Update schedules are rarely a final thing, and users can get quite angry when they don’t receive updates according to schedule. However, HTC may have finally given themselves a schedule that they can adhere to: all of their recently released phones will be updated to Android 2.2 “before Christmas.” They had previously announced that ‘several’ models would receive the update in Q3 2010, so it’s unclear if this announcement means that timetable has shifted.

It’s official: word from HTC is that “several” HTC phones released in 2010 – including the Desire, Legend, and Wildfire – will be getting Android 2.2 (FroYo) “beginning in Q3.” Considering that July is days away, that timetable isn’t too bad, all things considered.

The FroYo update has been the most publicized and anticipated update yet. As I’ve pointed out before, the Android universe is expanding at an unbelievable pace.

HTC Wildfire Official Site Is Now Live

Oh how much I love HTC's website. It is clean, simple, and very well laid out - other mobile companies should learn from them. HTC is not a small company by far but manage to present all the information we need in a way that no other manufacturer site I've seen (<3 HTC).

Remember the HTC Wildfire revelation to the public yesterday? To keep the momentum going, this morning HTC launched their official HTC Wildfire site, full of specs, photos, and highlights.

After the good gentlemen over at Smartphone Arena broke embargo this morning, HTC went ahead and made things official with their latest Android handset, the HTC Wildfire.

Looking like the bastard child of an HTC Legend and Google Nexus One, it seems the Wildfire is intended to further flesh out HTC’s lineup of Android handsets. The handset is set to hit Europe and Asia in Q3 2010, which is a shame, because this is definitely the kind of handset that T-Mobile US could use.
