Android 4.3 Coming To The Nexus 10, OG 7, 4, And Galaxy Nexus Beginning Today; Google Play Edition Devices Getting It 'Soon'

Google officially unveiled the newest version of Android this morning – Android 4.3 Jelly Bean – and of course the first question is when can I have it?! Good news for current Nexus owners: it's coming today. The current edition Nexuses – 10, 7, and 4 – along with the Galaxy Nexus (GSM is assumed here), will all begin getting the update as of today.

Google Officially Announces The New Nexus 7, Surprise Features Include Multi-Network LTE, Qi Wireless Charging

Google has announced the much-anticipated successor to the Nexus 7, released a little over a year ago, today at a small press conference. Hugo Barra introduced the device, which has been leaked extensively in the past month (several of those times being here, more recently).

The new Nexus 7 is thinner by 1.8mm, and narrower by 2.75mm on each side of the bezel in portrait orientation. It's also 50 grams lighter.

Wireless charging isn't mentioned, so I'm becoming less and less convinced it's capable of such a feat.

Evleaks Reveals Press Shot Of New Nexus 7 – SIM Slot, Dual-Speakers, Rear Camera, And Notification LED Present And Accounted For [Updated]

The new Nexus 7 leaks just keep on coming. The venerable @evleaks has just posted a high-resolution press shot of the still-unannounced tablet. It matches up with previous leaks quite nicely.

The image shows a device with big top and bottom bezels, a front notification light, and dual speakers on the back. The rear-facing camera is there, as is the sideways Nexus logo. Also, note the odd placement of the front-facing camera.

Leak Suggests New Nexus 7 Will Have Android 4.3, Dual Cameras, SlimPort, And Wireless Charging – On Sale July 31st At Staples

It's pretty much a foregone conclusion that a new Nexus 7 is just around the corner, but a few more plausible details are leaking out. According to some info passed to Engadget, the updated 7-inch slate will come with Android 4.3, wireless charging, and SlimPort video out. It also confirms the dual cameras from the last leak.


We don't know what version of wireless charging will be featured, assuming this is legit.

Here's The Sticker From The "New" Nexus 7 Video, Showing What Looks Like 4GB Of RAM [Update: False]

Yesterday's video for the allegedly "new" Nexus 7, widely speculated to be revealed at Google's July 24th event, was a bit low-fi to get the details. Today CNET has a new image, purportedly from the same source, that gives us a clearer image of that specification sticker on the back of the tablet. There's just one new piece of information that we couldn't make out before, under the "Memory" entry: DDR3LM 1600 256M*16.
