Rumblings of delays aside, we've been waiting to hear more concrete information about the arrival of the new HTC One. Well, today we got something closer to solid facts. According to the company itself, the new flagship phone should launch in the UK, Germany, and Taiwan next week. Dates may vary by local carriers, but it won't be too long of a wait.

As for the rest of the world, more countries in Europe, as well as the North American and Asia-Pacific regions should see the handset land 'before the end of April.' No specific dates are given, nor any carrier information, but we already know that in the U.S.

Update 3/18/13: AllThingsD dismissed the now-deleted claim by HTC's Twitter account that the One would not be coming to Big Red as bogus and reiterated that it is, indeed, in the works. As originally reported (see below), it's scheduled to arrive months after other U.S. carriers.

According to AllThingsD, America's biggest and reddest carrier will be getting HTC's One phone - but not for a while. Yep, Verizon has signed on as a distributor of the handset, but it won't be available for "a month or two" after the three other major wireless providers in the US have it.

On last week's podcast, the question "HTC One or Galaxy S4?" came up, and was posed to each host. We all made our call, and now it's your turn. While I know many of you have no interest in either of these phones, today's question is not what your ideal phone is, but given a choice between them - which would you get? And no, 'neither' is not an option.

Each phone has its advantages and disadvantages - that's clear.

In a post to its official blog today, HTC asked developers "what could better than the HTC One," quickly following up with the answer: the same phone. Okay, not quite the same phone – this one is shipped with SIM and bootloader unlocked.

Positioning the device as "a modern platform to build and test your apps," HTC reminds potential buyers of the One's Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB RAM, 64GB on-board storage, HTC's open APIs for low-energy Bluetooth, Infrared, and "more," along with its dual speakers and microphones.

According to major UK retailer Clove, HTC has officially given word that its One phone's launch will be delayed in Britain by 2 weeks, and that the phone will go on sale March 29th, as opposed to the original launch date of March 15th. No reasons were provided to account for the change, but we're assuming supply issues have something to do with it - an assumption that, it turns out, is not without merit.

HTC Sense 5 wallpapers, wallpapers, 18 gorgeous wallpapers! Who wants them? Do you want one? And you? Wallpapers for everybody!

Thanks to some quick thinking of an enterprising xda-developers forum member loan92, who used his charm and boyish good looks to distract HTC employees from his sneaky actions at an event in Italy, we have eighteen beautiful wallpapers the company bundled with the upcoming One flagship.

For your convenience, I've mirrored them to an imgur gallery where they can be viewed using the widget below.

If you missed the HTC One launch yesterday, you could just check our HTC One section and read up about the company's latest phone. Or, you could watch the entire unveiling in crisp 720p on YouTube, as recorded in London yesterday, with more Zoes and BlinkFeeds than you can shake a BoomSound at.

Alternatively, if you're short on time, just watch the 4:37 highlights video:

Here's a list of some of our coverage, as well, to give you the full One experience:

Since my introduction to Android (a la Nexus One), I've owned three HTC devices. I've reviewed probably a half-dozen others. I liked some of them, and I disliked others. But generally, I consider myself an HTC fan, especially since the One X.

The new One phone sounds brilliant. Ron's early impressions are promising. The initial response at large seems to be that HTC is finally being bold in a way that's causing people to take notice, by taking risks.

HTC may not be too terribly specific about when it intends to release its newest flagship, aside from a vague March-ish timeline, but Vodafone and Clove are more than happy to fill in the blank space: March 15th is the date. At least if you're in the UK, looking to get this piece of hardware on Vodafone, or order from Clove.

Not only does Clove's ordering site indicate this as the date the first shipments should come in, but Vodafone confirmed the date in a statement to AP.
