CyanogenMod 7 RC4 Has Arrived For All Supported CM Devices - Bug Fixes Abound

CyanogenMod 7 has earned its reputation as the most reliable Gingerbread ROM, even though it hasn't yet entered stable mode. And tonight, the fun goes on - ~~RC4~~ RC3.14159265358979323846264338327, as the CM team so lovingly refers to it, has just been launched for all supported CM devices.

While RC4 doesn't contain any ground-breaking new features, it does bring a number of bug fixes - for example, hardware acceleration has been added to the Nook Color, and EGL has seen a big fix. It isn't perfect yet - kmobs notes that there may be some "lingering GPS issues on the EVO ...

Froyo Now Rolling Out To All HTC Legend Variants

Almost a month ago, lucky HTC Legend owners on Vodaphone UK began receiving their Android 2.2 (Froyo) OTA updates. Surprisingly, carrier independent Legend variants, which would normally get updated first, were instead left behind.

Today, HTC finally let everyone in on the party and announced Froyo availability for all Legends:

To check for updates, turn on your device and go to Settings > About phone > System updates.

Froyo Flood Begins: UK Vodaphone HTC Legend And Galaxy S Along With Korean Galaxy A And S Now Receiving Froyo Updates

What a day for Froyo! First, we had the Dell Streak, which has been long overdue for some frozen yogurt, and now not 1 but 4 more phones are receiving their Froyo updates. They are:

Vodaphone HTC Legend in the UK
Vodaphone Galaxy S in the UK
Galaxy A and Galaxy S in Korea

Interestingly enough, it's the carrier specific version of HTC Legend that is receiving Froyo, even before its carrier agnostic, unlocked brothers. The situation is usually the other way around because releasing through a carrier involves additional testing steps that normally slow things down. ...

If you live in European markets, you may be glad to hear that HTC is offering a new color for two of their phones: the HTC Desire, which will soon come in "Brilliant White", and the HTC Legend, which will soon be available in "Phantom Black."

HTC Phones To Receive Froyo Before Christmas

Update schedules are rarely a final thing, and users can get quite angry when they don’t receive updates according to schedule. However, HTC may have finally given themselves a schedule that they can adhere to: all of their recently released phones will be updated to Android 2.2 “before Christmas.” They had previously announced that ‘several’ models would receive the update in Q3 2010, so it’s unclear if this announcement means that timetable has shifted.

“Several” 2010 HTC Models Getting Android 2.2 FroYo – Including Desire, Legend, and Wildfire

It’s official: word from HTC is that “several” HTC phones released in 2010 – including the Desire, Legend, and Wildfire – will be getting Android 2.2 (FroYo) “beginning in Q3.” Considering that July is days away, that timetable isn’t too bad, all things considered.

The FroYo update has been the most publicized and anticipated update yet. As I’ve pointed out before, the Android universe is expanding at an unbelievable pace. Android 2.2 is a substantial update which brings some pretty awesome improvements.

PaulOBrien Is On Fire: HTC Legend Now Also Rooted Following The Desire. Droid Incredible Next?

Only a day after @PaulOBrien, the founder of MoDaCo.com, defeated HTC's new protection techniques and successfully rooted HTC Desire, he strikes again with a successful root of HTC Legend, using pretty much the same methods.
