The Asus Transformer Pad TF701T launched with Android 4.2, with an update to 4.3 coming less than a month later. Unsurprisingly, an update to KitKat hasn't arrived nearly as quickly. This could be disheartening, but as seasoned Android users have come to expect, a ROM speeding things along is usually on its way. CyanogenMod 11 is now available for the TF701T, proving users with a way to experience Android 4.4 on what is a pretty compelling device.

TF701T

ASUS gave us an early look at the Transformer Pad Infinity TF701T back at Computex, but now the device has been announced again in a bit more detail. The TF701T will be the Tegra 4-powered successor to the original Infinity. It bumps all the specs to fit nicely into the top tier of Android slates.

Good grief, but the people who run eBay's Daily Deals portal really love their Android tablets. After discounts on Nexuses for the last couple of weeks, today we get one of ASUS' flagship tablets at a significant discount. A refurbished Transformer Pad Infinity TF700T (the Tegra 3 model from 2012) is going for just $289.99 with free shipping. That's $210 off the current retail price.

The bad news is that it's a refurbished tablet.

Looking for a high-res tablet, and don't mind getting a model that's a bit long in the tooth? Then you'll want to check out Tiger Direct's listing for the 32GB Asus Transformer Pad Infinity TF700. This 1920x1200 10" tablet is a pretty great deal at $279.99, assuming you're OK with a somewhat outdated Tegra 3 processor, a refurbished model, and a $50 mail-in rebate. Jeez, but I wish those things would die - the rebates, not the Tegra 3.

A couple of weeks ago, we tipped you off to a pretty great deal on a 32GB Transformer Pad Infinity from Woot. The first sale must have been a success because Tech.Woot is back with the 64GB model for just $440 + $5 shipping. Amazon's price has never dipped below $480 for this exact model, and it currently resides at $530.

When it comes to using a tablet as a laptop replacement, the first place anybody should look is the ASUS Transformer line. At the top of that hill stands the TF700T, reviewed here. If you happen to be in the market, Woot is offering the Transformer Pad Infinity for just $369.99 + $5 shipping. These are new units, not refurbished.

I know, you're wondering why a tablet released 9 months ago would still be attractive.

When the official 4.2 update started rolling out to the ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity, one of the things I was most looking forward to was switching to the updated launcher. Unfortunately, ASUS decided to omit this option, which happens to be readily available on the TF300 with 4.2. Feeling disappointed and sad, I turned the TF700 off and set it to the side.

Thanks to a comment left on our TF700 Jelly Bean ROM download post from earlier today, my spirits were once again lifted.
