We've seen every indication a shiny new Nexus 7 is on the way from Google, including retailers clearing out stock of the original tablet at steep discounts. Staples is up today with a price reduction on both 16GB and 32GB versions. It's not a bad price, but there are online deals for less. This does, however, make it look like Staples is making room for a new product – most other brick-and-mortar retailers are sticking to the default price.

So maybe a refurbished 16GB Nexus 7 for $150 wasn't exactly what you wanted. It could be that you want more storage. Or maybe you just want a brand new unit. If either (or both) of those is the case, then how about a brand-spanking-new 32GB N7 with the official N7 folio for $189? You'll have a difficult time finding a better deal than that, for now at least.

Here's how it works: the original price for this duo is $214 over at Buydig.

Need more proof that a Nexus 7 refresh is on its way? The deals are just flowing in. Adorama has knocked $50 off the price of a new 32 GB Nexus 7, bringing the beefier version of the tablet down to just $199. This price is part of a special email promotion, and it's quite lower than the $230 price point the tablet currently goes for at the site. The Nexus 7 may no longer be the peppy little device it used to be, but it's still a good deal for the money.

If you're in the market for a new gadget but can't justify paying full price, refurbished hardware is a good way to get the most bang for your buck. While the word "refurbished" is somewhat tainted with a negative mental association, the odds are that you'll get a problem-free unit that will provide the same life as if you bought it new (in some cases the unit has simply been returned and can't be re-sold as "new").

Taking pictures is cool, but what if you want a small portable tablet to look at your pretty pictures on? That's where this deal comes in. Over at Adorama you can get a bundle deal on a Sony Alpha NEX-5R and Google Nexus 7 for just $687.99 with free shipping.

The NEX-5R is a pretty highly rated camera with a 16.1MP APS-C sensor – it's sitting at 4.2 stars on Amazon.

We have all been anxiously awaiting news of a successor to the Nexus 7, which is now a year old. Google I/O came and went with no announcement, leaving everyone a bit deflated. Now some regulatory filings appear to offer the first peek at what Google and Asus have up theirs sleeves for a new Nexus 7.

The Bluetooth SIG includes a small image of what is apparently the new Asus-made N7, but from the front it's just a generic black rectangle.

The official Nexus 7 pogo pin dock, which we reviewed earlier this year, closed up shop on the US Play Store for some reason this afternoon. The $30 accessory was rather long-awaited by many Nexus 7 owners, and went on sale on the Play Store in numerous countries, including the US, in March.

dockless

It's possible this is just a temporary fluke in the Play Store inventory system, but this page hasn't changed in well over an hour, so we're starting to believe this situation might be permanent.

Still hunting for a bargain on the Nexus 7? Adorama might have what you're looking for. The purveyor of cameras and other gadgets is offering up a new 32GB Nexus 7 (Wi-Fi) with a travel case (in grey, blue or pink) for just $229.99. That's $20.00 less than the price of a new 32GB Nexus 7 from the Play Store, plus a travel case that's $19.99 (and only available in blue) in the same.

Google has been pushing developers to build tablet-optimized UIs for their apps since the Xoom was the hot new challenger to the iPad (haha). Okay, so that didn't work out very well, but with the release of devices like the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10, devs are finally starting to see the value of building a great tablet experience. Of course, it's not like you'd know. The Play Store is terrible at showing off tablet UIs, but that's about to change.

We've long been fans of avast! around here. From the antivirus functionality itself to the brilliant anti-theft features with root support, it's one of the absolute best security apps on the Store today – and it keeps getting better. Take the most recent update, for example.

At this point, avast! is already working with a great app, so the most recent additions have been about streamlining. Simplifying. Taking the good and making it great.
