[Deal Alert] HTC Discounts The 32GB One A9 To $399 Today, March 8 ($100 Off)

When HTC announced the One A9 back in October, it decided to sell it for an introductory price of $399. That made a lot of sense for what is essentially an upper midrange device with excellent build quality and very good specs. However, when the phone passed the preorder period, its price shot back up to $499 (or even $520 with AT&T), which made it a lot less desirable. After all, you were paying top dollar for a 5" 1080p smartphone with a Snapdragon 617 whereas you could get a more powerful processor and a better screen for the same amount of dough.

HTC Says That The One A9 Will Never Come To Verizon After All

HTC announced the One A9 late last year with support for T-Mobile, AT&T, and Sprint out of the box. Verizon support was promised in early 2016. However, it looks like that dream dies today with word that HTC has been unable to get certification for the Verizon network.

HTC Brings The Formerly China-Exclusive One X9 To North Asia, Europe, The Middle East, And Africa

Two months ago (after no small amount of leaking) HTC announced the One X9, a variant phone with elements of its One line, exclusively for the vast Chinese market. Today in Barcelona the company has announced that it will expand the availability of said phone, bringing it to "North Asia" and the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) zone later this month. Specific countries and prices haven't been released, but in China it launched for 2399 yuan, about $370 USD.

HTC Unveils The Dazzling, Mid-Range Desire 530, 630, And 825

HTC is taking a different approach to this year's mid-range Desire phones. They're decidedly less modest.

With the new Desire 530, 630, and 825 phones unveiled at Mobile World Congress, HTC is deploying what it calls a micro splash design. We call the look sparkly. HTC says the look comes from the use of spray nozzles using different settings of pressure and paint viscosity. It's the design @evleaks leaked earlier today.

The provided press image was spot on. All three of these devices are polycarbonate with rear cameras in the upper corner, zigzagging speaker grills, and holes in the back for a phone lanyard.

New Midrange HTC Desire Codenamed "A16" Leaked In All 6 Sparkly Colors

Unlike Samsung and LG, HTC doesn't seem to be ready to reveal its next flagship, the One (M10), at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this week. But the company's portfolio doesn't stop at the One lineup. There's the Desire range as well, and one of its impending models is codenamed A16 and pictured in the leaked photo above, courtesy of Evan Blass (@evleaks). There are six color variants including plain black and white, and starry / sparkly black, white, red, and navy. Or at least that's the way my eyes see it.

But don't let that code confuse you into thinking this is an A-series smartphone, like the One A9.
