In the ever expanding quest for root access on the EVO 3D and its T-Mo cousin, the Sensation 4G, another chapter has unfolded. XDA devs have achieved sticky-temp root on both handsets, which basically means that temp root will now survive reboot. This still isn't permanent root, though, as the SU binaries are not in the default path(s), but instead an alternate location which can lead to some root apps not functioning properly. Read More
If you want to get one of the hottest phones on T-Mo for the lowest price you can find, then you should probably head over the Wirefly where you can score the HTC Sensation 4G for $130 with a new two-year agreement. This is quite the deal, as Amazon Wireless and T-Mobile are both still selling this handset for $200.
Still not sold? Take a look at what you'll get for that one-thirty:
- 4.3 inch qHD Super LCD display
- 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor
- 768MB RAM
- 1GB built-in storage
- 8MP rear camera, VGA front camera
- Android 2.3 with Sense 3.0
As you can tell by those specs, this phone is definitely no joke. Read More
Yesterday, Skype with video was officially released to the Android Market. There was one problem, though: it was only supported on a small number of seemingly random handsets, like the Nexus S (but not the Nexus S 4G), Desire S, Xperia neo, and Xperia pro. Thanks to the ingenuity of skilled Android modder 0mie, that's no longer the case.
With 0mie's modded version of Skype 2, video chat should be fully working on a number of recent phones, including the Thunderbolt (running Gingerbread), Sensation, EVO 3D, Galaxy S II, and Droid Charge. Read More
Complaints about HTC's Sense UI becoming increasingly bloated are nothing new, but there's no denying that the skin has its upsides - and Reddit user TheEntireUniverse just unearthed another such boon. Behold, the preview image for Sense 3.0's "Friend Stream" widget:
For those not familiar with the reference, Jill Valentine is one of the main characters in the popular Resident Evil franchise, and the Nemesis-destroys-a-helicopter story was taken right out of the third game in the series. Read More
It's no secret that the HTC Sensation is coming to T-Mobile on June 15th for $199 after a $50 mail-in-rebate. The device is also going to be landing at select Wal-Mart stores as early as June 12, but until now, we had no idea what the pricing was going to look like. The crew over at Android Community has gotten a hold of some info that tells us just that, and it looks like it's going to come in at $148.88 (with a two-year agreement). Read More
A few weeks ago, the Android community notched another victory: HTC formally announced it would no longer be locking its bootloaders, though they hadn't really worked out all the details yet. Add another device to the "it won't be locked, we just don't know how or when" list: the HTC Sensation.
Ah, yes, the infamous alot. ಠ_ಠ
The important bit of that wall of text:
We are currently developing new bootloader unlocked software for [the Sensation].
Having had the HTC Sensation in-hand for about a week, our unit has developed some troubling issues with its touchscreen. Namely, the panel often misses first presses, and also struggles with fast brushing movements.
The first issue results in great frustration when typing, as auto-correction of words does not work without the first letter. It also means you often have to tap several times on icons on the homescreen to launch an application. Read More
Update: It has been confirmed by T-Mobile that the Sensation 4G will cost $199.99 on a two-year contract after a $50 mail-in rebate. Still no word on off-contract pricing, however.
It doesn't come as much of a surprise, but T-Mobile has finally announced the release date of the long-awaited Sensation 4G - by June 15 at T-Mobile retail stores, and as early as June 12 at select Wal-Mart locations. Unfortunately, T-Mobile didn't provide anything in the way of pricing, but we'll certainly be hearing about that in the coming days. Read More

HTC is continuing to release devices with signed locked bootloaders, as we found out today after taking a look at the latest HTC Sensation system dump. The upcoming HTC Sensation is one of the most powerful and desirable devices coming up, alongside the Galaxy S2, but while the latter's bootloader is unlocked, the one in the Sensation is protected via HTC's private key.
Unless we get really lucky, this means no custom kernels on the device (i.e. Read More
