From the beginning, Android users have been trying to guess what's in store for the OS, even down to what the next version will be called. While many have speculated on what Ice Cream Sandwich's successor will be named, This is my Next reported today that a "trusted source" revealed that the next version of Android will in fact be called Jelly Bean.
As usual we have no idea what version number this will be, but the source also divulged that "game-changing" features will be integrated into Jelly Bean, some of which were initially meant for Ice Cream Sandwich. Read More
The crown jewel of Sprint's service is undeniably its "truly" unlimited data, so when rumors of the Sprint iPhone started surfacing, customers of the Now Network immediately started questioning what would happen to data plans as a result.
The other two carriers currently offering the iPhone, Verizon and AT&T, both switched to tiered data plans shortly after they started carrying the device, so it was an understandable fear coming from Sprintsters across the nation that they, too, may end up on the same [horrible] system. Read More
Rumors surrounding the next Nexus, internally known as the "Prime," are really starting to pour out now. Firstly, we saw a document that suggested a rather disappointing screen resolution, which fortunately, was later revealed to be nothing more than a placeholder. On top of that, Eric Schmidt outed the tentative release timeframe for Ice Cream Sandwich yesterday: October or November.
With all of this in mind, GSMarea has gotten ahold of some info from a "trusted source" on the Prime, and if true, will be the biggest payload we've seen yet. Read More
Since Verizon still wouldn't officially give up the upcoming Droid Bionic's release date, all we've had to chew on so far were rumors of the September 8th release date here and there (the latter was then discredited as an unofficial account by VZW, so it really has no credibility anymore).
To throw another rumor into the fire, one that seems to corroborate all the previous rumors, today the folks at Droid Attic dug up what seems to be an image of Best Buy's internal system showing the Bionic in stock on September 7th. Read More
Back in April, before Toshiba had officially revealed the name of its upcoming tablet, one Babyfacemagee did some serious detective work to figure out that it would be called the Thrive - and ended up being dead-on. Fast-forward a few months, and we're hearing rumors of a new, slimmer, sexier Galaxy Tab-fighter from Toshiba.
While we've yet to hear (or see) anything official from the company, Babyfacemagee seems to have come through with the name once again. Read More
Nope, Verizon still hasn't changed its mind about skipping the Galaxy S II, but if BGR's latest exclusive proves to be true, Android fans on Big Red needn't be disappointed. Indeed, the carrier is said to be launching the Samsung DROID Prime - likely a rebranded version of the long-rumored Nexus Prime - as early as this October.
The DROID Prime's primary claim to fame will, of course, be its operating system: BGR says it'll be the first Ice Cream Sandwich device on the market. Read More
Following the release of the Thrive in July, Toshiba is now rumored to be working on a tablet that could compete with Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 by coupling a sleek, thin design with a large screen and Android Honeycomb while adding a handful of useful ports that the Tab 10.1 lacks.
Earlier today, an Italian tech blog Notebook Italia brought to light some renders of the alleged tablet killer (their words, not ours) that show a very attractive device featuring a profile as sleek as the Galaxy Tab, but with a microUSB port, microHDMI port, and a microSD slot, along with an interesting grooved frame and a slim black bezel around the 10.1" screen. Since an anonymous NenaMark revealed the HTC Vigor's alleged specs, the Android community has been waiting to hear more about the powerhouse supposedly heading for Verizon. Yesterday, some new info about the Vigor came in the form of blurrycam photos posted by the folks over at Droid-Life.
For those who may have forgotten, here are the Vigor's rumored specs:
Qualcomm Adreno GPU
4G LTE Capability

Wow, this just might be the best deal we've posted in a while. Unfortunately, we're not 100% certain on the price, because the images we were tipped to don't exactly specify one. Still, based on the $300 mark we've been hearing, and Droid-forums' claim that their source says that's the number, we're starting to feel pretty confident in that figure.
If you look on the left hand side of that image, in the red area, you can see the text "Accessories Bonus Pack / $159.97 Retail Value / Includes Standard Dock / Vehicle Navigator Dock / Battery Dock and / Extra Battery." That's a lot of kit to bundle with a phone for just $300 on a new 2-year agreement! Read More
After months of anticipation, we are now finally on the verge of the Galaxy S II launch in the U.S. Yesterday's events now have us strongly convinced that the first variant of the Galaxy S II, most likely on Sprint (as the recently approved by the FCC Epic Touch 4G, if you remember), will be launching Friday, September 9th, 2011.
First, today we received a tip from a trusted source inside Sprint, putting the 9/9/11 date on the radar with a very high probability. Read More
