EVO 3D owners: want to be able to use the HTC Watch app and have access to The Green Hornet in full 3D, but wary that the system update may not be easily rooted? Well, you aren't alone. XDA user str8upx has extracted the updated HTC Watch .apk from the system update and has made it available to download for anyone who has not yet updated. This will enable users to use HTC Watch to its full ability, including watching the pre-loaded Green Hornet film.

Well, That Was Fast - HTC Is Testing A Gingerbread Build For The Desire

A couple of weeks ago, HTC said that, after months of hard work and failed attempts from its engineers, Gingerbread would not be coming to the Desire. Naturally, this brought on an onslaught of negative feedback from Desire owners, and HTC quickly backpedaled, stating that Gingerbread would be coming to the Desire, albeit a bit stripped down. It appears that this update was easier to put together than originally thought, as the build has now reached the testing phase, according to HTC's official Facebook page.

HTC Announces The Facebook-centric Status, Coming to AT&T This Summer

We've known of this phone and all of its different monikers - everything from the "Facebook phone" to the ChaCha - for a while, but now it's finally official, and bearing the name Status. Honestly, I can't think of a name more appropriate for a phone that's entire existence is defined by Facebook.

From a spec standpoint, the Status is nothing to brag about:

  • 2.6 inch 480x320 display
  • 800MHz Qualcomm processor
  • 512MB RAM
  • Full Blackberry-style keyboard
  • Android 2.3 with Sense

What does make this phone special, however, is its social integration and the inclusion of a Facebook button.

[Deal Alert 3D] Get The HTC EVO 3D For Just $150 At AmazonWireless

AmazonWireless has gone slashing more prices today - this time on the EVO 3D. You can pick up the 3D on a new 2-year agreement or line addition to your existing Sprint account for just $150 right now. That's $30 less than it was yesterday, so if you've been waiting for the right price to pick up your 3D, now seems like the time to do it. Those looking to upgrade from their current Sprint handsets will still have to pay the old price ($180).

HTC Is "Diligently Working" On That EVO 3D Bootloader Unlock, In Case You Were Wondering

EVO 3D owners across the US have been patiently waiting a whole 3 days (I know, it's an eternity) for HTC to make good on its promise to unlock the phone's bootloader. HTC has now issued a statement on the matter in response to a wall post on its Facebook page, which is overrun with complaints from EVO 3D owners (or people who just like to whine) criticizing what they perceive to be the slowness of the company's efforts to issue a bootloader unlock solution.

OnLive Viewer APK Pulled From HTC Flyer, And It Appears To Be Working On Most Devices

Last night, the HTC Flyer received an update that included the OnLive viewer, allowing users to get a glimpse of what the future of mobile gaming should look like. Naturally, those of us that don't have a Flyer want to peep into said future, too - so, in typical XDA fashion, the APK was extracted from the update so it could be installed on other devices. It's worth noting that this is the viewer, not the player, so you'll only be able to watch the action.

[Deal Alert 2] EVO Shift 4G Now Free At Wirefly On New 2-Year Agreement

Last week, I listed the EVO Shift 4G in my roundup of the best Android phones under $50, but that was when it was priced at $40 on AmazonWireless. Wirefly has now gone and beaten that price silly, offering the QWERTY-keyboard slider phone for the low, low price of "free" if you open a new Sprint account, or add a new line to your existing plan.

k

The EVO Shift 4G does have a tiny 3.6" display, but it's also packing a next-gen single core Snapdragon processor and a big 1530mAh battery - along with a fresh update to Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread.

For those who are not that lucky (yet), enjoy the pictures and videos while we all wait for AlphaRevX to release the full unlock for the Incredible 2.

[Tip] [Updated] Don't Want Bloatware On Your HTC EVO 3D? It Can Be Uninstalled Just Like Any Other App

Update: It turns out that this may not be as encompassing as we originally thought. According to Reddit member apantek, only a very limited amount of bloatware can be removed, leaving the bulk of it untouchable (this has been confirmed by our own Jaroslav Stekl). The unremovable files include:

  • Facebook for HTC Sense
  • Flickr
  • Footprints
  • HTC Hub
  • Peep
  • Picasa web albums
  • Polaris Office
  • Ringtone Trimmer
  • Spider-Man
  • Sprint Zone
  • The Green Hornet 3D
  • TrimIt

So, while Sprint may be making steps in the right direction, it's not completely there yet.
