Hey guys, I know that when you hear "Rezound" and "OTA" in the same sentence your first thought is probably "Jelly Bean!" Hate to be the bearer of bad news here, but that's not the case. It's just an update that enables global roaming and does a lot of other petty stuff.

See? Let's Golf 2 was updated! Skype was made gooder! Visual Voicemail now show the correct amount of notifications! All cynicism aside, I'm sure someone, somewhere can appreciate something in this update, as minor as it may be.

The support docs were just updated today, which usually indicates an OTA is in its final stages of processing and should begin rolling out shortly.

Verizon is rolling out yet an OTA update to the HTC Rezound as of this morning, this one claiming to add "HTC Device Enhancement" (only one enhancement, obviously), so we're not quite sure what's inside. The new version number is 3.14.605.13 710RD, and you can probably expect it to begin rolling out some time this week.

The Incredible 2 is also getting some OTA love, with the some sort of cryptic changelog. Given that we saw a totally unexpected security update to the now-ancient EVO 4G last week, it seems possible these "enhancement" may be security-related as well.

Update: Amazon just updated the deals and dropped many of the prices down for customers looking to upgrade. For example, the RAZR M is now also just a penny for those renewing.

If you're looking to abandon your existing carrier and move to Big Red, then the RAZR M is a great phone to choose for the transition. And now you can grab it from Amazon Wireless for only a penny (Black, White). That's a top-notch phone with Jelly Bean (4.1.x) for basically free - and it's still $99 at Verizon.

If, for some strange reason, you'd rather have an older model, Amazon Wireless is running a number of other devices for a penny, like the RAZR MAXX, HTC Rezound, and the DROID Incredible LTE.

google-maps-is-about-to-get-an-update-adds-a-ton-of-new-public-transit-info-and-features

Google Maps received an update yesterday, making it a lot more friendly for users who rely on public transport to get from A to B by adding departure times for railway stations, among other new features.

Unfortunately, the new update is causing a few issues for HTC Rezound owners, who have found that the app causes their phone to reboot itself after using it for a few seconds. Users on forums such as XDA, The Milk Milk and AndroidCentral have all been complaining about the issue, so it looks to be pretty widespread.

It appears that Rezound owners will encounter the issue after opening an app that is tied in with Maps, whether it's the actual Maps app, Latitude or Navigation.

Remember the sudden 4.03.605.1 OTA update that unexpectedly hit some HTC Rezound devices earlier this week and brought global roaming with it? And the 4.03.605.2 full RUU that we followed up with shortly after? We've just gotten a hold of the full low-level Verizon changelog for these releases (the .2 one to be exact), so here's what's different compared to that final ICS OTA from only a few weeks ago (remember, half of the changelogs' value comes from knowing what to not expect):

Features/Enhancements

  1. Global support enabled

Issues Resolved

  1. Let’s Golf 2 v1.2.1
  2. Skype video call – color incorrect
  3. Lockup
  4. Mobile Hotspot shows incorrect number of devices
  5. Time displayed after powering off and then right back on
  6. BUA+ read requests
  7. BUA+ not displaying in Landscape mode
  8. Data stall
  9. Mobile IM removed
  10. Guided tour video can now be found in “Basic Set-up and Usage Videos”
  11. Location settings pop-up removed
  12. Data widget updated
  13. IPv6 default set to “Enabled”
  14. VMM version updated to 0.37
  15. Static IP
  16. VVM notification in “all Messages” tab after deleting
  17. VCAST Music – removed MP3 purchase references

We're also hearing that the end date for this trial is September 3rd - presumably, that means that if everything goes well, that's the date it's going to get approved and possibly roll out to everyone shortly after.

"Wait, didn't the Rezound just get an OTA update to build 4.03.605.1?" is something you may be asking yourself right now. And the answer to that is yes. Yes it did. We assume that build was some sort of soak test, however, as it hasn't actually started rolling out en masse just yet, and Verizon has been completely silent about the whole thing.

But this build is one more. Point one more, to be exact; so... we figure it fixes something. There's no changelog, so it's hard to say exactly what that something may be. Alas, it's one less broken thing, so be happy about that.

Verizon is possibly pushing out an over-the-air update v4.03.605.1 to the HTC Rezound which only just received ICS (v3.14.605.12) last week. The 104MB update is pretty hefty for only a few weeks of work, which has puzzled many XDA members and made things turn pretty ugly in the relevant thread. The reason I'm saying "possibly" is only one person at XDA has received it so far, which may indicate there's some sort of soak testing going on.

Update: A commenter (Cody) chimed in and let us know he's currently getting the OTA as well. Anyone else?

Having now read through 20+ pages of comments about half of which are literally baseless and ignorant garbage written by trolls with nothing better to do (what XDA update thread would it be without these, right?), I have pieced together a few details and confirmed that the OTA is indeed legitimate by verifying the update's cryptographic signature and checking with a source close to Verizon.

If you still had any doubts at this point that the HTC Rezound Ice Cream Sandwich update was indeed rolling out as reported by the first batch of users, let me dispel them right now. Verizon Wireless just updated the official document detailing the Android 4.0.3 rollout (it's indeed HTC build version 3.14.605.12 and Sense 3.6). Here are some screenshots of the doc along with the changelog:

With this upgrade, your device will now run on Android 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Additionally, here are some feature enhancements included with this software release.

+ V CAST Media Manager has been updated to Backup Assistant Plus with an enhanced user experience.

The HTC Rezound ICS update finally started rolling out today, and what do you know - it looks like the same version 3.14.605.12 that we've been holding onto for a few weeks. Since the OTA version matches the RUU we have, we're releasing it for those who don't necessarily feel like waiting for the staggered update or want an ability to restore back to full stock, or simply want to roll their own custom ROM.

Because I don't have a Rezound myself, I can only verify that the build number in the RUU matches up (3.14.605.12), and there are mentions of 1.16.002 and 2.10.002 which are also both present in the OTA's PRI version.

After countless leaks, a rumor of questionable origin, and a missed target release timeline of June-July, it looks like Verizon has opened the flood gates, and the HTC Rezound ICS update has started rolling out to the first batch of users, just a few days late.

Update: Verizon just officially confirmed.

The 299MB OTA bears the same version 3.14.605.12 that we heard about a few weeks ago and may take several months to become fully available to 100% of devices. That's the bad news.

The good news is that we've actually been in the possession of the full .12 RUU for a while but haven't bothered releasing it unless we could verify it was indeed the final OTA (it seemed too minor compared to the previous .10 leak).
