If you're using LG's flagship G3 or the oddball G Flex on Sprint, expect some new software next week. According to an internal Sprint document, both phones will be updated with some minor software patches, version ZV26 for the G3 and ZV9 for the G Flex. Just to make it clear, you're not getting Lollipop, at least not yet: the document shows that it's mostly security and bug fixes, plus international Wi-Fi calling.

T-Mobile's VoLTE rollout is continuing full steam ahead, and today, the Uncarrier is giving more customers access to it thanks to a new software update for LG's mammoth G Flex.

Beginning November 17, the LG G Flex will have a software update to Android KitKat 4.4.2/SWV20s that turn on VoLTE services via OTA over Wi-Fi in available VoLTE markets only. For devices not in VoLTE markets, the update will also be available via OTA via Wi-Fi or the LG Mobile Support Tool.

The AT&T version of the LG G Flex is getting upgraded! Huzzah! But don't bust out the champagne just yet, G Flex owners: at the end of your upgrade you'll still be using Android 4.4.2, like you have been since April. According to AT&T's update support page, the newest patch for the phone doesn't add very much at all.

G Flex software build D95020f adds the "latest Android security patches," an updated version of LG's built-in music app that you don't use, and some compatibility fixes for the LG G Watch.

There probably aren't a lot of Sprint G Flex devices floating around out there, but surely some buyers couldn't resist the seductive curves of this device. Those folks will be seeing an update (version ZV7) in the next few days that adds a few user-facing features and some back end fixes.

T-Mobile is ready to pull the metaphorical VoLTE lever marked Seattle, giving the city early access to the upgraded infrastructure the carrier hopes to roll out to more parts of the country over the course of the year. This voice over LTE connection will allow consumers to use voice and data at the same time, as voice calls will go out over IP on LTE rather than taking the current switched-circuit path approach.

People who bought the un-flattened LG G Flex on the un-carrier T-Mobile should be on the lookout for a chocolate dose of new features. The carrier has announced a software update is hitting devices starting today, bumping them up to Android 4.4 and software version D95920d.

On the G Flex's update support page, T-Mobile lists the update as Android 4.4.3. Considering that the Sprint G Flex just received Android 4.4.2 a week ago, this is probably a typo.

Believe it or not, there are some people who bought the G Flex on Sprint for $300 on-contract. Those people will finally have something to be happy about today with the news that Sprint is rolling out KitKat to the curvy device starting today (4/28).

Hey, you. Yeah, you with the fancy curvaceous phone. Stop showing off that flexible frame and self-healing back, and check your settings menu. According to AT&T's blog, the LG G Flex is being updated to Android 4.4 as of today. Huzzah, excelsior, and general rejoicing abound. At least a few users over at XDA have already received the over-the-air update.

I think we can all agree that AT&T's $300 on-contract price for the LG G Flex is unacceptable. Sprint's $250 asking price is also too high, though not as obscene. If you're looking for a curved phone, you can get the G Flex for a mere $99.99 on-contract with either carrier through Amazon.

Easily the coolest part of LG's custom Android skin is KnockOn, a feature introduced with the G2 that allows users to knock on a sleeping phone to wake it up. Knock Code, a pattern-based alternative with a bit more security, was introduced with the G Pro 2 and other phones at Mobile World Congress. According to a new press release, LG will make good on its promise to expand this feature to other phones, starting with the G2 and G Flex in April.
