Google I/O 2013 From Our Perspective: The Photos, Bacon, And Crazy Bartending Robots

Google I/O, one of the most exciting conferences of the year for us, has come and gone. From sleeping several hours a day to juggling about seventeen things during the live keynote coverage to suddenly finding ourselves within inches of people like Sergey Brin, Sundar Pichai, Lord and Savior Matias Duarte, Hugo Barra, Vic Gundotra, Robert Scoble, Chainfire, Saurik, and other brilliant Googlers, reporters, and developers, the days spent at every I/O are absolutely priceless.

What's Cooler Than 5 Popped Collars? 5 Popped Google Glasses, Of Course

Have you heard? The popped collar is coming back. But that's sooo last year now that we have Google Glass. Presenting: 5 popped Google Glasses (combined current value of $7,500 or more like $8k if you count taxes), because having 4 popped Glasses on isn't nearly as cool.

It Has Begun: April Fool's 2013 Roundup From Around The Web [Continuously Updated]

April Fool's 2013 is here (at least in some time zones), and the Internet has already given birth to a few early pranks. We will spend the next two days second-guessing every piece of written content, getting rickrolled, and generally feeling the way members of bomb squads do on their missions. And we will hate love every minute of it.

Looks About Right: St. Patrick's Day Through Google Glass [Video]

You don't really need my commentary for this one. Just kick back for 2 minutes, watch, and see if this humorous take on Google Glass by stuntbear cracks a smile on your face. These will never get old.

Warning: As you've already probably guessed, some interesting language some might call French indeed found its way into the video. Consider using your headphones if watching at work.

Matias Duarte: "If I Were To Start Poking You, You Wouldn't Like It. But When You Start Stroking, It's A Totally Different Message" [Video]

I had to do a double take to make sure it wasn't Eric Schmidt talking. The interview is pretty mediocre and feels scripted and robotic otherwise, but just watch what he says around 1:50.

It's now officially my #1 favorite Matias Duarte quote.

Update: Looks like the CNNInternational's YouTube video is not available in the U.S. of all places (I did not notice this as I was posting from Barcelona).

Today's xkcd: App

Too bad xkcd doesn't have a crappy app we could make fun of. That guy thought of everything!

If I click 'no', I've probably given up on everything, so don't bother taking me to the page I was trying to go to. Just drop me on the homepage. Thanks.

P.S. As always, don't forget to hover.

Fruit Ninja Escapes To Real Life In This Dubstep-Enhanced Video (Because Dubstep Makes Everything Better)

Look, folks, today is the perfect day to watch a light-hearted video of a real-life fruit ninja chopping fruit, getting smacked in the face with bananas, avoiding bombs like the plague, all topped with adorable kittens flying by in slo-mo. In fact, any day is the perfect day to watch that, especially when it's accompanied by a Dubstep sound track. Still not convinced? Fine, I'll give you two more reasons. It's a Sunday before the laziest and least productive week of the year, and it's Christmas Eve Eve.

Three Weeks With The Surface: An Android Perspective On The Windows Slate

For the last few weeks, I’ve had the fortuitous opportunity to spend some time with the Microsoft Surface RT. I have a few thoughts I’d like to share about that experience.

Productivity (Office vs. Drive)

Drive / document editing and creation at large on Android sucks. Office on the Surface RT blows it away. Not even close. Office RT still has its quirks, but Microsoft continues to show that it dominates the spreadsheet and document ecosystem for a reason: it’s had nearly 30 years of experience perfecting it.
