T-Mobile's Galaxy Note II Gets An LTE-Activating OTA; Amaze 4G Gets Security Fixes

Well, T-Mobile just got its first LTE device. It's not the already announced SIII, either – it's the Galaxy Note II. That's right, the first LTE-compatible phone comes to T-Mobile by way of OTA update. Owners of Samsung's massive smartphone should be able to pull the 9MB right now, which also brings "various device improvements" along for the ride. Basically, it makes the already-powerful device faster and less buggy.

For those who are rooted and want in on the LTE action, you can grab both odexed and deodexed versions of the ROM, as well as the new modem and kernel files for your flashing pleasure over at XDA.

CyanogenMod 10 Nightlies Come To T-Mobile's HTC Amaze 4G And Sensation 4G In Experimental Form

There's a reason that the Nexus 4 has been sold out almost since it hit the Play Store: for custom ROM enthusiasts, buying anything else is a crapshoot. Assuming that the bootloader is unlocked (or can be,) you've just got to hope there's enough adoption among ROM developers to ensure a steady stream of builds. Owners of T-Mobile's former flagship, the HTC Amaze 4G, have had relatively good options in this area, and they just got a little better: the CyanogenMod team has released official nightly builds of CM10.

List Of Some Isis Launch Devices Revealed - Includes Most Galaxy S III Variants And More

MasterCard and T-Mobile revealed some information about which devices we can expect Isis on when it launches at the end of September (according to Bloomberg), though we have no reason to believe this constitutes every supported device. Here's the list of compatible Android phones, as we've compiled it.

  • T-Mobile
    • Galaxy S II
    • Galaxy S III
    • HTC Amaze 4
  • Verizon
    • DROID Incredible 4G LTE
    • Galaxy S III
  • AT&T
    • One X
    • Galaxy S III

A number of other devices are listed as supporting "any" standard on MasterCard's list, some being international phones, so it's unclear whether phones labeled in this fashion that are in the US will actually support Isis, or if they are merely deemed compatible with it.

Orders For T-Mobile's HTC Amaze 4G Delayed, Possibly Due to Apple Patent Dispute

In a somewhat unexpected turn of events, it seems that at least one customer ordering an HTC Amaze 4G from T-Mobile.com has been alerted that shipments of the device have been delayed "due to an unforeseen issue with receiving the product from the manufacturer." It looks like T-Mobile is sending out emails to customers informing them that  they have no "estimate as to when the product will be available," and suggesting that customers explore other options in the meantime.

S-Off Now Possible On The HTC Amaze 4G, Rezound, Sensation/XE, Vivid/Raider/Velocity, And MyTouch 4G Slide Thanks To 'JuopunutBear'

Over the past year or so, HTC devices have become notoriously more difficult to root/mod/S-Off than the devices of yesteryear. When one series of devices gets cracked, the next generation released by HTC has historically been drastically more difficult to crack.

This has been the case for some of the more recent HTC devices; namely the Amaze, Rezound, Sensation/XE, Vivid/Raider/Velocity, And MyTouch 4G Slide. Up until now, a few of those devices have never even received S-Off status.

T-Mobile Announces Ice Cream Sandwich Updates For The Amaze 4G And Sensation, But Gives No Other Details

Good news for T-Mo customers with either the HTC Sensation 4G or the Amaze 4G: ICS is coming your way... sometime in the future. T-Mobile just updated its support documents for each device stating that they will be getting Ice Cream Sandwich, but it's just not sure when that's going to happen.

There are no other details available at this time, either - but it's still nice to know that Magenta loves you enough to go ahead and put the info out there that you will be getting ICS.

Looks like HTC jumped a new member into the unlockable bootloader gang this morning: the EVO Design 4G. The Design now joins the ranks of the Sensation, EVO 3D, and Flyer in the realm of unlocked bootloader-dom, along with another recent newcomer to the scene, the Amaze 4G on T-Mobile.

As always, the process will void your warranty, but if an unlocked bootloader is what you're after, then this is the place to get it done.
