This is an alpha release, meaning it is likely to be filled with bugs. Just like with any custom ROM, you are installing this at your own risk, and the developers are not responsible for any damage to your phones.

Tired of Nexus One and Droid users gloating their CyanogenMod 6 over you? Well, HTC Hero owners – worry no more. The Alpha version of CM6 (the same version available for said phones) has officially been released for the GSM Hero (this does not include the Sprint Hero). The do

It seems the question of whether Google will be staying in the business of designing flagship Android phones has been definitively answered, and by none other than the man in charge: Google CEO Eric Schmidt. While there has been speculation for some time that a Nexus Two may never happen, Eric Schmidt has effectively confirmed that this is the case…(emphasis ours)

Initially, Google felt that they needed to build a device to help Android along so they worked with HTC to create the Nexus One handset. Schmidt says: “The idea a year and a half ago was to do the Nexus One to try to move the phone platform hardware business forward.

Droid-Life has a source, including pictures and a video, showing that the Droid Incredible will be getting an OTA update… sometime. They don’t have an ETA, but it shouldn’t be far off. The key new features it brings are 720p video recording, 3G mobile hotspot, and (most importantly of all), the usual “DROID” red eye bootup.

Pretty awesome that when Android phones get OTA updates, they tend to bring awesome new features. Gotta love the Goog’.

Who Wants More Froyo? Yet Another Nexus One ROM Leak (FRF91)

Here we go again:

http://android.clients.google.com/packages/passion/signed-passion-FRF91-from-FRF85B.db99fdf1.zip (1MB)

You must have FRF85B installed to upgrade. Presumably, ANY Nexus One (AT&T or T-Mobile, etc) that has FRF85B can use this upgrade

See our post about FRF50 for instructions on doing a manual upgrade.

If You Don’t Know What To Do With Your Bricked EVO 4G, Take It To A Sprint Corporate Store

HTC and Sprint are working together to accommodate EVO 4G owners whose phones were bricked after this week’s initial update. Without adding very much detail, HTC stated that Sprint Corporate stores can be of service. You can find the closest store using this tool.

If You Don’t Know What To Do With Your Bricked EVO 4G, Take It To A Sprint Corporate Store

If you have already updated successfully and your phone boots up fine, you don't have to do anything. If you haven't applied the OTA update yet, you can now safely do so, as the bricking issue has been fixed.

If, however, the initial update made your phone go blank or get stuck in a boot loop, it's time to head over to your local Sprint store.

Get The HTC EVO 4G From Sprint.com For $150 ($50 Off)

If you're in the market for a new phone or are looking to buy an EVO 4G specifically, the deal I just found on Fatwallet may be exactly what you needed.

The regular price of the phone at Sprint.com is $199 after a mail-in rebate, compared to places like Best Buy that will replace the mail-in rebate with an instant one. However, you can get an extra $50 off if you buy it from Sprint.

Positives And Negatives

  • Positive: $50 off
  • Negative:
    • You have to deal with a $100 mail-in rebate instead of an instant $100 discount at Best Buy.

Earlier this morning we posted a hilarious video made by tinywatchproductions depicting an average iPhone user fanboy - the one who mindlessly gobbles up everything Steve and AT&T say and buys every iPhone just because it's an iPhone. Admit it - you know a few people like that.

Now in a comeback video, the same tinywatchproductions came up with a few things an iPhone user could counter with in a conversation with a mindless EVO 4G fan (do those exist?). This video is done in the same machine text-to-speech voiceover format as the first one, which makes it so funny.

Mac VS Windows next please?

HTC EVo

Though yesterday’s OTA update for the HTC EVO ended abruptly when it was reported that some EVOs were being bricked, it seems that it is now being rolled out once more. The update is a little larger than yesterday’s (30MB vs 23MB), but it seems nothing else has been changed (with the exception of phones not being bricked.)

Just like those who successfully received the update yesterday, users receiving the update today are reporting better battery lives, improved Exchange Active Sync, and, more noticeably, much improved Wi-Fi signal strength. Of course, it still does not fix the 30 fps on the phone, and it will break unrevoked root (for now).

google-next-android-version-codenamed-froyo

It’s official: word from HTC is that “several” HTC phones released in 2010 – including the Desire, Legend, and Wildfire – will be getting Android 2.2 (FroYo) “beginning in Q3.” Considering that July is days away, that timetable isn’t too bad, all things considered.

htcdesiretriohed03302010

The FroYo update has been the most publicized and anticipated update yet. As I’ve pointed out before, the Android universe is expanding at an unbelievable pace. Android 2.2 is a substantial update which brings some pretty awesome improvements.

iPhone 4 vs EVO 4G

I resisted watching it for a long time after seeing it at the top of Reddit but @Eugene_373's tweet finally forced me to:

iPhone 4 vs EVO 4G

And now I can't not post it, because it is truly epic (I know, the word is overused but watch it first).

Without further ado, allow me to present to you iPhone 4 VS HTC EVO 4G (warning: blabla, cursing, blabla - don't watch it too loud at work).

If you can't see the video, click the post title to go to the individual post page - it will be there.
