If there were ever a time in your life when the thought "you know, I should switch to Sprint and get the EVO LTE" crossed your mind, now may be the best time act on it: it just dropped to a penny on Amazon Wireless. A freakin' penny.

Amazon Wireless wants to you have this phone so badly, they're willing to hand it right over - so long as you don't have a problem with committing to The Now Network for the next couple years.

If you have or will in the near future purchase an Evo LTE from Sprint, HTC has a special treat for you: $25 in movie money. HTC Watch, which is the Taiwanese company's offering in the streaming movie market, lets users buy or rent movies and TV shows, very similarly to how the Play Store operates. If you already have an Evo LTE, just sign up for an HTC Watch account and you should receive your credit immediately.

While we're still a little unsure how well HTC's video streaming service will do in the long run when even Google's own Play Movies is still trying to gain traction, free money is free money.

It's nothing new to see Amazon Wireless undercutting the brick and mortar mobile phone shops, but this slew of newly announced deals is fairly good. Some of the top selling phones, several of them still brand new, are on sale for anyone signing up as a new customer.

Phones

The Motorola Droid Razr is the oldest phone among the bunch, having come out late last year. It is also the only Verizon deal being offered; although $0.01 isn't bad. Anyone willing to jump to Sprint is in for a treat, as Amazon is selling the HTC Evo 4G LTE for $79.99, down from $129.99.

It may have taken over a month longer than the international version, but HTC has finally released the kernel source code for T-Mobile's version of the One S. HTC has offered no explanation for why the US model's source code was delayed for so long, but perhaps this means that the AT&T One X will see its kernel source released at some point.

They also released the kernel source for the EVO 4G LTE. Developers - or anyone who is interested - can grab the source code from the link below.

Sprint hasn't been the most secretive about the white version of its EVO 4G LTE, as we've already seen. More than once. Now, though, The Now Network has officially taken the wraps off this white handset, and guess what? It's still two-toned. And To add insult to injury, the kickstand isn't red anymore.

I was really hoping for a sexy all-white device with that brilliant red kickstand, but it's clear that HTC and Sprint had a different vision: boring. Sure, it's clean, but it could've been so much more. Alas, that's not the point. I've digressed.

The white version houses the same guts as its black counterpart:

  • 4.7" 1280x720 display with Gorilla Glass
  • 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4
  • 1GB RAM
  • 16GB built-in storage, microSD card slot
  • 8MP f/2.0 rear shooter, 1.3MP front camera
  • Android 4.0 with Sense 4

If you've been holding out for this white EVO, your wait comes to an end in just a few days: it will be available on July 15th for $199 with a two-year agreement.

Ding-ding-ding! EVO 4G LTE owners, the update you've been waiting for is ready. v1.22.651.3 of the software is rolling out starting today, July 11th, and according to Sprint fixes a whole array of bugs. The most important aspect of the update has to do with Google Wallet which has been broken since pretty much day one of the release. Other changes include improvements to Wi-Fi connectivity, playback of sideloaded videos, the crashing gallery app, calendar reminders, random power cycling, and more.

Here's the full changelog posted by Sprint:

Version

1.22.651.3

Date released

07/11/2012

Description of enhancements/fixes

This update addresses:

  • Google security updates
  • Wifi disconnect issue
  • Time zone issue
  • Google Wallet fix
  • Side loaded video pause issue
  • Random power cycling issue
  • Pioneer Bluetooth Car Kit connection issu
  • Gallery app crash
  • Calendar reminder (all day even time) issue

Fire up your engines by going to Settings > System updates > HTC software update if you're running stock or wait for your favorite custom ROM developer (my personal choice is flipz of Fresh ROM) to merge the changes and provide an update you can flash.

Remember late last month when we caught what was alleged to be a white EVO 4G LTE on an inventory sheet and subsequently got a glimpse of the rumored device thanks to a suspect Sprint banner? Well, it looks like we can expect the snow-colored device to land at Sprint July 15th, according to TechnoBuffalo's "trusted source."

A white EVO LTE will probably come as no surprise to current Sprint subscribers or followers of the EVO line. Sprint has a habit of offering white versions of each iteration of the EVO, so it's only natural that the EVO LTE would follow suit.

If you've been waiting to grab yourself a shiny new EVO 4G LTE, now's the perfect time - Amazon Wireless just lowered the handset's price to a mere $49.99, provided you're a new customer or you're adding a line.

As you can see, Sprint's LTE warrior will still cost you $149.99 if you're upgrading, just as previously.

In all honesty, I get a little more excited than I probably should when it seems like someone's marketing department has accidentally revealed juicy details. Today, after seeing Jelly Bean 4.1 teased in a thumbnail image and checkout page (which was quickly redacted), it seems that Sprint may have let slip the existence of a white version of the HTC EVO 4G LTE. In a banner found on the Now Network's website earlier today, we see a white Samsung Galaxy SII (nothing surprising there) right next to a white and silver version of the EVO LTE.

Whether this was just a last minute color-swap to create a more visually cohesive banner or a secret hint at a whiter, brighter EVO LTE is still up for debate.
