If you've been eyeing the HSPA+ version of Google's Nexus 7, AT&T is now offering you a little incentive. If you buy a Nexus 7 with 3G and agree to a 2-year data plan contract, AT&T will give you a $100 bill credit. It's not the best deal in mobile, but if you're planning to stick with AT&T for a while it's free money. What? You're going to turn your nose up at free?

n7 deal

This promotion mirrors a deal AT&T started running on its officially supported tablets late last year. With that offer customers could get a $100 subsidy on the upfront cost of a tablet in exchange for signing a 2-year contract.

ASUS, in a bid to sell to "several emerging markets," has just announced the MeMO Pad – a seven-inch tablet sporting ASUS' nearly-stock Android 4.1 Jelly Bean experience, a 1GHz VIA CPU (with Mali-400 GPU), a 1024x600 display, 1GB RAM, and up to 16GB internal storage with a refreshing microSD slot available for expansion.

Just like the Nexus 7, the MeMO pad just offers a front-facing camera, though it's a 1MP shooter with a back-illuminated sensor. On top of Android, it comes with ASUS' pre-installed apps, and 5GB of free ASUS WebStorage space (if you don't have enough cloud storage accounts already).

If you're looking for a way to set your Nexus 7 apart from the pack, dbrand has the solution: custom adhesive skins. These skins come in a variety of colors and textures – everything from pink leather to white carbon fiber or metallic titanium. They're pretty badass. Of course, we would expect nothing less from a site with such fantastic design.

This contest is now over.

The final results are listed below. If you've won, you will be contacted in the near future. Congratulations!

Everyone else - keep participating and stay tuned to Android Police so that you don't miss our upcoming giveaway announcements.

Okay, so the Google TV world has been a little stagnant lately. Alright, a lot stagnant. But! This is CES! There are plenty of new devices and gadgets and stuff to play with. While LG is on the other side of the show floor showing of its Google TVs (that is, TVs running Google TV), ASUS would like to introduce you to its Google TV box (that is, a box that runs Google TV that plugs into a TV...TV TV TV Google Google TV Google). The distinguishing feature on this one? It's a cube!

Yes, both the box itself and the UI feature cubes everywhere.

The folks at eBay must love the Nexus 7 as much as we do, because it's been on their Daily Deals page several times now. Today you get another chance to pick up the larger 32GB model of everyone's favorite 7-inch tablet: the Daily Deal is selling it for $228, with free shipping. That's $22 off the retail price, and considerably more if you live in a US state where eBay doesn't have to charge taxes. You'll have to place the tablet in your cart before seeing the reduced price.

Free shipping is a nice bonus, though you can use those savings for overnight  service if you just can't wait.

Background

Like most in the Android world, I've been steadily increasing my comfort zone on how big a screen I want. Back in the day, I was obsessed with getting my phone as small as possible, like Zoolander. Then I got my first smartphone in the Windows Mobile 6 days, and ever since then every device I get has a bigger screen than the last, and I end up being happy about it.

There are a couple of sizes that are natural points for a mobile device's size. The two big ones that jump to mind are:

  1. The biggest size that you can easily reach the whole screen with one hand, and
  2. The biggest size that you can comfortably fit in your pocket.

Tax may apply in your respective state, so be sure to check the total before you confirm your purchase (there was no sales tax in CA for me). Even with tax, you're probably saving some money anyway, so it's a worthy buy.

Another day, another round of nightly builds for the upcoming CyanogenMod 10.1. This time, the latest release of the custom ROM that brings Android 4.2 has been made available on a further 3 devices: the Google Nexus S, Nexus S 4G, and the ASUS Transformer Pad 300 (TF300T).

Definition: A "nightly" is a bleeding edge release that is built on a daily basis, usually at night after a full day's worth of new code has been committed.

It could oftentimes be unstable and not properly tested, lacking any changelogs, but eventually evolving into alphas, betas, release candidates, and finally stable releases.
