Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) Now Rolling Out To The HTC One X On Rogers

Hey Rogers guys – did you think HTC forgot about you? Turns out they didn't, as the Android 4.1 update is making its way to your variant of the One X as I type this. Exciting, no?

The update – which should clock in at around 635MB – brings all sorts of goodies to the flagship device, including Sense 4+, Google Now, Project Butter, and... some more stuff. Unfortunately, there's nary a changelog in sight so we can't tell you exactly what else to expect. In fact, the OTA is so fresh, even Rogers hasn't updated its OS update page just yet.

I miss you, HTC. My Evo was the first phone I ever truly loved, and between 2007 and 2010, as a company you did remarkably well for yourself. Then the Thunderbolt happened, and then Beats got involved and... Well, let's just say it hasn't been a great couple years. So, when I hear that your CEO, Peter Chou, is planning some bold new changes for 2013, I'm hopeful. Skeptical, but hopeful.

It hasn't been any secret that HTC hasn't been doing so hot. Its stock has plummeted (from a high of 661 TWD in February of last year down to 287 today), its market share is dwindling, and while it has promised to streamline its product portfolio, we're still getting bizarre mid-range devices that break way too many branding commandments.

HTC One X Gets Jelly Bean 4.1 (3.14.206.27) On O2 UK, With A Spoonful of Alphabet Soup

Don't say we don't love you, United Kingdom readers. Those of you rocking an HTC One X on the O2 network should check your settings menu, if you haven't gotten the update already. HTC representatives have taken to Twitter to announce the arrival of Android 4.1 to the former flagship handheld, and users on the company forums have confirmed the upgrade to software version 3.14.206.27. It looks like a nationwide rollout this ~~morning~~ afternoon, so warm up that wireless connection if you want some Sense-flavored Jelly Bean.

Unfortunately, neither HTC nor O2 have graced us with a changelog, so we've only got users' word for the changes at the moment.

Cricket Wireless Is The First US Carrier To Snag The HTC One SV: Available 1-16 For $350

If you're a dedicated Cricket customer looking for something new and shiny (without breaking the bank), hang on to that Christmas bonus for a little while longer. The prepaid carrier announced today that the HTC One SV, itself only just debuting in the UK, will be available on January 16th. The mid-range ICS phone will run $349.99 on Cricket's non-subsidized 3G and LTE plans.

To refresh your memory, the One SV appropriately sits between the One S and One V models. From the S it takes a 4.3-inch LCD screen, dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, and 1GB of RAM. A resolution of 800x480, a mere 8GB of MicroSD-expandable memory, and a 5-megapixel camera keep it firmly out of the high end.

HTC One SV Goes On Sale In The UK Sim-Free For £349.99

Following its unveiling last month, HTC's confusingly named One SV has made its way over to British shores, and is now available to purchase SIM-free from Clove for £349.99.

For your money, you'll be getting a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM and a 4.3-inch display to play your favorite games and watch a few movies on. Unfortunately, the display only has a resolution of 480x800, so it won't be the sharpest looking phone out there.

The One SV is also 4G capable, so if you've been looking forward to trying out the new EE network in the UK, you can do so without tying yourself down to a 24-month contract.

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Update For HTC One S Rolling Out Throughout Europe

We're hearing from tipsters, as well as over on XDA, that HTC has begun the wide rollout of Android 4.1 for a large number of HTC One S devices, all of which seem to be WWE handsets ("WorldWide English"), which are sold by and large in European markets. The software version is 3.16.401.8, and the full update file can be found here, direct from HTC. The size of the update is a staggering 612MB.

According to XDA, the following CIDs are part of the rollout:

[Download] Full RUU For The EVO LTE JB Update (3.15.651.16)

Nearly a couple weeks ago, the Jelly Bean (4.1.1) update to the Evo 4G LTE ~~XL BBQ~~ began to roll out. By now, we think it's safe to say that most or all of you have it. If you don't, however, or if you've already updated, flashed another ROM, and want to get back to stock, then maybe I can interest you in a nice RUU?

As a side note, if you're HTCDev unlocked, you'll need to relock your handset or you'll get an error while trying to run the .exe. More information on relocking the bootloader can be found here.

[Update: More X+ Kernels] HTC Publishes AT&T One X+ Kernel Source

T-Mobile's 'Zero Down Sale' Begins Today, Offering A Selection Of 4G Devices With An Unlimited Data Plan For $0 Down Payment

If you're a last minute Christmas shopper, and on the lookout for some tech deals to give to your loved ones, T-Mobile's 'zero down sale' may be the answer you've been looking for. Starting today, the network is offering a selection of 4G devices for $0 down payment with its Unlimited Value and Unlimited Nationwide 4G Data plan.

The offer lasts until December 31 and includes a number of Android devices, such as Samsung's Galaxy S III, the HTC One S, and the LG Optimus 9. The Nexus 4 was previously listed on the offer as well, but has since sold out on the store and is now unavailable.

HTC One XL Jelly Bean Rollout Beginning In Asia

The rollout of Android 4.1 to the One XL has begun in various Asian countries this morning, with confirmations specifically for the CID (carrier ID) associated with Singapore and Taiwan. The full firmware for the update is also available in RUU form over on XDA (direct link). Note that applying the update will only work if you have the correct CID - this won't work on any old One XL.

The update brings Android 4.1.1, Sense 4+, along with power management improvement - the same changelog we've seen for every HTC device being upgraded to Android 4.1. We wouldn't expect a massive worldwide rollout immediately, given HTC's slow staggering of the 4.1 update for the normal One X, but be on the lookout for it in the coming weeks.
