More
PhoneArena has obtained an image of something that definitely looks like it could be a white Nexus 4. Here's the photo in question.
The quality isn't fantastic, but what we're looking at does appear to be a Nexus 4 that's been through a serious bleaching. The reflective pores are still present (see the bottom-right of the photo), and the camera module now appears to have a slightly visible border. This may just be a result of the fact that the white color shows the outline more clearly. Read More
The Nexus 4 is back in stock on the US Play Store (both the 8GB and 16GB models), as predicted. So, if you want one, go buy it. Now. HURRY. Oh, and the bumper case is available too. The Nexus 4 is also in stock in the German Play Store, though bumper cases do not appear to be available in Deutschland.
Update: Looks like sales are now live in Canada, as well. Read More
The Nexus flood gates seem to have opened today, with both Best Buy and Wirefly not only launching their respective Nexus 4 pages, but also actually having devices in stock. And now it looks to me like Google is preparing a fresh batch of the sought-after sold out devices, as all "Sold Out" product pages were switched to say "Temporarily Out of Stock" a few minutes ago.
Call me crazy, but I don't think this is simply a meaningless change in wording. Read More
