It would appear that the patent battle between HTC and Apple, which has been going on since early 2010, is finally closed, with the two companies agreeing to opt for a ten-year licensing agreement.

The dispute began over two years ago when Apple levied a complaint regarding twenty patents at HTC, claiming infringement. Of course after that the two slapped each other with dispute after dispute, and the fight has boiled on ever since.

The DROID DNA (or DLX ... or DIX) is a phone we've seen running around in leaked photos and Verizon MAP spreadsheets for some time now, but the date of an official launch has generally been elusive. Evleaks suggested early December, and given today's announcement of a Verizon/HTC event next week, that seems to be an increasingly likely timeframe.

The DROID DNA is largely believed to be a DROIDified version of HTC's J Butterfly, a 5" 1080p, quad-core Snapdragon-packing beast of a phone.

Ever since the HTC J Butterfly was announced for Japan we've been wondering when that glorious 1080p display would be coming to US soil. We've seen leaks that indicate that the internals would be released here in a much more One X-looking case, and we're sure by this point that it will be called the Droid DNA. Now, everyone's favorite Twitter leakster (tweakster?) evleaks has dropped a press shot on us with the familiar name and promising an "early December" availability.

Hey Cricket customers! Want a new phone that may or may not be better than the one you already have? You can get the new HTC Desire C, a dinky little 3.5" thing inspired by the One series.

The Desire C features some of the things you'd expect from its higher end counterparts, like 25GB of Dropbox space, Beats Audio, and Sense 4, to go along with its 3.5" touchscreen and Android 4.0.

It looks like a couple of HTC's Asian One X variants are receiving updates to Jelly Bean which appear to have begun rolling out earlier today. XDA users confirm that the update carries Jelly Bean 4.1.1 (not the latest 4.1.2) along with HTC's latest and greatest version of its Sense UI, and weighs in at about 353MB.

You may remember that HTC North Asia's general manager Jack Tong promised that One X owners in Asia could expect the update to begin rolling out to the One X today, with the One S slated to receive some Jelly Bean goodness at an unspecified later date.

We've been hearing rumors of Verizon's massive 5" HTC phablet codenamed DLX for weeks now, but now we may have an idea of what the device's release name could be: the Droid DNA.

1

THIS IS CONFIDENTIAL.

According to a leaked MAP (minimum advertised price) document that fell into the hands of Android Central, the DNA could hit Big Red's shelves around November 20th for the typical $200 price tag. Then again, it also has the Note II listed with today's date, yet we haven't heard anything about it from Verizon.

This is the latest in our Weekend Poll series. For last week's, see Are You Content With Your Phone's Stock Battery Life?

Complain as some people might, smartphones are getting bigger and bigger. Nothing exemplifies that fact more than phablets like the HTC DLX (or other variants, such as the J Butterfly), Samsung Galaxy Note II, and LG Optimus Vu II. Packing 5"+ displays, powerful CPUs, and 2GB of RAM, these phones aren't for your grandmother.

Last week, HTC announced the J Butterfly, a 5" phone with a monster 1080p display (that's 440ppi) mated to a quad-core CPU and 2 GB of RAM. The announcement made it pretty clear that the J Butterfly wasn't coming to the US, but similar devices certainly weren't out of the question.

Now, we're seeing blurrycam photos of what's claimed to be Verizon's variant, dubbed the DLX ("Deluxe"). Sure enough, it's apparently packing similar specs: the same 5" 1080p display, a quad-core CPU, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, 8MP rear shooter and 2MP front.

Remember that HTC phone with the massive, 5" 1080p display that we've been hearing rumors about? Well, it's here! Where "here" means Japan. The Taiwanese manufacturer has just announced the HTC J Butterfly, the follow up to the previous HTC J model. This phone is packing a positively drool-worthy 1080p SLCD 3 display (you read that right) in a 5" slate. In case you were wondering, that is a retina-destroying 440ppi.

Update: If you take a look at the Verizon support doc now, you'll notice Isis support is no longer on the list of new features. Interesting. We've kept an image of the original below for comparison.

If you head over to the Verizon support site right now, you'll find that the DROID Incredible 4G has its first over the air update on the way. You can also check out the software update PDF if you're looking to be slightly disappointed.
