Verizon tends to actively discourage users from rooting and otherwise modifying their phones - that is to say, the users' phones, not Verizon's. Despite a draconian bootloader policy, the HTC One M7 (2013) has had at least some form of S-Off available since October of last year, and Justin Case's Sunshine tool has taken care of the more recent software builds. It's a little late to the party, but the official build of the Team Win Recovery Project is now available for the HTC One on Big Red.

HTC has been experimenting with different camera gimmicks lately. First there was the Ultrapixel camera in the M7, then the M8 added a second camera for simulated depth of field (that's the Duo Camera, of course). Now rumors are pointing to a new HTC device that ditches the Ultrapixel camera altogether. The M8_EYE will reportedly have a 13MP Duo Camera when it is announced next month.

Getting OTA updates out the door is no easy task, especially with carriers standing between the OEM and users. That's why Motorola has long used soak tests with small groups of users to hammer out bugs before the final certification. HTC has just posted details of its own "HTC Preview" program that does essentially the same thing.

Verizon has announced an over-the-air software update for the DROID DNA that's going to make a few users upset. There's no reason to wonder if this latest firmware version will make it more difficult to achieve root access, for the carrier has put this little tidbit of information towards the top of the change log. The second, and perhaps most interesting, item on the list reads: Device root vulnerability issue has been resolved.

Update: A curious Reddit poster tore through the promotional website and found what looks like two photos of the "ReCamera" and a mounting accessory. They seem pretty barebones, but they might be our first solid look at the device. Of course, at this point nothing is confirmed. Thanks to Jeremy (@jersteck) for the tip.

In a presidential memorial library somewhere out in the Sunnyvale area, cell carriers, hardware manufacturers, and innovators all came to dance in a single hall.

Cyanogen, Inc., the corporation that sprang from one of the largest families of Android custom ROMs, is expanding its corporate family once again. This time they've hired Leigh Momii, a Seattle-based executive currently with HTC's American arm. Momii has been employed by HTC for the last three and a half years, and intends to leave her position on Friday to become Cyanogen's Product Evangelist. She announced her plans on Google+ this morning.

HTC Scribble is now available in the Play Store. What's that? You've never heard of HTC Scribble? You're in good company, then - it's one of those little add-on features in Sense that doesn't get much press... on account of it not being very useful. Scribble is basically a digital scrapbooking app made to highlight some other features of Sense, like Zoe and some rudimentary stylus support. The app was introduced on the plus-sized HTC One Max, but may be available for other One devices.

We recently posted an exclusive look at technical drawings for a Bluetooth keyboard cover destined for HTC's upcoming Nexus 9 (Volantis) tablet. At the time all we had to go on were drawings accompanying the information provided to us (and my own renders), but VR-Zone caught some photos of the keyboard case as it passed through NCC certification.

We can confirm that the model number for the keyboard in these photos (UG0B) matches the model number in the materials provided to us for our initial coverage, so - while the device pictured may still be in testing - we can say with confidence that this is the same keyboard case.

If you can't beat 'em, diversify your consumer electronics portfolio until your company no longer relies exclusively on a single market. While that doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, it may indeed be HTC's new corporate strategy, if the latest report from Bloomberg is accurate. According to "a person familiar with [HTC's] plans," the Taiwanese phone maker is planning on showing off a stand-alone camera during its October 8th press event in New York City.
