cyanogenmod-10-1-m-series-builds-rolling-out-now-for-select-devices-more-coming-soon

Today is a big day for the CyanogenMod team. First, official nightlies are rolling out for three more devices: the LG Spectrum (vs920), HTC Incredible 4G (fireball), and the GSM Motorola RAZR (umts_spyder). Each of these dual-core phones can start enjoying CM 10.1 right away. For the uninitiated, CM 10.1 is based on stock Android 4.2.x. If you've decided to chuck those manufacturer skins and older versions of Android, head over to get.cm and start downloading.

That's not the only news for CyanogenMod today - the M2 release is also upon us. Starting with CM 10, the team decided to release a build every month with a focus on stability.

Update: If you take a look at the Verizon support doc now, you'll notice Isis support is no longer on the list of new features. Interesting. We've kept an image of the original below for comparison.

If you head over to the Verizon support site right now, you'll find that the DROID Incredible 4G has its first over the air update on the way. You can also check out the software update PDF if you're looking to be slightly disappointed. Yep, it isn't Jelly Bean. Surprise! Here's a snap of the changelog:

changes

If you want the quick version on what 2.17.605.2 710RD brings, three things, basically: Isis Mobile Wallet support, global roaming, and Verizon's Remote Diagnostics support tool.

MasterCard and T-Mobile revealed some information about which devices we can expect Isis on when it launches at the end of September (according to Bloomberg), though we have no reason to believe this constitutes every supported device. Here's the list of compatible Android phones, as we've compiled it.

  • T-Mobile
    • Galaxy S II
    • Galaxy S III
    • HTC Amaze 4
  • Verizon
    • DROID Incredible 4G LTE
    • Galaxy S III
  • AT&T
    • One X
    • Galaxy S III

A number of other devices are listed as supporting "any" standard on MasterCard's list, some being international phones, so it's unclear whether phones labeled in this fashion that are in the US will actually support Isis, or if they are merely deemed compatible with it.

If Verizon's DROID brand is the Alamo (and at this point, it sure seems like it is), then the Incredible is Davy Crockett's trusty rifle Old Betsy (yeah yeah, I know he didn't he use it at the Alamo.)

The original Incredible was the best Android phone available when it stormed onto the scene in April of 2010. The follow-up Incredible 2 was still a hot-shot, though its 4" display and lack of 4G had it outgunned from the start, relegating it to a "high end of the mid-range" role in Verizon's Android lineup. And now, the Incredible 4G LTE is riding in with reinforcements - a modern S4 Snapdragon dual-core processor and Verizon's 4G LTE.

If a mid-range LTE phone on Verizon Wireless is on your to-buy list, then you've likely considered the new Droid Incredible 4G LTE. Its somewhat of a low-end One variant, but keeps that slick red and black color scheme of the Incredible line. While the display and resolution are clearly the weakest link in this device, everything else under the hood is sure to zoom along nicely:

  • 4-inch super LCD qHD display
  • 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ S4 processor
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 8 megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, LED flash, BSI, f/2.2 and 28 mm lens
  • Front-facing camera for video chatting with friends and family
  • Mobile Hotspot capable to share 4G LTE connection with up to 10 Wi-Fi-enabled devices
  • Support for up to 32 GB microSD™ memory card
  • 1,700 mAh lithium ion removable battery
  • Sense 4.0 on top of ICS
  • NFC

You could walk into a Verizon store and pick one of these up right now for $150.

incredible

Back at the beginning of May, the DROID Incredible 4G LTE was made official, with Verizon's press release stating that the device would be available in the "coming weeks." Well, it's now July, and it looks like those "coming" eight weeks have finally reached their end - Big Red has at long last announced that the device will go on sale on July 5th, just as expected.

The handset, shown above in all its Sense 4.0 glory, won't exactly be the biggest or most powerful device on the market - its processor is dual-core, and its screen is only a 4-inch qHD model.

Verizon announced the Droid Incredible 4G LTE back in May, and... well, that's it. We haven't heard anything else about the device since (on an official level, anyway), even though it was supposed to be available in "the coming weeks" after the announcement. In all fairness, "weeks" could be any range of time, but we generally think of that as two or three, not seven or nineteen.

Finally, though, a probably release date has leaked. According to Verizon's internal Equipment Guide, the release date for the Incredible 4G LTE is... July 5th! That's almost eight weeks to the date after Verizon officially announced the device.

While Big Red may not be getting an HTC One series device just yet, the finally official Incredible 4G is actually very close. Announced yesterday just in time for CTIA, the Incredible 4G, along with most of its specs, was leaked by Android Police back in early April and briefly showed up two weeks later at DroidDoes.com. Yesterday, Verizon threw together a nice unofficial shindig for the press where we could finally check out the Incredible 4G in person. Read on for my impressions.

The Incredible 4G is basically One S' little brother - it's smaller (4" vs 4.3"), slightly clocked down (1.2GHz vs 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 'Krait'), has smaller internal storage capacity (8GB vs 16GB), an S-LCD instead of a Super AMOLED screen, and contains only a subset of ImageSense called Video Pic (it lets you snap photos while taking a video, which we show off below).

It's finally here, the DROID Incredible 4G LTE, that phone you might have sort of been a little curious about at some point, but probably weren't because it isn't nearly as good looking as the real HTC One phones. But hey, it has a removable battery, Verizon's ever-expanding 4G LTE network, and a Snapdragon S4 processor that hopefully won't devour juice like the Cookie Monster at an all-you-can-eat Nestle Toll House buffet.

Here are some specs:

  • 4-inch super LCD qHD display
  • 8 megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus, LED flash, BSI, f/2.2 and 28 mm lens
  • Front-facing camera for video chatting with friends and family
  • 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ S4 processor
  • Mobile Hotspot capable to share 4G LTE connection with up to 10 Wi-Fi-enabled devices
  • Support for up to 32 GB microSD™ memory card
  • 1,700 mAh lithium ion removable battery

From International CTIA Wireless® 2012, Verizon Wireless and HTC today announced the new and exclusive DROID INCREDIBLE 4G LTE by HTC.

It seems that DroidDoes.com has a way of outing phones before they're actually announced, and once again, that's the story here. Even though it has since been pulled, Droid Life was able to grab a couple of screenshots of the site as it shows off the newest successor in the Incredible line.

As you can see, the specs here confirm our earlier leak:

  • 4-Inch qHD Super LCD
  • 1.2GHz dual-core processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB built-in storage, microSD card slot
  • 8MP rear shooter (likely the same as the One X/S), VGA front camera
  • 1700mAh battery
  • 2.4 x 4.8 x 0.46 inches
  • 4.66 ounces
  • Android 4.0 with Sense 4

One thing that doesn't match up with what our tipster said, though, is the price listed.
